Camping with Hammock Hanging Hitch on Jeep

- Took a drive up to the Tofte/Lutsen/Grand Marais area to explore some backroads and try out the McLean Hammock Hitch I procured. Had my eye on one for a while now so that I can hang when and where I want and no need for trees.
So this was a Jeep camping get-out-of-town 2 day romp.
Good time to see what condition the woods were in. Snow and mud. Expected.

My unicycles are in hiatus...got me a mountain bike. Retired it all!
@@shugemery I can't find a mountain bike to save my life. A hardtail with front air suspension and a dropper post. Not a kids bike but not overly advanced.

Very strange I have never met you but you have been such an influence on me getting into hammock camping and different gear over the years. I was in my hammock the past two nights and I asked myself a couple times how would or how did Shug do this on a couple different things. You are in a very strange way like an old friend. Shug, That’s why you need to do more canoe camping. You can through things in “Willy Nilly”. Canoe camping is the remoteness of backpacking with the creature comforts of car camping. Who could ask for more!

This is the first one of your videos that I've seen, and I enjoyed it very much. I clicked on it because I was interested in the hammock rig, but the content was fun. I'm a widower now with kids and grandkids, and this reminded me that there's still stuff I can go out and do on my own.

Keep that jeep out of a mud puddle, you don't want electrical problems and a voided warranty. 😥 lol Shug on the freeway with the cruise control set at 43 mph. For the record I have wonderful memories of helping my grandfather work on a tractor, then he would need a part. He would then shower, shave, put on a dress shirt and slacks to go to town. We would then get in the car and grampa and I would go to town with the cruise control set at 35 the whole way on the highway. He would get his parts then back into the overalls to work on the tractor.. Thanks for bringing that memory back for me.

1st time watcher. You know, if the Jeep is parked on a bit of an incline so the roof is sloped just a wee bit to the front, rain water wouldn't run down on you. If the front wheels are on level and rear wheels on a slope, yeah, hammock would be right near the ground. Shouldn't take much of a slope to get the water to run to the front.

The true joys of car camping is bringing an espresso machine! Nice jeep! During my earlier days, we camped at least 3 times a year in Big Sur. It was so beautiful up there. I always thought the best part was setting up camp, putting everything in it's own special place. Haven't gone in many years but seeing your trips helps me remember all the fun we had. Lovely daughter!
