      @@CarsWithSteve I do have a question about the massage seats. Do you have to get the 30 way for the massage seats? The Explorer ST has massagers so I would think all Aviators would?

      You need to get the 30 way to get the massage seats. It’s interesting what they didn’t choose to carry over into the Explorer. An Explorer with air suspension could be interesting off-road..

      @@CarsWithSteve Getting ready to visit kids in Denver, driving up from here in southwest Colorado. Coming home over Wolf Creek Pass, we normally would put our car in low coming down the very steep west slope of the mountain to keep from riding the brake. How should I do that for the Aviator?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@annbrown4110 The Aviator doesn't have a low gear. You do have the option of setting Hill Descent Control for downhill slopes between 3-20 mph (5-32 km/h). It'll hold the vehicle at the selected top speed so that you can focus on the steering wheel.

      Extended warranty is all over the place for what's included, number of kms/years of coverage, number of service appts etc. Best bet is to talk with the finance manager when you are getting quoted on one

    re Navigation -- any means of entering latitude and longitude figures to locate when travelling without knowing the actual address? Also while the headlights turn with the steering, do they also self level so that they aim at the road and not the sky when travelling up a hill?
    Nice to see if one were to opt for the 6/7 seater that there is sufficient room for people and not simply children to fit in the 3rd row unlike most vehicles.
    Can enter/exit seat position be set to not lower for we old goats who have difficulty extricating themselves from low seats. One of the most significant aspects for my MKX purchase -- easier to just plop onto the seat and swing legs in and the reverse when departing the vehicle.
    Have to love the self parking particularly for the elderly that can have shoulder issues and not rotate the steering wheel as readily as once upon a time for parking parallel or backup up vertical. Sometimes it is very difficult to park in tighter areas by going front in rather than reverse. Is Lincoln also offering a printed user manual? Beside the park assist, the hidden rear wiper is one of the best items offered and wish that it was offered on the Nautilus as I prefer it's shorter size which fits the garage better. TIA

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for all the great questions! Yes you can use lat/long to search for an address if you don't know the physical address you're traveling to. Adaptive headlamps will bend with the turn.
      Easy entry/exit will automatically lower the seats when the car is turned off or when you go to enter and then you can use a preset to bring it back to your set position! The Aviator does have a Dynamic Handling Package which will actually lower the vehicle when you go to enter and exit to make getting inside easier. The Park Assist is great! In the video I only covered perpendicular but it can also help with parallel park in and out.
      The printed manual is stil there right now but when the vehicle moves to Sync4 it will be a digital manual accessilbe directly through the media screen. There always is the option of viewing the manual online which is acessible through the link below:
      owner.lincoln.com/tools/account/how-tos/owner-manuals.html
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @phlotographer
      @phlotographer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarsWithSteve what I was trying to know was if one could keep the vehicle from lowering when you are ready to enter so I assume that from what you said it is the action on opening the door that will raise the vehicle. As one gets older the knees don`t work so well and thus it is easier to enter and exit from a more upright position compared to the way one would enter a sedan.
      Too bad it was not shown how to enter coordinates as I have not found one on the MKX Limited Edition but maybe I have missed it and mine is also a 2011 so a bit behind the times lol.
      I know about the headlights turning with the wheels but also as important is to have them self level so that the beam when going up hill in the dark does not light the stars but stays lighting the road in front.
      I drove a 1969 Citroen DS 19 Pallas which offered this and had done so since 1955 and so far across to our side of the pond has taken a long time to catch up to the best car ever built.
      Before I ever test drive a vehicle I try to grab the user manual and learn the vehicle as particularly current vehicles are rather full of tech that has to be learned to be comfortable.
      Often one can do a google maps search for a location and get the coordinates but not necessarily the other info and sometime the info is provided by a business etc without a street or number location so it is good to be able to use that info.
      Sometime if you can, grab the Hybrid version and do some tests as to the distance on EV that one can go. Maybe also let folks know in the GTA what charger and pricing of charger and 220 V installation is available. At an old age I have to wonder at the value of changing from an ICE vehicle though.
      Wish that the Nautilus had gone with hidden rear wiper like the Aviator. The blue with brown interior of the Aviator is very special but I like the size of the Nautilus too and its shape being more like the MKX.
      Have subscribed as it is nice to see reviewers from the GTA posting to YT. TIA

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phlotographer The Dynamic Handling Package is optional so if you don't get it there would be no lowering. If you do get it, there's a setting in the Sync3 Media Screen that will allow you to disable the vehicle lowering. Entering the coordinates would simply be entering the digits for lat/long - no different than adding in an address!
      If you tend to grab a manual before test driving - definitely use that link I sent in the last message. You'll have digital access to it and can read at your convenience. Most OEMs are getting away from printed brochures but you can always find information online or ask a local dealer to mail you a printed copy of the brochure.
      Hopefully in a Hybrid in the next week or two but from feedback I've heard from existing Aviator Hybrid drivers they are typically getting 30 - 40km on electric only - which will vary depending on your own driving habits. Appreciate the subscribe and support!

    • @phlotographer
      @phlotographer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarsWithSteve Yes, Steve, that is a big concern as the expense of getting the 220v hookup to the garage and the appropriate charger may easily outweigh any savings for so little range. Now one could simply use regular household but the charge time goes to many a day but might be ok if one sets up the usage much like I do now with monthly trips Costco and local mall for shopping and banking. However, there still is the extra charge involved in the purchase of the vehicle and the fact that there is no rebates available in Ontario.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phlotographer The Ford Home Charging Station is $800 US / approx $1,200 CAD - plus the cost of install. That cost would vary depending on the electrician that you have installing it! The 240V charge station cuts charge time from the traditional 240V plug that comes with it by about 35%
      Wish that Doug Ford would bring back some EV incentives - even on the federal level you can't get the $5,000 EV rebate unless the purchase price is under $50k
      .. However if you own a business you have the ability to write off the entire capital cost of the vehicle in the first year of ownership

      As for the backseat display, the first thing to try is:
      1. Press the "Rear" button in the center stack. You'll find it in between the driver passenger ventilate seat buttons just under "Menu"

      @@CarsWithSteve I had a system in my RV hauler, 2009 Volvo 730, a few years ago. Anytime you got close to the white line on either side it would go off chirping. That was for average lane widths. Going down I 75 during the construction period when the lanes were so narrow, I'd cringe when passing an oncoming HDT for fear the mirrors would crash. In those cases if there were white lines on either side, the device was constantly screaming. If there were no white lines, it would be silent.
      I had the system removed.
      Things have evolved but still not able to detect the edge of the road with no white line.
      Yes, I would like an Aviator but it or they are out of my reach. The hauler carries a Smart car transversely for transportation when at the destination. The Smart was not meant as a daily driver.
      My 2003 Merc Mountaineer was a good vehicle, V8 etc, that is until a young woman blew thru an intersection and T boned me.

      It's interesting.. I don't know of any manufacturers where their lane keeping system will work if there are lanes that aren't recognized. The systems still have a bit more to go before true autopilot will work across every type of road.
