Almost 6 years here. It's very hard to make friends and I don't want to make friends with people at work. (Corporate America is weird) I would never have imagined my life being anxious about that. I'm from South America, and I lived in Buenos Aires for 10 years, where most of the people are open, social and straightforward. Here I had to learn how to act and what to say but at the same time I don't want to change those things because I feel that's my real essence. Anyway, maybe someday I'll try meetup to get more used to to people again, otherwise I will end moving somewhere. Thanks for your tips!
@@sandrasalinas2081 I’m sorry you’re experiencing that, and you should never dull down who you are! Hopefully you’ll find people who of a similar mindset to you ❤️
@@pryncecharming2133 I hope you have a good experience when you get here! January will be a little tough since more people are hibernating, but I wish you the best on your friend finding journey! ❤️
I lived here for 4 years and I feel the only way to make friends here for me is to hangout with transplants or Minnesotans from a town a few hours away that I never heard of. It’s mostly people in the cities that are more cold in my experience.
I can totally understand that! It is uncomfortable and confusing when people aren't direct 😅. It's a behavior I've been in the process of changing for years! Have you made friends since you moved here? Have you found that people appreciate your directness? I think a lot of people here do, because it's not the norm!
I live in St Paul and I am a very direct person and I guess it freaks people out, but I can’t change who I am. I rarely find anyone with my interests here. I have met and kept maybe 4 friends in 25 years here. But those friends are the best people I have ever known. Anyone in MN who likes metal music and horror films? If so they are hiding from me.
Don’t change who you are! And having 4 close friends instead of 10-20 surface friends sounds great in my opinion. Do you like electronic music? I ask because there are TONS of people in that scene that also love metal music. You should check out Communion at the Pourhouse!! And who doesn’t love horror movies?! Personally, I love the more paranormal horror movies when compared to the serial killer ones. Poltergeist will always hold a special place in my heart haha

@@Sevenninefine I’m sorry that’s been your experience. Friends that are transplants are just as good!
Hello! Thank you for your content 😊
Thank you for watching! Are you a transplant?
@@KaraCleveland nope, born and raised on a dairy farm in Loretto MN. Suburbs of the cities.
1:57 Yes, our famous Minnesota ice. Good luck asking your gym teachers to hang out. Hopefully they woon't consider that a trangression!
As a Boston transplant... The Minnesota nice thing makes me uncomfortable lmao
