Since filming this series in May/June I am saddened to say that Dave Fowler from West Coast Mountain Guides has sadly lost his life in the mountains - I will leave the videos up at the moment in his memory. Dave gave me the best 4 days I have ever had in the Mountains and memories that will last with me forever. His passion and love for the outdoors really shows. He will be sadly missed by myself and many others. Thoughts are with everyone involved at this time - RIP Dave.. 🏔
You've been in my thoughts, James. I thought he was the same guide as you had as soon as his name was released. It must have come as a shock, and left you feeling a bit out of sorts for a while. Good idea to use the videos as a fitting memorial,
James it’s your call I’d say leave this here for us to watch only met him once but listening to him encouraging you reminds me of when i met him in Glencoe same encouraging words to his client on that day too his voice was very distinctive still hard to take this all in must be difficult for yourself after spending time with him cherish your memories with Dave
I'd heard about the accident, but have only just realised it was the guide featured in your videos. It was a terrible tragedy, and I think your videos are a wonderful tribute to Dave, especially the lovely drone footage of him on the Inn Pinn.
Love the video. Did them many years ago now in the rain and the best piece of advice is always keep 3 points of contact with the rock, even if one of them is your 'arse'!!! You are a very lucky lad with the weather which I reckon you have fully deserved. Music by Beluga Lagoon....what's not to love about your Skye series. Top man James!!
8 days there , a life time of memories, wife couldnt look at the screen, i did the cuillins starting from Sligachan and then moved into glen brittle , looking forward to the next installment 👍
I’ve watched all your videos and, whilst I’ve enjoyed every one, this one compelled me to comment. The footage is 1st class, the scenery out of this world and the camaraderie with your guide comes across vividly. This type of adventure is well beyond my personal limitations (couldn’t cope with the exposure (as felt ill watching this!) so thank you for sharing. I agree that these videos should remain online as a fitting tribute.
I have made peace with the fact that I will probably not bag all the munros… It’s ones like this I’ll not mind missing 😂 I’m on edge (pun unintended!) watching this 😅 Very happy that folk like yourself make videos of hills like this, I can enjoy watching and that’ll do me
Cold sweaty feet again watching this episode. Hammering home that I like hill walking and wouldn’t enjoy being that exposed. I renamed the CMD Arête approach to Ben Nevis to Constant Mortal Danger Arête after doing it last September.
Haha I honestly nearly forgot about exposure as I was concentrating so much 😂 not done the CMD yet but sure i’ll have a video on it one day 😁 Cheers, James
What an absolute treat to watch this. Something I can only dream of doing and seeing. A Magnificent achievement. RIP Dave, the mountains have lost a hero ❤
Well done superb views I did that section years ago no rope it was nicknamed back then The walk in the sky wow to be young again we’ll done brought back nice memories
Another great episode! I was really glad we did the South Ridge of Sgùrr a' Ghreadaidh, this is one of my favourite sections of the Cuillin. Can't wait to see the last episode.
Another fantastic video James, thank you. The weather again, fantastic. Great scrambling in superb scenery. The views were mind blowing. You have a really good guide. Thank you for sharing the video and I look forward to your next one.
yeah i was just gonna say, does it help or make things worse to see dave calmly walk across stuff i would be bear hugging and occasionally using my teeth to grab on?
The first footage I've seen of the Ghreadaidh ridge, I reckon most people who get up there are too 'preoccupied' to film it - understandably so! I did about half of the Cuillin peaks many years ago, and could hardly tackle them now, so I'm very grateful for you giving me a taste of the ones I never got up.
just awe inspiring you guys, get the feeling dave could do it without putting down his tea, but that amount of exposure is just awe inspiring to see you guys amble over it.
Well done James. It all looks so much more chaotic with the route much less clear than I remember. I have done the Ghreadhaidh ridge quite a few times but not recently. The last i took my collie who sauntered along the very crest of the ridge until I finally lost my nerve as she was about to spring up a metre from a very narrow ridge to a very narrow boulder top, when I put her in my rucksac for the last bit. You'll find the Gillean west ridge a doddle now although I am sure it is technically harder than today.
Thanks Eddie, it was a fantastic ridge - must have been incredible with a Collie! Your right, this certainly did help for the west ridge of Gillean, still wasn’t easy - coming soon 😂 Cheers, James
Fantastic video James. It was impossible to watch and not feel the tension and see the narrowness of the arête. Congratulations on a brilliantly successful day.
One of the best parts of the ridge. I did exactly the same route back in 1999 when I compleated my round of Munros on Greadaidh. The best bit is over Thormaid and the 3 teeth - a super ridge scramble! Really pleased you had cracking weather for this. It’s amazing how your confidence grows as you traverse this part of the ridge. Thanks for sharing James.
Great video James, I’m loving these Skye videos. Superb weather for your trip also. I’m really willing you on now….you’re getting closer to the magic 282!
Hi James, brilliant mate, what stunning views, and fair play, that takes some bottle. Dave sounds like an excellent guide. I just can’t believe how lucky you have been with the weather, surely you paid extra for that? Haha Thank you so so much for sharing with us again, and looking forward to the next episode already. Thanks again Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴
A shout out for Sgurr na Stri. That's my hill! I'll never climb the Cuillins (being 10 parts hiker, and 0 parts climber), but that's a few of them I'm eager to experience. Huge congrats for overcoming your nerves on the hairy parts and summitting such beautiful munros.
Wow, James! Just wow! You must be feeling very pleased with yourself indeed - and very confident, as if you can manage to conquer that, on the end of a rope where everything looks much the same and yet is so physically demanding that it requires 100% of your concentration and flexibility; well you could manage just about anything, I reckon! It might even do your railway career some good - you never know!
You made it look very easy James. You certainly did get the weather. Couldn’t ask for a better milestone of 200 after finishing the Cuillins. Very well done 👏🏻
Not enough superlatives to describe how amazing that views are along with the scrambling and your footage mate🤩! It’s bn great watching your Cullin episodes and look forward to the next instalment 😎
Wow .... Well done absolutely spectacular. I could never undertake the Skye Munros and I'll bet they'll stop many folk from bagging all the Munros. I wish there could be 2nd teir whereby all the mainland Munros could be the big achievement.
Thank you, they are difficult thats for sure.. but with a guide they are definitely doable 😁 I can see why a lot of people leave them until last 😂 Cheers, James
I live in Skye and have been up the Cullins many times. Love to see incredible footage like this in fabulous weather. Not easy to hit it lucky with the weather here😂
Great vid 👍 That is some ridge , no doubt the camera isn't showing just how much of a drop there is .. Don't think I'll be doing it anytime soon , or ever 😂 Waiting for your last vid on Skye , with your 200th 👍 217 myself , finally got to do Starav the other week , didn't do the five you did , did the three and the ascent for those three are massive. No wonder you found it tough by the end.
Thank you - its an amazing place thats for sure! Dave gave me a lot of confidence as he was great 😁 Nice one, yeah the Starav bunch are difficult, well done on the 3, definitely a more enjoyable day that way 😁 Cheers, James
I was in Skye on the Cullins first weekend in June and did 6 on the ridge. Sgùrr a' Mhadaidh was my 250th. I didn’t do the part from Ghreadaidh to Banachdich, which looks interesting from your video 😂. I did it the next day up and down, easy peasy 😁
I was up on Skye at the end of May in that wonderful weather. Very keen to go back and hire a guide. Your videos of the Cuillin are not only very instructive, as per usual, but hugely enjoyable, just such good documentary of an exciting place. I think this is what sets the Cuillin apart. Really good to watch. Thanks a million!
Hi James, I passed both you and your guide at Am Bastier, the weather last month was unusually brilliant, hope you had a good day and best of luck with the Munros, might bump into you again soon ;)
Wow James... thats surely put manners on my own quest to follow in your footsteps ! No way i think ill ever do those ridge walks even though i summited Mont Blanc on saturday lol tough also but nothing like the black cuillin..in Scotland and skye too from next thursday :) 2 weeks of heaven M ☘️ ill be booking dave to drag me blindfolded up in the future
Haha you will have to do it Merky, dave is fantastic he will get you through it 😂 Well done on Mont Blanc! Great achievement, how was it? I would love to do something like that one day 😁 Cheers, James
@ScottishMunroJourney James, it was doable but tough up and down steep rocky path with crampons and fresh snow with ice axe 🪓 and two sleepless nites in huts but with great atmosphere.. the views were fantastic also, you'd love it M ☘️
Fantastic footage 👏 this made my legs shake just watching you 😅 ive just started my own hill walking journey but i dont know if i will be brave enough to tackle this. So sorry to hear about Dave, just shows that even the most experienced hill climbers can run into difficulties up there 😢
Unbelieveably lucky! I was going to ask how far in advance you'd booked this - 6 months, wow. Just fantastic footage despite the battery going. Despite the exposure (which I'm not keen on, apart from it providing wonderful views) the rocks looked magical.
Great video, I think it's more common for a guide to take clients to the two Munro's from An Dorus and return there, rather than cross the summit ridge of Greadaith? I have crossed the Aonach Eagach, this is a further notch (excuse the pun) up!!
Thank you - yes your right thats the most common way 😁 but I gave Dave full control of the routes, being 1:1 gives you a bit more scope.. definitely the best way to approach Banachdich 😁 haha AE Ridge is an awesome day out too! Cheers, James
Brilliant video - well done. Looked amazing. Was up there last week and it was clagged in so very jealous of your views! How do those guides do it so effortlessly?!
amazing. thanks for this video, very lucky with the weather. unlike crazy pinnacles, do you need professional support to walk them? asking as coming from Continent requires a bit more planning.

Terribly sad news. I'm really sorry to read this.
The epitome of a sweaty palms video. Brilliant stuff.
If there was a love button I'd have pressed it, had to make do with a like... Thanks James
Thank you 😂🏔
Wow this mini series has been amazing, and I thought Crib Goch was exposed😄. Thanks James this has been so enjoyable.
I can hardly type because my hands are shaking. Astounding footage James. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing the geography is a truly stunning. We'll done Dave. Every time I've been to Sky it's rained.

Fantastic effort again James, the views were stunning. Its amazing how nervous I get watching u scrabble on those narrow ledges lol.
Serious scrambling there - maximum respect James! You also hit the jackpot with the weather!
I was so lucky 😁

I'm only chasing metric Munros (over 1000m), which conveniently saves me from having to bag the hairy Skye ones. :)
Your guide is very skilled and shepherding you with much grace.
He was fantastic 😁
You couldn’t of asked for better weather for your trip, every day been stunning 😊
