Stumbled onto the channel. Really great presentation. Would add game images, photos, etc, during the explanation but overall awesome job!
My top 5 (in random order)
Castles of Burgundy
TI 4
Brass Birmingham
Hegemony
Ark Nova
Thanks for watching! I agree, a goal of mine is to get better at capturing images and B-roll for these types of videos. I appreciate the feedback! 🙂
I just played Hegemony recently and thought it was brilliant!
Would be nice to see some imagery of the games during the long talks, a bit mundane otherwise.
Thanks for the feedback!
i agree ion this one :)
I’ve played all but 2 games on this list and listening to you describe them had me thinking to myself “oh man, I really wanna play that again”. Great list and thanks for making it.
Thank you for the kind words, and thanks for watching!
You have a good talent for describing games well and clearly, keep it up!
Thank you!
Seems like our taste matches quite a bit (when seen over the entire list) ^^.
Great job! Thoroughly enjoyed it 👍🏻👍🏻.
Cheers 🍻 (and subscribed 😎)
Thank you so much for watching and subbing!
I have a tendency to find the top 10 lists of channels and watch those only. But that’s just me. Great video!
I think a lot of folks tend to do that, which makes sense. Thanks for watching!
Great list
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your list
Thanks for watching!
It's great to see so many differing opinions on top board games! No overlap with our top 10, which shows just how diverse the hobby can be. And bravo on the correct pronunciation of Birmingham!
Thanks! And thanks for watching! Yes, so many great games out there to choose from!
Glad we found your channel! Keep the great content coming
These are some awesome final picks!! Although, knowing you, a lot of these were expected haha. Love seeing Yokohama up here too! - G
Haha! Yeah, not a lot of surprises this year. 😆
thanks for sharing.... great info.... well done..
Thanks for watching!
Agricola, Loyang, Glass Road and Ora et Labora are BY FAR my fav Uwe's games ;).
I haven’t tried Ora et Labora yet, but I definitely want to check it out!
Love to see some love for Glen More. Such an underated gem.
your doing great...keep up the good work✌️❤
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
New to the channel! Great video and top 10. I haven’t played many of these games but dungeon petz and TI3 are in my top 5!
Both excellent games! Do you have a favorite TI faction to play?
@@BeerCityBoardGames I haven’t played very many games especially recently but I really enjoyed the Sardak N’Orr cuz of how simple but fun getting +1 to combat is. I think I focused on getting as many fighters as possible in one battle and buffing them with tech so I was hitting on 6s with a pile. It don’t think it worked out as well as I planned but it was fun lol
@tommyglisten6501 Those simpler factions are pretty nice because they let you just focus on the fun of the game.
When I turned this video on, I told myself let's hear what needs to be said and then a subcription may be earned.... but then your logo hit the video and I instantly subscribed. Your logo is SICK! Now to enjoy the vid, one step closer to a friend lol
Wow! Thank you! 🍻🤘
@@BeerCityBoardGames Finished up the vid and well worth the watch! Very different list from other content creators (I should have prepared myself with the videos leading up to this). But refreshing in the community! I look forward to your future content and catching up on what I've missed. Cheers!
Some good ones
Thank you! 🧡😁
A good list with lots of games i want to try. I own Kemet B & S but have never played it. One suggestion, please add more pictures of the games while you're describing them.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I definitely recommend checking out Kemet, it’s my favorite troops on a map game by a pretty large margin.
Thank you for your insight, the rationale and summaries were quite helpful! The top 5 are especially interesting.
Question just for the record - have you mentioned Onitama or Cosmic Encounter on one of these top 100 videos? :D
Thank you for the kind words! I’ve played both Onitama and Cosmic Encounter. Onitama is just outside of my top 100 but I’m not sure where Cosmic Encounter would land. I really like them both, they just don’t crack the top 100.
@@BeerCityBoardGames Thanks for replying! Those are the only two games I own thus far and I got them since they seemed to be well regarded as safe bets for entry-level board gaming. I like them so far! Kinda crazy that you have 100+ games that you like more than both. Out of curiosity, what about Root and Catan? Those would be my next pickups.
@drago939393 Those are two very different games! If you’re looking for something easy to learn and easy to teach Catan is a great game. Root is an amazing game, and if you’re experienced with board games I’d give it a try. It’s a tough one to teach because of the asymmetry, but worth the effort if you want something with some teeth. 😁
Really interesting top 10, it seems we have similar tastes, since I also like most of these games. But I have yet to try La Granja, maybe I'll have the oportunity sometimes soon. I think I saw it on BGA, so that would be a good place to start playing it.
Yes, I’ve played La Granja on BGA quite often!
Really need to try La Granja sometime! Love Clans and Glen More though!
We can make that happen!
I'm happy with the Top 100 games - as it gives me more games to check out. I'm looking forward to your review of the Distilled expansion, as Distilled was in my Top 3 of 2023, and I've had a good time teaching and playing it with some friends last year over a beer/spirit or 2. Really happy to see 2 Scottish games in your Top 10 list as I grew up in Scotland. A friend taught me Glenmore 2 chronicles a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it, and Clans of Caledonia has been on my list of games to play/buy for awhile now but it hasn't been in stock at my FLGS's - so I'm on the waiting list - however I'm heading back to Scotland in February, so I might try to pick it up in some games shops in Edinburgh😃
That’s amazing! Scotland is on my list of places I’d love to visit!
@@BeerCityBoardGames I’m lucky that my parents still live there so I get to go back for visits every 1 or 2 years. I reckon you’d enjoy the whisky distilleries 🥃
@@StuartBettiss Some friends of mine visited a few years back and said it’s beautiful there. And yeah…definitely have to check out some distilleries while there!
I played kemet when it originally came out and loved it, but never got it. I know my new group would love it. Do you think I should try to find a kickstarter version, or just track down an earlier copy instead?
Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with any Kemet. The production on Blood & Sand is beautiful, but I don’t think the gameplay is so significantly different that it’s worth tracking down. I’d say pick up whichever you can find and fits your budget!
great list, ive only played one on this list tho and it was a great game CoC! Glen More is hard to find now :( .. when i was new to the hobby im really interested to play Dungeon petz but dissapeared on my radar after i got more games :)
A little story about Glen More (the original). I learned about the game after it was waaay out of print here in the U.S., so my awesome wife surprised me by tracking down a copy from Germany for me. 😁
I have been super interested in Dungeon Petz for awhile because of the theme, but the weight has me a little hesitant.
FYI....I did see yesterday that there is a TI4 event at NerdFest this year!!
La Granja Deluxe is one of the few times I regret not backing.
Last, but not least...I bought Brass Birmingham this past year, but it is still on my shelf of opportunity 😳
We just added a TI4 day to our calendar for our game group and I'm very excited! I'd be happy to teach you Dungeon Petz or Brass: Birmingham at our next convention!
I haven't seen such a good ranking yet. I'm tired of hearing about how cool animal games are. They're not... Your choices are logical, cool, and really well explained. You have a new sub.
Played the top 3 but haven’t played any of the others. I’ll add them to the queue!
We can make it happen!
You are a GAMER'S GAMER. So many euros. Glass Road definitely has me intriguied.
I like a little of everything, but those Euros tend to rise to the top! 😆
It's been awesome to follow along! this takes a lot of work, great job. My list is going to look a bit different haha you'll see if I ever make the time@@BeerCityBoardGames
Can’t wait! 😁
Yeah boy. Glass road is great. and it has an EXCELLENT solo mode.
I haven’t tried it solo yet, but I’ll have to check it out!
10 games I've never played! Really want to check out Clans of Caledonia
it's near impossible to find
That’s true, but I’m wondering if they’ll do a reprint with the expansion when that comes out.
@@BeerCityBoardGames I am hoping so! I've been wanting to pick it up for quite some time now! Great list & video
@Ivytea Thank you!
Only beaten by the best game in the world! Wow! Thanks for the great list!
Thanks for watching! And believe me, it was soooo close!
I own around 500 games/expansions ...crazy thing is i have only played CoB in your top 10! Many of them yhem i have wanted to play, just do not own them/have local friends who own them.
If you like CoB then out of the other 9 I’d recommend La Granja! I feel like it’s the closest in complexity and overall feel.
Greetings, Clay
There have been quite a lot of reviews, remind me, is the Nemesis game in your top 100?
I haven’t had an opportunity to play Nemesis yet, but it is one I’d like to try. 😁
Clay, believe me, you won't regret it
La Granja was SO WIERD I wanted to love it but it fell flat. I think I need another go at it. Very clever card mechanism.
Love the multi-use cards in La Granja!
Oh no! Sadness cubes!
Some surprises, some non-surprises, and i've played 3 on this list!
I say stick with the top 100 as long as that's what you want to do!
I think doing 100 games you’ll see a lot more new games in the low to mid-range numbers. 🙂
@@BeerCityBoardGames agreed!
Nice top ten. 5:23 I don't watch people's top 100s anymore. Just top tens. So there is my opinion. However .. in addition to a top ten (or whatever top x you land on) I think a "my top 50 that aren't in the top 100 on BGG". Or something like that, play with the numbers, could be cool. Just kind of boring to see everyone's top 100 in which there is so much overlap.
That’s a good suggestion! Thanks for the feedback!
Don't see la granja on many lists. I like it but it's a bit of a mess of a game.
Definitely a lot of things going on in that one!
