I'm so excited I found this video. I have a roll of the black and a roll of the chocolate brown to use. When I bought them on Amazon I didn't see the smaller variety pack. I wish I would have bought that instead lol . Now I can make a faux leather journal covers. 😊 Thanks for the tip on softening it to , I didn't know that. Looking forward to more videos 😊
Julie these are amazing how fun it play with a new medium. Thanks for sharing. Great info. ~ I love making traveler Notebook. I've only made B6 size so far. Much love ~ Roxanne
I’m new to Kraft Tex and bought a starter pack…. I’ve been watching videos about it but I’m confused as to how to make a spine to attach my signatures… can you help me to understand how to do this? I use cereal boxes as my covers most times and occasionally use chipboard. Thank you for your time ❤️
Let me find one of videos where I share how to use Kraft Tex as a cover. I will attach it it to you. Give me a bit as I have to look over many videos I did to find it.
Hi Julie, Good video girl!! I bought some glycerin finally after watching this. thank you so much. I am right now trying to make a small journal with Kraftex but I dont have any glycerin! I was wondering why it wasn't soft and pliable! so thanks hon!! Hee hee
Betty Calkins wonderful Betty! Enjoy working with the Krafttex....you’ll probably be able to do many more amazing things with it then I do! Love and hugs!🥰
Will the watercolors and water-soluble inks (like Distress Inks) lift if the journal gets wet? That could be messy if caught in the rain or you spill coffee on it.
Judy Pelham hi Judy. The colors may lift slightly, however with my experience the krafttex the color goes into the fibers quite well. You can always use a sealer spray on the top if your concerned. I use sealer sprays all the time over my journal covers. Hope that helps.
Pamela Haukaas thanks for watching Pamela. The Kraft Tex edges are smooth and do not fray. If you add cloth to the inside I fold the edges and iron before sewing. I like to use a fabric glue for adhering the fabric to the kraft Tex or the two layers of kraft Tex together...but in a pinch I’ve used Aileen’s tacky glue. It is just too wet for my liking though with fabric.
Pamela Haukaas yes, I use it often for coating cards, bags etc, decoupage and different things....I believe I’ve uploaded some videos where I have used it in some projects. I make my own now. I don’t like it as a glue.
Agatha hi Agatha, I actually don’t even measure it I go by how soft and playable the paper is... if I has to guess I’d say 1/4 glycerin to 3/4 water. Add a squirt more glycerin if it doesn’t seem soft enough.
Hi Julie. New Subbie here. Could you share where you got the picture of the different size journals from? I am thinking that would be handy to have pinned to my wall so I would know what size to make my journals.
Leighann Taylor I find that if I don’t soften it it has a tendency to look cracked where you make folds...it’s very stiff. I believe you can even wash it first to soften it.

Enjoyed all of your ideas. How do you adhere the cloth to the inside; what about raw edges? Thanks in advance

@@juliestine1235 Thank you. Have you ever used Mod Podge?
Pamela Haukaas yes, I use it often for coating cards, bags etc, decoupage and different things....I believe I’ve uploaded some videos where I have used it in some projects. I make my own now. I don’t like it as a glue.
what is the glycerin/water ratio?
I believe I did 4 to 1 ratio. 4 parts water to 1 part glycerin.
Did I miss the ratio of glycerin to water? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

@@juliestine1235 Thank yoiu so much for the quick response! Just so happens I have some Kraft-tex & glycerin. Definitely going to try this this week.

Is it necessary to soften the Kraft Tex for TN's
Leighann Taylor I find that if I don’t soften it it has a tendency to look cracked where you make folds...it’s very stiff. I believe you can even wash it first to soften it.
@@juliestine1235 do you cut it to size first
Do you use eyelets? Sorry for so many questions
Leighann Taylor I prefer to cut it to size before I soften and ink it.
Leighann Taylor I usually do for my TN’s but you can just sew into the spine if you prefer...all personal preference.
