How is not having 3.5mm jack going backwards? It’s a travel and outdoor speaker, who actually uses 3.5mm jack these days if you don’t have some top notch hifi system? It was annoying to have that flap so im glad they simplified this. Partyboost however sucks and i wish it was compatible with my flip 4, that i ended up selling for that reason. I don’t think JBL realizes it’s not gonna make people buy two speakers, and it’s also not allow them to built a connected collection that would basically surround your room with sound, which would be awesome. Because they don’t have it, i just sell the previous version everytime. Which means that someone will buy something they already sold and jbl will not have profit from it, but if they let them connect, less people would be selling their older speakers and thus more people would have to actually buy the new one. Basic logic, idk who is doing the marketing strategy at JByl but they should be fired.

The single driver is positioned to the right from the logo. The sound is as if you're listening to it in a hollow chamber. Flip 4 has natural, absolutely natural sound, which means it gets slightly harsher at full volume. The C type is the only catch in this speaker. You should probably check out Charge instead.

Caution: Most of my friends have JBL speakers, usually Flip 4 and 5, it works awsome for max 1 year and then it gets battery and sound quality issues. Just FYI
Any old crappy speaker takes calls. I wouldn't have gotten this had I known. Also not stereo give me a break. Dont get it. You need 2 of these for stereo sound. Then how portable would it be carrying two. But still I am getting another, there are blessings for that too. I couldn't get this speaker to work without getting the jbl app, so it is working just now. Sound is good, but maybe I would have just bought a larger cheaper speaker with all the standard features including stereo and ability to take phone calls. I'm making sure you guys have all the info before you buy. Edit, I do love this flip 5, I kind of flipped out a little about not taking calls but I'm used to it only after 1 day. Sound is awesome, can't wait for the 2nd 5 I ordered to play sweet stereo sound. God bless you guys.
Im buying this because im pretty sure charge 4 will get a partyboost update. So excited for bass heavy sounds if connected with flip 5 🙂🙂 my charge 3 will get lonely though... Tough decision

Hey, great video. Im thinking about getting one but I've seen people say that it doesn't turn on/charge for them anymore. Does it still work for you? Should I get it despite these problems?
Thank you for the review. I bought one and it sounds awesome. Only thing is when I turn it up loud starts moving on the table like you put it straight and starts spinning around slowly is that normal?
ive had this speaker for 2 years, and its a hell of a solid thing. i dropped it so many times and it still sounds amazing. i think the age of mine has affected the battery like when i play it on full blast, the speaker seems to die faster. is that normal? however, when i have it below half volume, it lasts me DAYS. it's insane. I've only dropped this thing in the water at work a couple times and its a TANK.
Yes that’s normal. And this is my problem with built in batteries. They all degrade over time. So when it’s doesn’t take a charge anymore, your speaker is now garbage. There’s no reason they can’t put in a few 21700 batteries that can be removed and replaced if needed.
When connecting more than one flip 5 together, after about 30 min it automatically disconnects if I do not have both simultaneously connected to my phone via bluetooth (since this causes disruptions in the sound if further apart). I have heard several have this problem. Do you have an fix for that issue? It's not the particular speaker itself either as I have experimented with 4 different brand new flip 5s.
It happened with my cellphone. I bought a samsung tab and it has not interrumptions while playing on stereo mode. Maybe the mobiles are old and it doesn't work well. Otherwise, I don't know, but I can say its not a problem of the speakers at all cause when I connected them on my tab I had no problems. It might be the bluetooth version or idk 😢
Got the 5 sounds good But left out so many good features that the 4 had and do not like no cover over the charger outlet stick with the 4 if u can find it .

Flip 4 has natural, absolutely natural sound, which means it gets slightly harsher at full volume. The C type is the only catch in this speaker. You should probably check out Charge instead.
Watching your video with JBL flip 5. It seems great
Excellent review. They dont have a 3.5mm jack?
We bought this speaker today so happy🎊🔥🥰
Me too
chariemae tagsa how do you like it?
Hello, I want to own one, is it still working for you?
Chrispy Things I Appreciate This Video😊!
haha i loved the water test xD great stuff. thank you
My dude, do you recommend Flip 5 over Flip 4 sound-wise? I'm seriously considering getting Flip 4 for the convenience of using it as an external speaker for calls. Thanks!
Flip 5 for future proofing your purchase if you plan on buying other JBL speakers. If not, go with the 4 if you need to take calls.
For indoor and rooms soundtrip this is amazing. Flip to fit indoor .
Another awesome JBL video your the JBL MAN keep the great Bluetooth videos coming.
I can’t wait for the Flip 6!
@@ChrispyThings me too they leaked out the Charge 5 for March release with 40 watts and an added tweeter. The flip 6 can’t wait hopefully 30 watts and a tweeter the flip 4 and 5 are excellent speakers have them all up to the charge 4 I have Bose micro Tribit Stormbox micro so many good speakers out there. I stick with the big 3 JBL, BOSE,and SONY!
Thanks for your binaural mic...im sold...the sound quality is awsome. Have you reviewed the Harman Kardon Onyx 5 and 6? if so il dive thro asap
No I haven’t.
My latest speaker recluse the Bose Soundlink Flex. I’d definitely check out that speaker if I were you. It’s great
JBL?? Love the bass and clarity!! Sonos?? Really like their new “picture” speaker. Pricey tho!!
Like your cute tan line!!
Thanks!
I can only tell that your mic is terrific!
Thanks!
For the videos u make u deserve more subscribers so I subscribed
Worth every penny
HOLY BASS!
The signal is lost because of the metal container. Not water I guess
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Great review thx!! Btw is there a way to adjust the Bass & Treble? I tried adjusting my phone that I have it connected through and changing the sound from Heavy Bass to Low Bass and tried High Treble and Rock and Jazz which changes the sound on my wireless headphones but it doesn’t change the sound on this speaker?! Kinda frustrating or am I doing something wrong? Thx. New subscriber.
You can’t adjust the level later in the JBL app unfortunately. You can with the new Flip 6 though.
I picked up one in green camo a few weeks ago and got a little nervous when I saw "waterproof" with the exposed charge port. I thought "how's that possible", so I've been reluctant to put it in any water, despite the waterproof feature. Thanks for showing that it won't blow up on me if I put it in water lol. Great review, all around.
Thanks!
I have this speaker and I love it it has great sound could use more bass but the charge lasts mine 3 dTs before another charge and just takes mine 1 hour to fully charge
Chrispy.. loved the water test! Jesus! Lol
I was worried for a minute there. Lol
Doesn’t float
got the flip 5 because it was same price as flip 4 and I prefer USB c
is the flip 5 loud enough for parties?
What song was that, that you tested with ?
The fact that JBL Flip 5 does not have voice assistant(at least a mic) is a serious deal breaker. I'll just wait for the next one, hopefully they fix that
Specs wise it isn’t really mind blowing but sound quality is superb.
@@davodxsuperstar yes very true AND that's why it kills me. But who knows, maybe the sound quality was a trade off for the mic and assistant
Excellent video I have one question I just bought my flip 5 today I only need it when I’m driving my Fed Ex. My question is on mines the speaker sounds like it’s louder towards the left of the device and not even on the right. Is there only one speaker on this device or do yours sound even on both sides
It sounds like it’s coming from 1 side.
is the flip 5 loud enough for parties?
This Flip 5 stopped Bluetooth pairing after 4 months. If you have any recommendations, I will be open. Otherwise without cable connection this is just a paper weight
The music made this video that ! 🥰
Greetings all the way from Ghana, West Africa. I love this your reviews here. Good thing you mentioned it's performance in comparison to the Sony xb 32. I have been struggling with which one to buy between them. I'm looking for one with better bass performance. Could you help me here? Flip 5 or Sony xb32? Would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance 🙏
Recommend the jbl flip 5 , i used my girlfriend’s and it blew me away !
You can still connect to other Jbl speakers, just have to download the JBL app to do so
Caution: Most of my friends have JBL speakers, usually Flip 4 and 5, it works awsome for max 1 year and then it gets battery and sound quality issues. Just FYI
Is the Flip 5 good to use when watching TH-cam videos on an iPad? Or is there a good bit of lag?
Thanks, and GREAT video!
Very little lag watching a video right next to the speaker.
Just buy airpods pro
I brought the speaker before watching this video. You kind of make the flip 4 sound better. All in all I enjoy it. Great sound . Nice review. BTW what song is that you used during testing ?
Spot Light check the comments. I know I’ve answered that question a few times. Seek and you will find. Thanks for watching!
@@ChrispyThingsjust answer his question dweeb
Entertaining and informative, great job
Thanks for watching!
the partyboost is first good for new technology software updates comign with it but it is in first place goo d for money making. they know people gonna buy always the newest jbl line up speakers and they know they can force people to buy several flip 5. htey know people gonna tell there friends "hey buy a flip 5 so we can conenct ours together"....they know people are that stupid and will buy the newest jbl speakers...all those kids want always the newest one. it is marketing tactics. they hope it will go right...lets hope for jbl it was a clever step.
Thanks for the info.,👍👍👍
Thank you very much.
Very helpful.
Hey, great video. Im thinking about getting one but I've seen people say that it doesn't turn on/charge for them anymore. Does it still work for you? Should I get it despite these problems?
It still works for me. I’ve had no issues at all. I’m guessing the problems you’re hearing about aren’t the norm. I use this speaker all the time.
Should I buy flip 5 or charge 4 for the price en size?
Having the same debate rn
Jayden Humphries I took the charge 4 for more bass and battery, and it’s awesome, you should also take it🤩
And my friend has a flip 5, and I like the charge 4 much more
That beat is nice
JBL Flip 5 vs Anker Soundcore Flare+ Which one should I get for better sound and bass?
is there any delay from the audio while you playing youtube?
Thank you for the review. I bought one and it sounds awesome. Only thing is when I turn it up loud starts moving on the table like you put it straight and starts spinning around slowly is that normal?
0:15 that song reminds me of filthy frank.
He joji now, PROUD of hIm
What is the song you played at the sound test? It’s fire

It's fine if you don't have any other jbl speakers, and personally, I don't care about the mic
ive had this speaker for 2 years, and its a hell of a solid thing. i dropped it so many times and it still sounds amazing. i think the age of mine has affected the battery like when i play it on full blast, the speaker seems to die faster. is that normal? however, when i have it below half volume, it lasts me DAYS. it's insane.
Cant wait to own one🙏🏻💪🌅
The video was good. But u should know that Bluetooth 5.0 also doesn't work under water.
Viraaj Singh not to mention it’s literally in a metal bowl lmfao
@@toofarproductions1, so what do u want to say that 'cause of metal the Bluetooth is not working??
@@im.viraaj yes metal blocks radio waves
@@toofarproductions1 but it was not in a because of metal, closed from all sides. U r right. But now it was blocked by water.
Nice review👍
Got the 5 sounds good But left out so many good features that the 4 had and do not like no cover over the charger outlet stick with the 4 if u can find it .
I need help, should i buy flip 5 or lg pk5, i'm having a hard time choosing.
Get the Flip 5. Better overall sound.
great review, I'm not that tech savvy but which bluetooth speaker would you recommend under $100?
Right now, the Tribit Stormbox micro. I just did a review and sound test on it. 55 bucks.
Flip 5. It won ''What HIFI?'' award as best budget portable bluetooth speaker
I have a flip3 and thinking of upgrading to a 4 or 5...which would you go with or stay with my 3?
