My frank opinion is:
- Clearly more bass and louder vs Flip 4
- Crispy sound

for everyone asking, the flip 5 is mono audio because on small speakers with 2 drivers like the flip 4 you can’t hear the stereo sound. the drivers are too close. the one driver that the flip 5 has is more powerful delivering louder sound with better bass and clarity.
i couldn’t tell you why it’s offset to the left. i think that’s a shitty design choice. they should’ve done they’re best to put it in the center. i don’t really mind since you can’t really hear exactly what side it’s on unless you put your ear to it but it’s stupid.
@@Ormagoden94 go 3 steps away from you phone and listen to your « bouncy sound ». Then you will realize that his not talking about the size of the diaphragm but about the distance between the two speakers (and you).
But does it scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7?

We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

Don’t know why people are complaining about the fact the flip 5 uses a mono speaker instead of stereo. The reason why is because the body of the speaker is so small that there is no stereo separation so there is no point in having stereo speakers. The mono speaker is way bigger and creates more bass, loudness and overall better sound. Jbl are not going to release a product worst than their original. I have a flip 4 and flip 5 and I can tell you the flip 5 sounds way better. If you really want true stereo just buy another flip 5 which is basically also why they went with mono cause they want you to buy another unit
Aren’t some vocals or instruments only programmed into either the left or right channel? By being mono, isn’t some of the music being excluded? I’m not sure if mono mergers L/R, or if it excludes one channel.

What knife'd you use to take off the cover? Or whatever that is. I also want to take it off for my videos , that's why I'm asking.
The sound is decent. Mids are most prevalent which makes it harder to hear in noisy enviorments (e.g. in the shower). It is lacking in higher frequencies though, they should have put a tweeter in it. Could have dominated the bluetooth speaker market if they kept it at Connect+.
And add a 3.5 jack...
In JBL flip 6 they added a twitter...

Thats what I was thinking I was like is one of the drivers broken? I just went out today to replace my flip4 after it stopped working and it had 2 drivers. Weird having audio from one side but the sound quality is still there.

I'd prefer the mono audio when it comes to bluetooth speakers, it produced better bass and overall loudness. Flip 5 should be perfect for people like me.

Jokes aside, I got my flip 5 recently. And it's really good for the price of it. Better clarity than budget speakers from companies like Tribit. Mono doesn't make much of a difference when it comes to bluetooth speakers.

But I own a TL and a CC
What I can say is the build designs are difference... That the internal architecture and structure.... The mother board, the drivers, the button panels too are different... Thus making the sound quality differ a little... And it's bouyancy too because some version floats in water and some do not
But they all look the same from the outside

I dont know why.. But I prefer the flip 5.. It has two speakers.. Though the one is a tweeter... But The part that the tweeter wouldn't rattle When deep bass come like On the flip 4 is good... And.. For people the want the surround sound.. Then go to flip 4... Prob is that the bass and The sound is much quieter than The 5.. But still good

For speakers like this, stereo has no benefit. The flip 5 sounds better than the flip 4. Only need for stereo is car and home audio when you can sense left and right. Mono covers left and right sounds anyway and produces a cleaner sound with more bass in small portable speakers.

Charles Telerant you do realise it will sound better then the flip 4 , when you have stereo speakers in such a small speaker the sound deteriates as they are playing two channels so they don’t produce as much bass , the flip 5 will have crisper highs and deeper bass then the flip 4

In a portable speaker woofers are just too heavy so i dont think its gonna happen.
It would sound like shit. When the Woofers move the air needs to go somewhere. That's why a standard speaker system always has a port for the air to escape. If they would do that on the boombox or any portable speaker they would completely give up on any kind of waterresistance. It's a good design choice to use those passive radiators

Really bad that JBL has spoiled the whole range of their speakers by turning the stereo speakers into mono speakers. I would never ever buy such a large mono speaker. Minirig Mini and Bose Soundlink Micro are perfect sized pocketable mono speakers with excellent sound given the size.

Caution: Most of my friends have JBL speakers, usually Flip 4 and 5, it works awsome for max 1 year and then it gets battery and sound quality issues. Just FYI
Cousins had his since it dropped . Sounds gr8 still .. guess it’s just some people .
I still have the original JBL Flip and use it almost daily. Still does great, no issues. Of course the battery doesn't last as long, but that the same with every battery.
I found my Flip 5 in a dry riverbed 3 years ago and have used it relentlessly in dusty Arizona heat and monsoons.
It just developed charging issues and bass popping, so I want to get in there looking for loose connections.
I contacted JBL and i asked a question if the all the connect + speakers will get partyboost and they awnsered:
Regarding the Party Boost question:
-Extreme 2 and Charge 4 have, and will have, Connect + feature, any JBL device with Connect + won't be updated to Party Boost feature, so they can not play together.
-Only Flip 5 and probably the new devices that haven't been released yet, will have this feature
@Dan Smith Its a similar money grab scheme that Apple pulls every year. Make each new model only marginally better, but add some minor hardware/software change that makes every previous model obsolete so you have to get the new version if you want any sort of compatibility. But with the Flip 5, I'm not even sure it's marginally better than the 4 tbh.

because they want...also bigger drivers lead to better quality (leaving aside the wattage). I also disagree with that thing...
Because you can't feel the stereo effect with such a small piece like Flip 5 or Charge 4 and older versions....A bigger driver can give you more bass and more power at all... But a tweeter was necessary and they didn't putted.
Because they aint got money to make them, just like the charge 4. Nobody should buy Mono in 2019!
