As much as I love Nilsson and his original, this version brings out the sheer darkness of the lyrics in a way ol' Harry could never have envisaged. Brilliant!

After my mother passed away in '99, i must have played this song on repeat for at least 3 weeks, full volume and screaming the lyrics until my voice gave out. I cannot listen to this song and not remember those days, but instead I can air guitar and air drum, just to thrust some life into those memories.

Wow! First came across this in Xfiles soundtrack. What an awesome cover. I love how he's basically screaming the lyrics but there is no distortion. Amazing how they capture it with such clarity, even at such high volume and output. Much better than the original IMO.
Just came from "Nice Shot" and noticing how they opted for no distortion/clipping in this one. Works to capture the pain conveyed here!!

Whoa. How am I just now learning about this cover? I'm of an age where I'm on the cusp...I'm 51 so I dig me some Three Dog Night but I also like Filter , yet I never knew they covered this til today! Crazy! And this is really good!
Today...I stumbled across this. Just yesterday was my discovery of Filter. I am loving their music. Oh ya, I am breathing down the neck of 68.
The 90s was the decade that started with music so real, angry, realist, visceral, and relatable.....only to end up being fake-ass corporate driven rubbish upon Clinton signing the Communication Act. Filter were one of those bands so incredibly under appreciated. Patrick used his vocals like a spare guitar / chainsaw.
