Advance Driving School can u please help me at 7:41 Did u knew u had to use right lane from looking at the white board on left side of the road or u found out later by looking at the sign on the road?
I expect other drivers spot the white sign first, and then look at the road markings for confirmation. However, since this is my home town I have memorised how every local junction works!
When driving straight ahead at a mini-roundabout no signal is necessary. Even if you try to signal left when leaving the junction there is probably only time for our indicators to flash once - so there isn't much point as it won't really help anyone. Watch our other video 'Signalling / Indicating Correctly' for more information.
As a new driver multi lane roundabouts really scare me. I just cant seem to get my head around them. I start off in the right lane "this all about turning right" but then I lose track of when I should be changing lane to exit.
I couldnt agree more. I passed my test 2 weeks ago im ok when the lanes are clearly marked but on big roundabouts with no markings well I avoid them frankly.
I agree. The worst thing for me as a new driver is the idea of big roundabouts with no road markings. I almost failed my test due to a smaller roundabout having tarmac over it - no markings at all. Only thing that saved me was a small sign immediately on the road, so my assumptions just took over.
Passed my test a few years ago, but these videos have helped me to remember all of the road rules during periods of not driving. Really really appreciate these amazing videos!
It's almost as if the roads have been designed to create collisions, there's way to many roundabouts, and roundabouts with lights at the start of roundabout exits. Driving is supposed to be enjoyable but it's more of a stressful chore than anything else.
I am an experienced driver but still found this video helpful. However, I wish you had mentioned the importance of signalling when entering and leaving a roundabout. I find that so many drivers nowadays do not signal. I think this is a very bad habit and the dangers of it could have been reinforced by your video.
We like to concentrate on one skill at a time on our videos, and this one is all about the lane discipline at roundabouts. We have covered signalling at roundabouts in our other videos, such as 'Signalling Correctly' and 'Roundabouts for Beginners'.
Talk as much as you want to. Most examiners will chat a little on quieter parts of the test route, but keep quiet at junctions etc so you can concentrate when things get tricky!
Merrycon Hi i dont understand what you mean when you have to signal when entering and leaving the roundabout. Can you explain that part to me please? thanks
I passed my driving test today with 4 minors. When I’m practicing with my instructor I had been watching these videos and got more knowledge and used it when I’m practicing. You’re really brilliant!!!. If someone has their test soon, don’t be panic, try to watch all of these videos you can easily pass the test. Don’t be panic at test time, try to talk with examiner what are you doing, why are you slowing down and be a positive mind every time.Thank you so much,I really appreciate your support.
Keep in mind not all road markings are visible especially here in Bristol. Depending on which part of the town you driving you will have more or less luck with markings. The part where I live and drive is really tricky so you better know the lanes and markings as there now not much bro see on the road.
I have seen many videos but this video actually gave all the answers, i was looking for. The best explanation especially when you show from outside and from inside. Big applause 👏 🙌 👌
3:25 When going straight ahead, my driving instructor said to hug the outer lane. But you do not do this. You follow a straighter path. That makes more sense, and is what I instinctively do when I am not with my instructor. When I try to do what he tells me, and I am not in his vehicle, I get bibbed at, because cars trying to enter the roundabout at the first entrance I come to, think I am turning left because I am positioned so far to the left. (I am talking about roundabouts without lane markings, like the one in this video.)
When going straight ahead in the left lane we should steer wide enough to leave room for others to turn right, but there is no need to ‘scrape the kerb’ around the outside of the roundabout. How wide we need to steer will depend on the size of the roundabout 👍🏼
I don’t have a word for you I watched so many other peoples videos but couldn’t understand about the Round about and now i can understand very easily Thanks so much.
Yeah, I have passed this onto an Egyptian neighbour who wanted help (but bizarrely didn't require it legally 🤯, even though he is frankly dangerous on our roads-having ridden with him to try and help him). He found it very clear and helpful, for multiple reasons, including the various examples of different roundabouts. Before anyone asks: YES, I told him to get professional lessons, and he has booked them....though I wonder much good it will do unless he re-learns EVERYTHING. If you're wondering why I consider him dangerous: he stopped DEAD in the middle of a roundabout because that is what they "do in Egypt"...a bit like France I guess with the give-way-to-the-right regulation nonsense (nonsense for a roundabout....). Seriously we have some crazy laws.....
Thank you for this video I just recently sat my test and was on my way to passing until I came across an unmarked roundabout literally at the end and I failed because I accidentally straddled between lanes, video helped me understand discipline at roundabouts recommended for sure. :)
I passed my driving test today. It was my first attempt. I have been watching your videos for the past few months and they were very helpful. Thanks very much.
I’ve already passed my driving test in the beginning of the year.😂 but I’m worried I’d forget how to drive on roundabouts because of how long covid has kept me off the road
You will probably feel a little out of practice when you drive again - but just like your first drive after passing, take it easy until your confidence returns!
All your videos are very easy to understanding, very helpful. I am from another country, I started to watch your video before my practical test 2 weeks. And it helped me a lots, more than my instructor. I passed my test for the first time. Can't believe it because I did not know anything about car, about driving car... And now I am watching you again about understanding big round about before my first long journey in few days. It takes about 1.5 hour. Hope everything go well. I just want to say thank you so much. You are AMAZING!!!
Your videos were really amazing! Thanks for your clear instructions and useful tips, I passed my driving test on the first try with only 5 minors in Hendon. Your expertise boosted my confidence, and I will recommend your videos to everyone preparing for their test, thank you 🎉
Been driving for decades but never learned how to navigate these, since until now I haven’t ever needed to, but these things have seemed to have been put “everywhere.” I’m admittedly already slightly anxious as a driver, but I’m outright terrified of these things. I’m hoping that I am able to utilize what this vid has taught me the next time that I come to one. This vid makes it seem easy enough.
I have been drivibg for many many years, never learn to drive in roundabouts, i find its very confusing and the roads needs to have more signs, I have learn alot from this video but its very confusing, last year i came across a roundabout i drove there before many times and it had stop lights but not anymore so when i approach i was in the right lane but i wanted to go straight cars are coming from all directions so i made a right turn and went in a side street turn around and came back made another right turn and i went staight omg very confusing i will try and go on a quiet day take a friend and practice ,,, yr videi was very good, thank you.
Whoa, I'd be scared if I need to drive through multi-lane roundabouts in the UK (I'm in Australia, where all multi-lane roundabouts are heavily marked throughout). Less scared though after watching this video. Excellent explanation :)
I live in Edinburgh, Scotland. The local highways department here is permanently short of cash, so many of the local roundabouts have almost invisible markings that only rarely get re-marked (road salt in winter doesn't help of course). I'm sure this issue has led to many 'incidents' and doesn't help novice drivers who have enough to contend with.
Having been brought up in the U.K., I'm used to roundabouts, and think they're great, but here in Canada, roundabouts are relatively new, and it's an absolute gong show. They put them in with no word on how to use them other than give way to whoever is in the roundabout! People will stop in the middle of the roundabout, and give way to drivers on their right, the guy behind you will often cut left and take a short cut. I will go out of my way rather than use them.
I'm learning how to drive and roundabouts have been the most challenging thing for me , its like a mental block I can't get over, but these videos are so helpful in understanding how to cope with them.
At the roundabout if you follow the lanes rule specially when turning right when changing lane to take the exit could cause an accident instantly if not alert .
We always give other vehicles space just in case they do something unusual like use the wrong lane at a roundabout. If we keep our car in a diagonal position to other vehicles then we won't get hit if they change lanes suddenly - but drive alongside others and we could be put in danger!

Signal is necessary or???
Can you explain about mini roundabouts street a head signal please?

Advance Driving School ok Thank you so much. Your video is so extremely helpful thanks again 👍
Roundabouts and lane changes are probably the scariest things for most new drivers.
It feels like dropping into a Lion’s cage.

True that.

@Simon Jones Have you seen this video: Changing Lanes Safely: th-cam.com/video/eRTAxottBkY/w-d-xo.html
The Government or State should put lane markings on ALL the roundabouts it is necessary
I couldnt agree more. I passed my test 2 weeks ago im ok when the lanes are clearly marked but on big roundabouts with no markings well I avoid them frankly.
No need on quiet roundabouts. They're straightforward. On busy ones I agree.

Not if it's a single lane roundabout
I agree
