Correct me if I'm wrong but Dean said that he played guitar effortlessly and has a music degree. As someone who went to music school as well, I am not surprised that he can switch so fluently to another instrument and just be super incredible at playing it.
@@omramoryth He's Berklee educated, I believe, and definitely an incredible guitar player, but a lot of the right hand stuff necessary for bass isn't familiar at all to guitar players, so it's still incredibly impressive. He plays like a bassist who's known the instrument his whole life, not like a guitar player who just switched over to fill a slot. edit: whoops, not berklee educated
@@DeanLamb where did he go? I'm interested in finishing my music education and looking for a place where I don't have to sell organs because cost or lack of loans, financial aid, etc... Thank you!
Too many metal bassists use distortion of some kind, which makes their instrument blend in with the guitars. More metallic (no pun intended) sound is the way to go and makes it stand out more.
One thing I love is that during the verses and chorus he plays these unique and complex lines instead of generic bass lines , and during breakdowns and guitar solos he matches his lines with the drum to double down on heaviness.
The part on Golden Mouth of Ruin where he just casually mirrors a crazy sweeping guitar solo like it's no big deal. Who the fuck even thinks of doing that????
This song is just absolutely beautiful. The entire Bleed the Future album is massively addicting. I can't wait to see what Archspire does next. Y'all please come to Houston again soon.
He is a pioneer bassist. For any player of any level. His skill is incredible. And he plays with such feel which us nice against the super technical music. The bass always fits the part to. Gotta repect the songwriting skill
Legitimately what the heck. This man continues to push his writing to the next level with every release. Absolutely stunned at the tapping composition. He’s literally carving new territory for the bass guitar.
Proper bonkers-mental crazy. Just when you think you've seen their maddest technical stuff, they outdo themselves all over again. That Dingwall looks and sounds amazing. Im getting myself one, and practicing like monk this summer. Damn you Jared!!
@@ironblast5 I would love to see dingwall make a headless model with one of those thigh cutouts that strandberg does to make playing in classical position more comfy. insta buy lol.
the mind blowing part for me is the fact that they can write the most melodic heavy riffs, while still writing the prettiest clean sections in all of metal
Seeing this dude rip it up again for my second time seeing Archspire recently.... that made me equally want to practice more bass and guitar daily, and throw both away lol. Jared, you're a nut.
What the hell?? This is superb. The moment metal begins putting bass and drums at the front of the writing process is going to be a glorious day. This is coming from someone who plays guitar and aspires to do vocals lmao, foundations of a building are more important than the paint though
First time listening to this song/group and I can't help but keep thinking about this being from an alternate universe where the members of Dethklok respect the bass.
Who does this guy think he is, some kind of bassist?!?
Where’s the guitar play through though
🤣🤣 He needs a Star Wars sticker on thay bass
That
who needs him when you can just program his parts now?
And who are you again? Give the guy a break. It’s a solid cover.
The fact that Jared learnt bass specifically for Archspire and has such mastery of right hand techniques is... inhuman.

That bass is insane. The song is insane. God i love metal.
God made metal!
I wish it was mixed like this on the album
always the case with bass playthroughs
That bass tone is superb. Archspire is definitely a genre-pushing innovator and makes me smile to know there's still more ground to cover in metal.
Darkglass amps and cabs mostly. The Dingwall does also have a distinctly bright sound as well. Cuts through the mix like a scalpel.
Agreed!
Too many metal bassists use distortion of some kind, which makes their instrument blend in with the guitars. More metallic (no pun intended) sound is the way to go and makes it stand out more.
Great technical players but its just boring musically imo. There are way more fun techdeath bands around.
@@2scrimble9Like who? Drop names.
Never clicked so fast. Jared on bass is divine. Such talent. Such sound. Awesome video. Stay tech.
that was fast !
He actually writes and plays all the guitar parts on the albums as well. Dean and Tobi are just there to fill for live shows.
I hear there's strong animosity between him and the guitarists because he has hair
I hope you know that's not true WT
@@NeedsMorePinchHarmonics Thats a joke.
@@NeedsMorePinchHarmonics your mother knew that was a joke.
what do you mean, i bet he didnt wrote all the riffs, or maybe your post was some kind of joke xd

It's much more interesting to listen to because of that.
The part on Golden Mouth of Ruin where he just casually mirrors a crazy sweeping guitar solo like it's no big deal. Who the fuck even thinks of doing that????
Mind blown and face melted. My man taps for like 50% of the song. Absolutely insane! Stay Tech!
The intro is just pure auditory bliss.
I love the little eyebrow raise at 3:24
Like, "Hey, that left hand there is pretty good, I wonder whose it is? Oh, it's mine!"
The funny thing is that he KNEW how hard this song was to play and still put himself through this just for us... what a guy.
This song is just absolutely beautiful. The entire Bleed the Future album is massively addicting. I can't wait to see what Archspire does next. Y'all please come to Houston again soon.
I love hearing Archspire songs from this perspective. It makes me appreciate them so much more.

Jared *after he blows your mind with that intro* : it's my time to shine
The tone on this bass is unparalleled. Dingwall nailed it.
Everyone in this band is inhuman.. so crazy talented!
Incredibly incredible. 🤯
All you Archspires are just re-gawd-damn-diculous.
🤘👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
YES FINALLY ANOTHER BASS PLAYTHROUGH!!
My favorite bass player, can't wait to see them next month
You and I both.
Same!
Legitimately what the heck. This man continues to push his writing to the next level with every release. Absolutely stunned at the tapping composition. He’s literally carving new territory for the bass guitar.
You should check out Charles Berthoud. He does tonnnnns of crazy stuff with tapping and slapping.
Equally as amazing as the 2 guitar parts. This whole band is full of amazing musicians.
I love this guy’s mix of guitar and bass technique- the whole band is beyond this world! Great job Jared, and mad respect to the whole damn band.
I met Jared at their Charlotte show. Had to mention how many times I've watched this video. Stunning. Every single time.
Proper bonkers-mental crazy. Just when you think you've seen their maddest technical stuff, they outdo themselves all over again. That Dingwall looks and sounds amazing. Im getting myself one, and practicing like monk this summer. Damn you Jared!!

@@carlchameleon9847 7 string version or gtfo
I don't know what I envy more, the skills or the hair. Obviously both.
God damn it man, every video, every single one is just amazing. He needs to do playthroughs for every song they write. I'd watch the shit out that
Still awaiting an Abandon the Linear playthrough! The bass is right in the spotlight on that tune in particular
That's some serious playing. Beautiful song as well.
the mind blowing part for me is the fact that they can write the most melodic heavy riffs, while still writing the prettiest clean sections in all of metal
This is my favorite track on the album, and my favorite in general of Archspire.
I need to watch more videos. Incredible musician!
I wish archspire make playthrough video of all their songs, it is so satisfying to watch 🖤🤘🖤🤘
Master craftsman in the bass! 🤘🏻
jered is for sure one of my fave bassists
My favorite bass guitarist. Proud to tell everyone this beast is a fellow hoser!! Canadian death metal to the front!!

Awesome! More bass playthroughs from Bleed the Future, please! I would love to see the title track next.
One of the most beautiful bass I ever seen. Also the guy rips.
Cannot wait to finally see these guys I'm Brooklyn in less than a month and a half. Fucking STOKED.
Always a pleasure to watch Jared play.
I thought he got fired and replaced by midi bass?
They switched back cause they found jared was more consistent.
they outsourced the midi work into the very human looking bassist you see in this video
This thing has a TRIPLE bucker??? Wtf dingwall, some crazy shit that I now want!
Probs my fav song of the album, I remember the first time I heard i was head thrashing constantly
Damm Jared that was ultra dope asf I'm stoked to see you guys live on the 28th in Portland
Hands down best metal bassist of this generation
Id say its forest lapointe
Gorgeous looking finish!
Beautiful Bassline, wonderful playthrough, amazing composition!! I need to try it!! 👏🏼👏🏼
Low chords on a bass always get me chubbed. Love these guys 🤘
WOW!!! Tremendous!!! What beast of a bass player!!!
How am I just learning about this guy? Wow!
Gorgeous bass guitar❤
That intro is just..... *chefs kiss*
Six strings, three pickups, five knobs, and one bad mother fucker to shred it. Beautiful.
Thank you for being you 🙏🙏🙏
Tremendous! Easily one my favourite pieces from the album.
Jared and a beautiful Dingwall..what a great way to start my morning 🔥
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥What a Smorgasbord of Sound. Astounding forward thinking technicality and innovation.
Saw him live and it was maybe the cleanest show I ever seen
Brutal bassist ,greetings from Nayarit México

These videos are a bass masterclass
The beautifull intro in bass i've ever heard ❤❤
What an incredibly articulate player. I remember 30 years ago I was happy to learn an Iron Maiden riff…
Beautiful!

insane play-through, Jared is just inhuman
*Literally* the GOAT
Fucking incredible, as is to be expected with this band.
Let's see Davie504 try this!

I love this band
He’s plucking 32nd notes at around 155-160bpm…. PLUCKING THEEEEEEEM
legally changing my name to jared and growing out my hair to harness this bass playing power
Really amazing tone and feel
His bass sounds so beautiful 😍😍
3:40 what the fuck I had to rewatch about 20 times and then a few more at 0.5X speed to even grasp what was going on
Drain of Incarnation is a masterpiece!
Beautiful.
Brutal as always.
best tech metal bassist in the game right now.
Dude... The f*#k was that!? You slaughter that damn bass. So good
Absolutely beautiful instrument. Those slanted frets look tricky to play on
He's a beast, like everyone is this band.
I always hear “peanut butter jelly time” in this song and it makes me love it more
Right when I read this, I heard it.
That intro is so damn cool
My seed production went up 1000% because of this bass. respect
That was epic af
The english languagr really needs the letter Ö. Cause that bass goes DÖNG!
so DÖNG!

What kind of top is that and color?
