well i'd love to say you saved me 1000.00 but unfortunately I didn't watch your video the first time I had this problem but now that I've had this problem a second time on a completely different vehicle I watched your video and saved myself 500.00 thanks so much for putting this up.
as a locksmith, i have had a customer call me ,because their vats key did not start their auto, i told them to wet two fingers and clean the resistor off and wipe it clean, then insert it back into the igition,,,wa-la she worked fine,,,
All you need to do (on vats only, not passlock) is cut the 2 white wires off the steering column and put a resistor in there (on the bcm side) that has the same value as your key. and thats it.
I have had this problem on a 2003 GMC savanna for approximately four years now. It was diagnosed by some repair shop and supposedly fixed but never worked right. I still have the security issue. I would always turn the ignition off, for 10 minutes or less, waiting for the security light to go away. Recently I accidentally put the vehicle in neutral after security light came on and it started. Ever since I’ve had the security light issue, my resolution has been to stick it in neutral the security light goes off and I start the vehicle. Give it a try it cost nothing.
Best advise I have for that is try spiking the system like the end of my video explains, If that dont work all you can do is replace the bcm with the one where the motor came from our call a locksmith with a scan tool to reprogram the bcm, Theres still hope for you
@MrHdradeon I used the final method, the vehicle I did this with made all kinds of funy sounds and changed the clock on the radio rapidly etc for the 30 minutes that I left the key in the on position. I then turned the key to off and tried to start it and it worked just like nothing was ever wrong. Since this fix was implemented I have had no problems what so ever.
I have 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, (which is one of the cars you mentioned this would not work on), with an automatic transmission. How do I disarm passlock on this vehicle? Theft light stays on solid all the time, no flashing & will run for approx 3 secs after cycling the key. Great video by the way! Thanks.
I think youre name is Vincent... At least thats what the guys at my remote start shop up here in Anchorage. We use youre techniques as standard practice after watching youre videos. You mentioned in one of youre videos that you can make remote starts that were made for automatics work for manuals. If you could tell me over a comment reply and.if you have time make a new video of it. I thank you so much for youre teaching
Marty, you stated at 8:40 that the pink wire is crank. I believe purple is crank (a few were yellow), and pink is ignition (during crank and during run). Red is high, orange is fan, brown is accy's.
yeah, those are rf immobilizers, theyre installed at the dealer by aftermarket expeditors, they used to be real popular cause theyre simple and provide an insurance discount
Just wanted to let anyone looking know, my 04 cadillac cts 3.6 had a security lock up. I did the relearn (leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes). That worked so I drove it to the parts store, had it scanned, and then it locked up again. This time, no matter what I did, it would not do the relearn again. I was about to take a $1600 hit from cadillac so I said; let me try one more thing. CRC QD contact cleaner in the ignition lock cylinder and on the ecm connections ( I think it was the lock cylinder ) fired right up. Moral of the story; anyone with a 96up gm should have a can of contact cleaner in the trunk.
totally awesome video, worked like a charm! i used a 50 ohm resistor, a 2 pack was like 2 bucks at radio shack, again, awesome video great detail and instruction!
First, You need to get the cars existing resistance, Once you have it you put that same value resistor in there (on the car side of the yellow wire) I just invested in a HD camera so the close ups will get better btw...
I'm here as a locksmith troubleshooting my passlock system in an 04 Impala. I can't get the car to learn the new resistance with any given method. Any suggestions before I replace and relearn the BCM?
Delete the VATS system from the BCM by taking the fuel injector enable line from the ECU to the BCM and tying it to ground at either 30hz or 50hz (hz = cycles per second) using a 555 timer some capacitors diodes and a transistor. Use the run circuit to enable the power to the 555 timer. Once that's working, you can pull the VATS wires out of the car. You can put a relay on the power to the 555 timer to allow another security system to interrupt the fuel injector, or make the 555 timer circuit into a module, encapsulated in epoxy, and use it like a key.
@lesscoelectronics I have a 1999 GMC Yukon that the security light came on solid and it won't start I've done a lot of research on the passlock security how to fix or bypass it, my question is on your very last tip to use the resistor and let the key on for 30 minutes will that make the security light go off also??
DUDE!!!!! The resistor worked on my 2001 saturn L300 I've been working on this SOB for weeks fix'n code's and chasing ghosts.. I did everything to disable that got damn passlock. When I saw this I went to the car cut the yellow wire. I then placed a 580 ohm 1/2 watt resistor. I thin used starting fluid to get the car to run long enough for the passlock to shut the hell up. I rotated the key about 40 times and BAM. THINK YOU THANK YOU . . Yeeehaaww
About the Passlock Bypass? ( part of an old remote starter package) I wish to remove it and return to original configuration. I suspect this recently intalled Passlock Bypass to be causing excessive battery drainage. So I am confused on the procedure ( How to do it properly ) . The reason , ever since GM ignition switch recall, GM shop sent me else where to have this generic remote starter reprogramed, elsewhere garage had to replace Passlock Bypass box, and now, I notice battery drainage and it cant be that new battery I just installed. I got the remote starter out but when I removed the Passlock Bypass out of the saturn Ion I notice car passlock indicator on ( car would start anyway with the indicator on ). Could you please explain a simple procedure ?
I found a wiring Diagram for my vehicle (2006 Chevy Express 3500) I found a yellow wire in the L.Blue connector of the BCM that is the “security system sensor wire” and I also found in the Gray connector of the BCM under B7 a Tan wire that is “Security system sens low ref”. So my question is which of the two security wires get cut? Tan or Yellow?
Nick Exley Hmmm..whether to cut the Tan or Yellow...I've seen this scenario so many times in those Bomb-Squad movies. Usually, from what I've seen, get a timer, and set it for one minute and when it ticks down to the last 2 seconds, cut the Tan ...STOP...wire, NOPE, quickly cut the Yellow wire and note the timer will be at one second. Whew! That was close, but always works in the movies, and always the right choice. Hope this helps!
Per the end of the video via the permanent disable of the passlock 1, I can use ANY resistance? My winter car's tumbler is shot and I just disconnected the ignition switch and using that. I have NO way to turn the key in the ignition so that's out of the question. This video is the first instance I've seen with that trick. if this doesn't work how screwed will I be? Thanks!
I have a 1997 Buick Skylark that has been having this problem and I think we found the original problem to have been the ignition cylinder, which we replaced. We thought that the problem was fixed, but the battery needed to be replaced because all the times the key was left on to reset. So we replaced the battery and now nothing lights up on the dash etc. and will not start at all. Is it still possible to find the resistance if the car wont start? Or do I have bigger problems now?
I have a 2004 saturn ion (series 1) and my car would not start today. 50°outside and the starter would crank ..I waited 10-15 min and car finally started. I cut the white wire to the ignition on the pass lock. So far so good
Look people, this is very SIMPLE. Your ignition key has a "chip" in it, it is a resistor, that the car's computer wants to see in order to allow you to start the vehicle. There are 2 wires running from the ignition cylinder in the steering column that to to a connector under the dash to tell the car's computer that you have the correct key in the ignition cylinder. If EITHER of those two wires are broken, shorted, you car won't start. So, thee quick solution, is to solder a resistor between the two wires, that has the same resistance as the "chip" in your key, they plug it in to the wiring harness underneath the dash/kick panel. Then, your key, or ANY KEY, that is cut properly, should start the car. The only "downside" to doing this, is that somebody could "punch your ignition, turn the ignition assembly without the proper "key", and drive away. So your "security system" has been DISABLED.
Lessco Ive watched a few videos on this. I want to override/eliminate the passlock system altogether. Are the videos that show cutting the yellow wire and placing a resistor between the yellow wire and the orange/black wire and taping up the excess yellow wire that goes up to the key. Is this the right procedure? and if it is, how do I find what the resistor value should be. The videos say to measure the resistance (after you cut the yellow wire) between the yellow wire and orange/black. I get a reading 3600ohms when I measure on the strand of yellow wire going into the steering column, but when I measure the strand of yellow wire that goes up to the key it registers (infinity). Does that tell you anything?, all the other videos say I should have measurable resistance where I'm measuring infinity.
Far too complicated. Get your VATS code from the dealer (a good dealer won't charge for this) and buy a $18-$28 bypass harness on eBay. It either simply plugs in under the steering column or that wire gets snipped and it gets soldered in. I'm no brilliant mechanic or electrician but I soldered one in myself and the VATS issue is fixed.
I like your solution. I have the same problem I bought a Chevrolet Tahoe 1999 not to long ago, i though old cars had less electronic problems but i was wrong...I am trying to go to eBay and buy a bypass harness and my boys will fix it. Can we call you to give us more ideas. If you say yes, then i will give you by phone number.!!
i got an 03 monte carlo 3.4l and im sure the passlock is the issue because everything lights up but the engine won't crank what method would you recommend to fix the problem
Ok so I can't decide which method would best suit my situation, but my 02 impala every now and then with the key in the on position will blink the "Security" message on the dash 3 times indicating that the car will not crank. Then will have to wait 10 mins for another attempt in which it usually will start but sometimes it won't. which method would be best to bypass my system?
We have a 1997 Cavalier. When the weather is cold (freezing) it tries to start then immediately stops. But when it warms up outside it starts right up. Do you have any idea what this might be? Thanks
I sent a message to GM because this cannot be happening. to many people left stranded just because GM does not want to make replacement or either come out with guidelines to solve this situation . I don't know what their answer will be but I had tried many other ways with no positive results. Mine is a 99 Astro van and not to easy to fix. Thanks for your video but I got lost somewhere....
I have a 2001 corvette went through the being stranded issue with blinking Security light. New Keys did not work sprayed computer board cleaner in ignition, try anything. It worked for a day now it starts fine but the security light stays on, what should I do?? Is there a video on how to change on in a c5? My original Key has 593 ohm resistance and the new ones 600, within 10%. Can I drive it with security light on or will it shut me down when it wants to?
Its not just Chevy its other GM cars, my Saturn does that and its the only problem on the car as of now, I like to take a lighter to the key first to warm it up, that seems to help but not completely sure if it will work all the time.
I got a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with that same scenario. ( Security Light on, doesnt start, but lights and radio turn on perfectly) I was watching your video but I really cant see what is going on or how you are connecting things. I would hate to ask but can you zoom in so we can see how you are bypassing this? That would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
Difficult to see what's going on ......? That one goes there, the other there plug, this in cut this one but be careful you might burn the control module if you don't do this by the way what did you have for lunch ? Then connect that there strip this wire here ground there and the positive wire over here, now we're using a gray wire instead of a red one but don't worry they are almost the same difference .......... Got it Sir thank you.
I have an 04 gmc canyon, with the pljx bypass, and a viper alarm. Everything on alarm works besides the remote start. After hooking up the bypass and when i connect the ground when armed wire, and arm the alarm, i get power to dash lights as if i had a key in the acc position. Hopefully i explained it clearly. Please help. Thank u for any sugestions.
Also if the key is in the on position, and i try to remote start it, it works. Takeing the key out and i try to remote start it and it tryes but nothing. Please help
Good video Lessco, Question, Have watch previous version of your video on how to install remote start kit, Do you have a video on how to setup OEM Interface 3 PULSE START?, with vehicles that already have Keyless entry installed. I have a vehicle that already has a OEM remote on the key chain for unlock/lock/truck & panic. I got a RS00 G4 Add on remote start 3 pulse for vehicle that came with OEM remote. I just wanted to here how would you suggest to set this option up for 3 pulse that communicates with the system anti-theft system already installed by manufacturing. It saves time to stall less wires to set this option up. Please help, I have read the instructions, but I just want to here your expertise on this for you have made good detailed video explaining step by step. Thanks
It will be less work to do a factory add on for sure, as long as you're ok with not having the extra distance a stand alone system offers. I do have 1 piece of advice though, If you can do a 2 pulse lock to start it'll be better for you... here is why. If you hit lock on your factory remote your horn will blow 2x (on the 2nd and 3rd hits). no ones is gonna like that. I'd set it for 2 pulse activation and do lock/unlock lock on your factory remote to activate the starter.
Thanks for the advice I would rather set that option up instead, the horn would get old real quick. Started working on this project for the vehicle, Now I need to find out Y the unit light won't come on, input source is connected to the battery, checking the parking light source wiring, this unit may require battery & parking light wire to be hook up for the unit to turn on with RS00 G4, I notice that the parking light did not flash for programming. For future starter I will order from your site next time, this was brought to me for installing. Instruction say input source & parking light needs to be connected for power on light of the unit.
Lessco Electronics As I understand it, for power, once you find the manual it looks as it read to turn this unit on, you have to connect the red/back input to the (+) battery, green to the (-) lock, black/ground to chassis and final, white to parking light (+), after that it should turn the unit on or make some kind of sound. the status light did not turn on. I have on last connection to the parking light, after that, it should be game on. Operable to run. Not working on it right now, but later to finish the set.
This was done to my car and worked for years. My car will not start and I was told by the shop I need a new security module is there any other fix? I don't want to buy another one to only have this same issues years later.
I am putting a 2004 2.2 ecotec engine into my 1984 Alfa Romeo spider, and need to rid myself off passkey, I have the ecu,and a wiring harness ( I made for my car to use the ecotec) do you think this will work for my purpose?
The only right way to bypass VATS is to either have someone reprogram your ECU to bypass it, or to program it yourself if you have the tools and know how. I know of one programmer that will do it for around $100 bucks. It may not be cheap but it's cheaper than just the ignition switch for the VATS and it's permanent.
Do you have a way to bypass a Passlock for a 2002 Saturn Sl2. I'm having a hard time with this car. On your video for the passlock 2 system, on the relay side you mentioned that pin 30 should go to the car side. But on the Saturn that's the pin for the fuel pump. I really need your expertise on this matter.
I have an 2004 Chevy Impala 3.8L that cranks but won't start. Tried everything I can including replacing the crankshaft position sensor but it still shows the security light and cranks but won't start. Need help...
If youre unfamiliar with this and you dont mind tying the car up, you may want to try the last resort at the end of my video, its the easies way out for a novice. If that doesnt work out you may want to invest in the ib-plxr or the ib-gmbp / db-pass23a I sell on the website
Will one of these work for 2000 Pontiac Bonneville? Will not start since alarm was set off by accident. Also, when hitting red button on remote, alarm doesn't sound but makes thumping sound. This has to be faulty anti-theft right?
im installing a remote start and security system on a 04 tahoe that has passlock 2, will ur second method of spiking work to disable it permanantly?? also seems like instead of putting it in line wouldnt you want to run it thru the resister and to ground instead of the key switch?
do you not need a diode across the relay so it doesnt blow the remote starter? when do i need a diode as i have blown several remote starters using the door locks relay and find out later you need a relay yet no one ever puts them in the diagrams
There is a small red light that starts to blink even if the car is off (over the dash fuse box). I dont know if the previous owner had installed a immobilizer !!?? Could you please help me out!
Good video- obviously you have a great deal of experience with this problem. I'd like to see you re- do the video with closer shots of the wiring- your dialogue is excellent- but the viewer wants to see close up of the wiring, not a long shot of you. thanks
Sorry, but none of the you tube vids on this subject worked very long. I finally just put a switch between the computer and body ground and tricked it into thinking a day had passed. Always started then.
I recently installed a steering colum on a 2000 Pontiac Grand prix gt and lately it's been cutting off and then when I try to start it back up there is no dash board lights or gauges what can cause this problem
HELP! I changed my truck key switch to start the truck and also the door cylinder , now I have 2 keys one to open my truck and other to turn on ! Problem is when I lock my truck and use my key to open it , the anti theft or alarm type sound comes on and in order to turn that sound off I need to turn on the truck , HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM , thanks
My light stays on, I have 97 malibu, It took a week to start and now it will not start, I lost my keyless entry will that have any effect on the car's ability to start? I left my key in the on position it still will not start.
I got a chevy s10 ..1999..it wont start..I just buy that truck guy told me that you can star that truck with a remote control but I dont have it..how can I start that truck please need some help
hey guys, there only 12 differrent value of resistors it can be, go to the12Volt site get the resistor chart for gm vats, go to radioshack and get one of those small 10 turn potentometers with a value up to 20K ohms. stet the pot to the lowest value on the chart with it installed on the car. try to start it, if it doesnt start, key off set the pot to the next value then back on for 10 mins, do that ntill you find the right one. youll know you have the right one when it starts up!
i have a 2000 cadilliac eldorado is there a way to bypass the key security system i loat key and need to get it out of where its at befoee it gets towed please let me know anything u cam help with
I don't understand your final resort, nothing works, passlock 2 fix. after cutting wires and splicing you say, start your car and get a reading. what am I missing? the car doesn't start is the problem. HELP , 99 suburban Vortec.
what if you buy a 2001 chevy silverado from an auction that has no key..... How can you check the resistance to be able to disable the "Vehicle Anti theft system"??
+Michelle Holden Its been ages but I used to have a box that you could clip in and try all the resistor values,it will be harder without it but there are only so many values used and you could simply try them all till you have the right one.
i find the vats one confusing without wiring diagram can you email me one? way i see it 30 (with resister) is ground and 87 is when remote starting or bypassing not sure why 87a is needed? as it is still going to be resited by 30? or do you mean 30 and 87a have continuity(no resister) and run in between the cut vats wire and when relay energized the resister is on 87 going to car side? see why i need a visual lol
With an 1995 88 oldsmobile how can you bypass the security if you lost your key? me and my dad bought a new Ignition lock cylinder, but all we hear is a clicking noise instead of any turn over. we have a feeling it has something to do with the new key lacking the security resistor, any help?
also different car, which system does an 01 Alero have? and can you email a diag of that one? just want to bypass all together as it acts up weekly thx!
You dont have passlock 1 or 2 like my video shows, you have passlock 3, on your key there is a little plus sign on it. You should watch my vid on "cheap transponder bypass" that'll fix your syndrome with the car
Does this video cover a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville? I am having a terrible time finding things for this blasted car. Most everything I have found only applies up to 1999.
Solder the wires to the resistor in the key itself (spare key) and tuck the whole thing up under the dash. Works great and you don't have to go find a resistor.
that's not good. Easier finding one to work. Even old electronics could find one with the proper value. that's begging a theift to figure out as once they pry it to hot wire they will have the key!!
I recently purcahsed a cluster for my car and the security system will not allow the vecicle to start, one of the messages is disable starter and it has. if i do the by pass will I still have to have the cluster reprogramed?
well i'd love to say you saved me 1000.00 but unfortunately I didn't watch your video the first time I had this problem but now that I've had this problem a second time on a completely different vehicle I watched your video and saved myself 500.00 thanks so much for putting this up.

Thank you it worked on my 2010 gmc
I'm no locksmith so I went ahead and wet two fingers and wiped it clean for her. There was very little resistance.
All you need to do (on vats only, not passlock) is cut the 2 white wires off the steering column and put a resistor in there (on the bcm side) that has the same value as your key. and thats it.

Your neutral safety switch, on the tranny, is faulty.
Ive done it many time smyself, It works, Best of luck
Best advise I have for that is try spiking the system like the end of my video explains, If that dont work all you can do is replace the bcm with the one where the motor came from our call a locksmith with a scan tool to reprogram the bcm, Theres still hope for you

Do the last part of the vid where you relearn the bcm a new code, its a winner
Just wanted to let anyone looking know, my 04 cadillac cts 3.6 had a

My truck doesn't have a trunk. But thanks for the info. I just happen to have a can of that CRC.
@SkeeterMcgeerm
Youre very welcome
totally awesome video, worked like a charm! i used a 50 ohm resistor, a 2 pack was like 2 bucks at radio shack, again, awesome video great detail and instruction!
Hahaha Lessco Brandon! Thanks for the tutorial. I now hate the passlock system in the truck. Gonna have to do this.
First, You need to get the cars existing resistance, Once you have it you put that same value resistor in there (on the car side of the yellow wire) I just invested in a HD camera so the close ups will get better btw...
Success! Thats fantastic, Good for you buddy!
Try my last resort method (spiking the vats system), I think that may be your best option if the car is that far gone.
Try the last part of my video where I force the computer to learn a new resistor.
I'm here as a locksmith troubleshooting my passlock system in an 04 Impala. I can't get the car to learn the new resistance with any given method. Any suggestions before I replace and relearn the BCM?

you can bypass the VATS but then you end up with a parasitic power draw. battery goes dead overnight
@lesscoelectronics I have a 1999 GMC Yukon that the security light came on solid and it won't start I've done a lot of research on the passlock security how to fix or bypass it, my question is on your very last tip to use the resistor and let the key on for 30 minutes will that make the security light go off also??

Hey do if your key pellet measures less than one ohm in both directions then it’s bad I’m assuming.

How to replace key cylinder on 1997 Chevrolet blazer ?
Do you have a corvette by any chance? Im thinking thats an RF induction based starter kill system installed by GM aftermarket.

yeah this is crazy, cutting the harness and putting in a resistor is the much simpler, far more reliable, and easier way to do that.

I have a 2004 saturn ion (series 1) and my car would not start today. 50°outside and the starter would crank ..I waited 10-15 min and car finally started. I cut the white wire to the ignition on the pass lock. So far so good
Do the part of the video where I illustrate cutting the 2 white wires (vats only) and place the same resistor value thats in your ket. thats it.
Good luck
Look people, this is very SIMPLE. Your ignition key has a "chip" in
it, it is a resistor, that the car's computer wants to see in order to
allow you to start the vehicle. There are 2 wires running from the
ignition cylinder in the steering column that to to a connector
under the dash to tell the car's computer that you have the
correct key in the ignition cylinder. If EITHER of those two wires
are broken, shorted, you car won't start.
So, thee quick solution, is to solder a resistor between the
two wires, that has the same resistance as the "chip" in
your key, they plug it in to the wiring harness underneath
the dash/kick panel. Then, your key, or ANY KEY, that is
cut properly, should start the car.
The only "downside" to doing this, is that
somebody could "punch your ignition,
turn the ignition assembly without the
proper "key", and drive away. So your
"security system" has been DISABLED.

Ive watched a few videos on this.
Just solder in a resistor for 50 cent.

Were to acquire said resister.

@SkeeterMcgeerm did you used the last method on the video or the method with the relay?
i got an 03 monte carlo 3.4l and im sure the passlock is the issue because everything lights up but the engine won't crank what method would you recommend to fix the problem
Wow very cool 😎
Thanks 😁
Ok so I can't decide which method would best suit my situation, but my 02 impala every now and then with the key in the on position will blink the "Security" message on the dash 3 times indicating that the car will not crank. Then will have to wait 10 mins for another attempt in which it usually will start but sometimes it won't. which method would be best to bypass my system?
We have a 1997 Cavalier. When the weather is cold (freezing) it tries to start then immediately stops. But when it warms up outside it starts right up. Do you have any idea what this might be? Thanks
Would this work on a 2012 malibu? It has a transponder key and not a resistor pellet key, I've lost all mine and refuse to pay 300$ to get a new one.
***** You can drive it forever with that light on, Ive seen it many times.
Also for the "VATS"......what it the key has no chip......How do I check the resistance??
Its not just Chevy its other GM cars, my Saturn does that and its the only problem on the car as of now, I like to take a lighter to the key first to warm it up, that seems to help but not completely sure if it will work all the time.
I got a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with that same scenario. ( Security Light on, doesnt start, but lights and radio turn on perfectly)
I was watching your video but I really cant see what is going on or how you are connecting things. I would hate to ask but can you zoom in so we can see how you are bypassing this? That would be extremely helpful.
Thanks.
How would I bypass the NATS on my 2005 Altima? I've gone through 3 bcm, and 3ecms with matching keys and nothing works.
Please help
only if your theft or security is blinking during crank, that'll always occur while the factory anti theft is acting up.
Marquan HollaAtYaBOY what is a RS00 G4, is that a crimestopper addon remote starter? you didn't really say
Yes sir, it is exactly a crimestopper remote - Its a ADD ON REMOTE STARTER for OEM interface systems....thanks Lessco.
I have a 2003 chevy ventura van. Do you happen to know where the onstar box is located in this vehicle? Thank you for any advice.
This was done to my car and worked for years. My car will not start and I was told by the shop I need a new security module is there any other fix? I don't want to buy another one to only have this same issues years later.
I am putting a 2004 2.2 ecotec engine into my 1984 Alfa Romeo spider, and need to rid myself off passkey, I have the ecu,and a wiring harness ( I made for my car to use the ecotec) do you think this will work for my purpose?
the alpha spyders are cool
Will getting a new key& doing the 10 min. programming thing fix this? Thank you! Stuck w/no way to go until fixed & no money!
I saw a video where a guy did that and it worked! I'm ready to try it myself if I can't find someone do the bypass for me.
What do you do when the resistor part of the ignition switch is okay but the passlock module is bad
No, a bad ground wouldnt cause your passlock to act up.
Chances are you didnt let leave the key on long enough to learn the new resistor value. Slow it down and give the car a chance to relearn the r code
im installing a remote start and security system on a 04 tahoe that has passlock 2, will ur second method of spiking work to disable it permanantly??
also seems like instead of putting it in line wouldnt you want to run it thru the resister and to ground instead of the key switch?
do you not need a diode across the relay so it doesnt blow the remote starter? when do i need a diode as i have blown several remote starters using the door locks relay and find out later you need a relay yet no one ever puts them in the diagrams
Where is the resister thing on the Saturn Ion key?
Give 2 technical manual you're holding stuff that we can't even see you need to bring it closer to the camera or something
There is a small red light that starts to blink even if the car is off (over the dash fuse box). I dont know if the previous owner had installed
a immobilizer !!?? Could you please help me out!
Need help wat wire is the passlock on 04 impala help
Good video- obviously you have a great deal of experience with this problem. I'd like to see you re- do the video with closer shots of the wiring- your dialogue is excellent- but the viewer wants to see close up of the wiring, not a long shot of you.
thanks

@sr20kschmitz
Ive done it many times, its a winner every time
Sorry, but none of the you tube vids on this subject worked very long.
+Niyanna Moore Not sure, may be a mechanical thing, Have you looked at the cars diagnostics yet?
If you live in Toronto could you bypass the VATS on my 98 Cadillac Deville?
@roro879 then I would do the last section where yoy relearn the system
OK resistors come in different wattage. 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1.0, etc. Which is right one for say '97 DeVille. 3.74ohm key slug. THX
My light stays on, I have 97 malibu, It took a week to start and now it will not start, I lost my keyless entry will that have any effect on the car's ability to start? I left my key in the on position it still will not start.
What if you lost the key and replaced tumbler?
U figure it out let me know
I got a chevy s10 ..1999..it wont start..I just buy that truck guy told me that you can star that truck with a remote control but I dont have it..how can I start that truck please need some help
hey guys, there only 12 differrent value of resistors it can be, go to the12Volt site get the resistor chart for gm vats, go to radioshack and get one of those small 10 turn potentometers with a value up to 20K ohms. stet the pot to the lowest value on the chart with it installed on the car. try to start it, if it doesnt start, key off set the pot to the next value then back on for 10 mins, do that ntill you find the right one. youll know you have the right one when it starts up!
i have a 2000 cadilliac eldorado is there a way to bypass the key security system i loat key and need to get it out of where its at befoee it gets towed please let me know anything u cam help with
al capone.
the fuse was a relay , I believe.
its lesscoelectronics . com btw
Home do you bypass antibody system in a 2008 and a Chevy lmplamy
i find the vats one confusing without wiring diagram can you email me one? way i see it 30 (with resister) is ground and 87 is when remote starting or bypassing not sure why 87a is needed? as it is still going to be resited by 30? or do you mean 30 and 87a have continuity(no resister) and run in between the cut vats wire and when relay energized the resister is on 87 going to car side? see why i need a visual lol
With an 1995 88 oldsmobile how can you bypass the security if you lost your key? me and my dad bought a new Ignition lock cylinder, but all we hear is a clicking noise instead of any turn over. we have a feeling it has something to do with the new key lacking the security resistor, any help?
Current in milliamps or even microamps. Therefore a 1/8W or 1/4W resistor is plenty big.
The resister going in the yellow wire or the pink to yellow? 11:10 11:10 11:10
i have to do option two that he said but i am unsure what he meas by resister and i cant see it low quality dose annyone now?
also different car, which system does an 01 Alero have? and can you email a diag of that one? just want to bypass all together as it acts up weekly thx!
It is well worth to subscribe...
I recently purcahsed a cluster for my car and the security system will not allow the vecicle to start, one of the messages is disable starter and it has. if i do the by pass will I still have to have the cluster reprogramed?
Did you put the matching resistor value between that cut yellow (engine side) and the black?
