When you are a gardening enthusiast, and grow your own tomatoes and herbs, including basil, this is a brilliant recipe to showcase their goodness. Cheers!
@@juliastain1677 nah, i think this is just how she cooks. You think shes going to waste all that tomatos? My mom cooka the same way, doesnt measure a thing. She feels for it. Theyre good chefs
You are by far one of my favorite youtube chefs. I really like the way you present the recipe and make it seem so easy that I wouldn't be afraid to try even if it was my first time cooking. This had endless variations possible too. I want spinach in mine!
Love that you didn't add any heavy cream to this. At home, I usually pop in about a handful of raw cashew for that extra creamy, hearty texture. Works like a charm ;)
I "really, really" love KerryAnn! Beautiful and charismatic! Yummy recipe. Looking forward to making it when the weather cools down in a month or two. Greetings from Texas!
If you're ever in America, we have a company called Campbells who makes tomato soup ready to eat. I know it's not fresh, but it takes almost no time and effort and tastes good. Nothing against the nice lady in the video, but that's a lot of time and effort for tomato soup. So, options are good.
Good homemade soup. I had a problem roasting the tomatoes at 220 degrees but then realized that I needed it to be 425 F. 220 was Celsius. You can probably also consume this cold like a glass of tomato juice. It tastes like V-8 without all the salt.
I just made the soup and absolutely loved it 😍 I jused fresh, sun-ripened tomatoes out of my mothers garden and added an onion. Even though I did not add any surgar, honey or sweet paprika power it still was very sweet and delicious. There won't be anything left :D This meal will be added to my recipe-collection. Kerry Ann, you did a good job.
This is great but don't be shy to throw a can of tomato paste in to the base if you want it to have a bit of structure/base...fry it up in Olive Oil first then add your stock...go with the rest of the recipe from there...very good...happy eating.!!!!!
Will make this for my sister! Thanks! Looks delicious! age loves it with cheese toast sandwich! She usually has soup from a packet.. made with corn starch.. I'm sure this will be healthier! and I can freeze it too! Great! loved ur apron btw!
Nice, I now know what's for dinner next Thursday :) Also; Next time I make my tomato-lentil-carrot soup I will skip the canned tomatoes and just roast some fresh ones instead.
Toothless Night Fury Sure, heres the basic recepe for 8 portions: 2 Yellow onion, chopped 2 teaspoons of oil and/or butter 20 dl of vegetable stock, tho I usually use veg and something else, like chicken or veal. 4 dl of red lentils, rinced. 4 teaspoons of paprikapowder 4 bayleafs 2 cans of crushed tomatoes (2x400 g) 4 cloves of garlic 1 tablespoons of redwine/sherry-vinegar 1 teaspoon of thyme 2 teaspoons of basil 2 teaspoons of salt My twist is adding two large carrots, shredded. In a big pot (+3L); fry the onions for a bit, and then add the shredded carrots, when the onion is soft add the stock, tomatoes, spices and bring to a boil. Boil it for 5-10 minutes and then add the lentils and continue to boil for an additional 10-15 minutes. Add the vinegar when it's done. Use one of those stick-blenders to mix it to a desirable consistency. It's my favorite soup, cost next to nothing too (6-8 sek, ~0.8€ per portion)
more kerryann videos pls! totally random, but i noticed that a lot of people from london speak without g's in their gerunds (ex. cookin', roastin') and pronounce the "th" sound like an "f". i wonder if this is a really specific accent.
you are witnessing cockney. cockney is usually a lot stronger than this, so I'd wager she's not a true cockney, but yeah that's a bit of a cockney accent
It's called a common accent. Slightly less strong than a cockney accent. Cockneys are from East London look up Mickey Flanigan if you wanna hear a true cockney. She sounds like she is from South London to me, but I could be wrong.
In my understanding, tomato vine is quite poisonous; it can upset the stomach which can result in serious diarrhea. however using small quantity may not be a big deal but I think it is better to let viewers be alert since there could be someone who may allergic to tomato vine.
Never known anyone who had stomach upset from fried or pickled green tomatoes. I doubt using small amounts of tomato vine in a recipe would cause problems. www.nytimes.com/2009/07/29/dining/29curi.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 www.thekitchn.com/are-tomato-leaves-actually-poisonous-222259
+Jamie Oliver What kind of plant? I can't hear it, and I'm dutch and doesn't help that I also just can't see what kind of plant it is. Because I don't know :x
In that last half hour I would put in lots of veggies, if you eat meat maybe some meatballs to make it more filling. I eat soup as a whole meal, so just a bowl of blended/mashed tomatoes isn't filling enough for me, so for me it would be a tomato/veggie soup. But the idea of roasting them is nice, I allway use tins of chopped ones, will try the roasting when I make tomatosoup
Astrid S That's not the point. This is a roasted tomato soup recipe, not vegetable soup, not tomato and meatball soup, not tomato bisque and not shepherd's pie.
Made this today and just added a red onion to the tomato roast to give it a kick! I then strained the soup after mixing for a nice smooth consistency. Amazing recipe!
KerryAnn you are my favourite foodtuber by far! Absolutely putting your book on the Christmas list. Lots of love from New Zealand - your recipes are awesome for working mum of toddler X
I have a overflow of tomatoes and just canned 12 liters tomato sauce... checked a lot of vids here on youtube but most use storebought crushed tomatoes and I wanna use fresh ones... this recipe seems simple and im gonna try it out this weekend! ♥♥♥
There is no point in roasting the vine stubs and then throwing them out. Toss them into the pot for the first cooking then throw them out before blending.

This looks great but its not. I tried it and the flavour is far from intense. Very mediocre. Also it serves 4 people not 8... or maybe i just eat a lot

Canned tomatoes or tomato paste tend to have a tinny metallic taste to it but if you were to make your own it would do well
better still grab some juicy plum tomato out of the garden will thicken it up nicely and leave a lovely sweet taste

Maybe concentrate on the cooking and less on giving erroneous health advice.

Love tomato soup, got your book, so no excuses for not making it.
I don’t make any other tomato soup than this, it’s become our family’s favorite in the past two years😊and it’s so simple!
Note to self: PEEL THE TOMATOES, YOUR BLENDER ISN'T THAT STRONG
Otherwise, I'm in love with this soup.
I always like adding a dab of creme fraiche just before I eat it :) Makes it a lot smoother like Sebi20070 said!
I love your recipes and you make it so simple for everyone. Especially busy mums. X

Hi! I couldnt hear it properly, 1.7 litre of vegetable what? Thanks!
And we just have the vegetable stock laying around... FAIL.
I made this soup and make a video about it.
It was awesome.
Thanks.
Just great Roasted Tomato Soup 🌹
while watching this video I decide to make it, and it already smells delicious.
looks good. I like my final soup a bit chunkier So wouldn't blend it or not blend it that much though. but I'll definitely try this recipe
Why not roasting the tomatoes longer and you will save time on boiling them in the stock!
Tried it, it's boss......more like 4 bottles of olive oil though 😁
It's difficult to understand you because of the accent. What are the leaves you threw in the roast pan? Tomato vine?
Mine was sour. I used 4 beef tomatoes. 1kg. Not happy. It maybe the tomatoes were not fully ripe.
I was feeling sick since morning....even watching this recipe made me feel sooo goods✌😘😍😍😍
How should I make "vegetable stock"? A little hint would be appreciated!
