Ifor Williams GD84 Trailer How to Adjust the Brakes

A little how to video of brake adjustment.
The brakes on my trailer were not up to scratch and when the handbrake was applied, one side still wouldn't hold and the handbrake came up too far.
I hope this helps since I couldn't seem to find a decent video to help me.
All I needed was a 17mm spanner and 17mm socket and ratchet and 30 minutes.

A lot easier to remove the road wheels to access the adjuster bolt on the back of the drum. That’s the back of the backplate, not front or rear side of the drum!
To be honest most brake rods once set don’t need much if any adjustment. Adjusting the brake shoes with the adjuster bolt is adequate.

Just doing this job today but as I understand it, when turning the wheels backwards they should partially rotate before re-locking, and for each wheel the handbrake will rise as the compensator re-applies the brake. I don't think you turned them hard enough. When doing this (or using the handbrake when rolling the trailer backwards) the handbrake will come right up towards the vertical. Otherwise, a great vid.

ahh I see, thanks for the tip, it will help others too. I'm due to look at the brakes in greater detail soon because when reversing the brakes lock on nearly all the time. I think new shoes and cables and a new damper is needed. question is do I make a video..
