I love how fun and comfortable these ladies are. When watching I feel like I am sitting around with a couple of my crafty friends sharing ideas on how to use this cool product. ;D
This is genius! I was looking for YT videos on how to create soft spines in bookmaking and discovered Kraft-tex. I can't believe there's an easy faux leather-like option that lets you paint and emboss on it as you would paper!!!!
Just found this channel and just ordered a roll of craft tex. Can't wait to get started. I live in a rural area in TN or I would have just jumped in the car and run out and bought some so I could start today. By the way do either of you know of any really easy tutorials for the silhouette cameo. I just had to have one and have had it over a year and never used it. I don't know why it intimidates me so much. I usually think of myself as much braver than that. I just have a block against any thing electronic. Go figure. You two are so cute together and look like you would be so much fun.
Can I use a double sided iron-on fusible like Pelion Wonder-Under to attach kraft-Tex to Kraftex? Not where strength is needed, but for attaching small pieces of Kraf-tex to a larger piece of Kraf-Tex for appliqué. I saw your vid on appliqué, but I don’t want to sew this or use glue. Thank you!
Was going to make bags out of this BUT....after washing and drying it, I could easily rip it apart with my fingers. Kind of worried about the strength. Did I do something wrong to make it weaker?
Hi Mary, great question! We do have a few tips for sewing with the Kraft-tex - particularly when making bags. I actually like to boil my Kraft-tex in a stock pot with a little fabric softener for about 3 minutes and then hang/lay it flat to dry. Heating the kraft-tex to such a high temperature allows the binder in it to soften and creates a real supple leather-like feel. If you don't want to go to all that trouble, you can wash it on the hottest setting your washing machine has - but I'd still lay it flat to dry rather than putting it in the dryer. If you need it to flatten out even more to get an accurate cut, you can press it with your iron on a fairly hot setting as well. I found this step helps significantly, especially if I've got a tote with boxed corners that I'll need to turn. Secondly, because this material is not woven, it does perforate when sewing with it - so I highly recommend lengthening your stitch if you haven't already. My machine's regular stitch length is set to 2.5 - but when sewing Kraft-tex, I'll bump it up to 3, that way my stitches aren't so far apart that they will pull out like a basting stitch, but not so close that it would weaken the seam. Last but not least, if you're still concerned it will perforate, a little lightweight fusible stabilizer fused to the inside will help without change the over-all structure and feel of the Kraft-tex. I hope this helps!
Is there a tutorial that shows simply how to add a spine onto a journal ? Hidden spine and not hidden spine. I want to add signatures with craft tex! I’m a little confused. One tutorial showed a accordion method which is way to complicated….. thank you for your time ❤️
kraft-tex is not waterproof; it will soak through. It may be possible to waterproof it through a surface treatment, as you would with fabric or leather.
Why is this the first time I have heard of this miraculous material/fabric????
I just learned about it the first Friday of January 2024, two days ago!! I'm here researching on it before i attempt the challenge!

I cant find the answer to my question anywhere, is this material plastic free?
How durable is kraft-tex? May I know how many times can you wash it? And it’s life span?
What material can you use from the Cricut machine, iron on or permanent vinyl?
Thanks for these great videos, I'm new to Kraftex - can you paint on it ? If so, what paint and do you need to seal it? Thanks
I thought they said you can use acrylic paint

I am wondering.
What is the recipe for DIY Kraft Tex?
Please share.
Thank you.
I love to use Kraft-Tex! Fantastic new colors, too! Thank you!

Can you use a sealer on Kraft-tex?
Where can I find bolts of Kraftex?
Also love the presentation, you two are very funny~!
Would you use this product to make a belt?
Have Kraftex but not many ideas so this is great!
I don't sew - can I use glue? What kind is best?
Did you ever get an answer to this? I am wanting this for a project that is glued, not sewn!
Wow love this- I am going to get this ! I'm excited to use it! Thank you so much!
Yay! You are so welcome. We'd love to see what you make!
I don't have any Kraft Tex yet . Almost all of it is out of stock right now. Hopefully they will be stocked soon.
Hi Ladies, what size needle do you use? Thx

Hi there - I don't think we have a specific video showing that technique, but there are a lot out there if you search book binding methods.
Can you use alcohol ink?
Yes! Permanent alcohol-based ink should work well with kraft-tex. We always recommend testing on a small piece first.
Amazing
Is this just dyed interface fabric
Hi Lorraine - Kraft-tex is not a type of interfacing. It is it's own special paper-based fabric and isn't the same texture as a stiff interfacing.
Can you iron Kraf-tex?
You can!
How waterproof is this? Thanks for the vid.

Can you Machine embroidery on it?
Yes, you can!
At first I thought it was a SNL skit like the one they had for PBS... then I realized it was serious
