@@morbidsearch As is rape apologia. Imagine hiding that for six years.
@@murderalphabetinc.5162 Not sure what you guys are talking about specifically but since I don't encounter actual rape apologists either online or in real life and yet I do encounter the term "rape apologist" fairly often from feminists hurled at various seemingly random people, I surmise that "rape apologist" means anyone who ever disagrees with a feminist about anything ever. Particularly when feminists say crazy irrational things like that any sexual experience they have which they later (sometimes decades later) regret is defined as rape.
Leftists generally don't care about words meaning things so they tend to destroy the meaning of any words they use and this is definitely a case of that, so if you mean anything more literal or direct by the term "rape apologist" then that's going to have to come with some further explanation.
*All teary-eyed* “How much is art worth?”
“Around 20$.”
You nailed it
Truly an artistic conclusion
I was driving and nearly crashed because of that bit.
This was the realest thing ever. As a muggle I related perhaps too closely. Art is worth around 20 bucks.
As an artist i completely agree.
To be real for a sec: as someone who goes to art fairs and craft shows yeah there's a markup and sometimes you get those overly soulful starving artist types, but overall all they're folks with a hobby. They wanna make money, but often they'll run sales and package deals and like Internet Historian said at the end about hobbies that's the fun of local art markets. Chatting with artists and getting their business info, striking deals, finding unique gifts, the story and memories of it all; it ends up worth more than just $20 bucks.
Glad Tommy Tallarico was able to edit and write the entire video! I think he deserves another Guinness World Record for this!

Another way to up your wine snobbery credits is this fact: The waiter does not let you taste the wine to see if you like it, he lets you taste it to test if it is corked or not. So all your "oooohs, aahhhs and red-fruit caramel hay" don't really matter. It is definitely frowned upon (in al the really snobby places) to have them open a bottle and then you going "no sir, I don't like it."
In addition to this you can safely assume the restaurant staff know nothing about wine service when they bring out a screwcap bottle and offer a tasting.
If that's the case, then what exactly should I say after I tasted it?
@@enjoyerofcontent even if it's screw capped, if i don't like it i'll just say it's corked. the waiter is dumb enough to believe me anyway.

I'm from Italy, and I have been a sommelier for 16 years, and this video is pretty damn accurate.
Even in italy, where wine is much more common and almost everyone drinks it, people know very little about it, like the "aged in bottle bias" is still niche knowledge.(The source of the bias is like : in 2016 we had an amazing summer here in xxxxx and the wine from that year tases great, we kept a few bottles and they'll be pricey as fuck ---> people just naturally started assuming that old date on a bottle = good)
And it's a known fact that even someone that drinks wine daily(aka alcoholic) probably couldn't tell apart a 7€ bottle of wine from a 300€ one, And here in italy at 7€ you can already find pretty much top quality stuff, sometimes even at just 3€ if it's sold locally. Most people would disagree, but again. there's wine for even 1€/bottle, and i can say that at least 50% of people probably even couldn't tell apart that one from an expensive one. Or a good Prosecco from expensive champagne, or even from a bad one for that matter, despite the very different taste (I actually prefer Prosecco, if the luxury-biased ignorants can forgive me for it)
Bias and expectations are what rule this game, because yeah, it's all about taste and being accustomed to them.
30-40 years ago people would be literally horrified by someone consuming coke while eating like "they do in USA", someone is still horrified today that it's commontly accepted.
Nice video, and no, I'm not an actual sommelier, but I've seen enough people spewing total bullshit about wine for 5 lifetimes working just a few years in restaurants, and please stop spinning glasses like morons on crack.
My dad got really mad at the wine pairing is bullshit part and went off on a rant on why wine pairing does matter 😅 i don't even drink wine anymore. When I did, it all tastes like shit sour liquid to me, no matter what i drink it with.
It's not TOTAL bullshit but it breaks down pretty quickly once you get past sweet vs dry and red vs white, and even then sweet vs dry is the bigger choice. If you're getting into this specific grape varietal with this specific meat or fish, then you've gotten into the bullshit.
@@enjoyerofcontent if there's a wine that I like, then I tend to think it pairs well with everything.
The only legit pair is a sweet red wine with a well-seasoned steak or beef roast. That shit is so satisfying together, at least to me. The sweeter red wine is just a great alcoholic flavor profile to wash down savory beef with. I like really strong tasting meals though, so I could see why someone wouldn't enjoy it if that's not their thing. Anything else though? Nonsense.
It’s all BS because the only food that pairs well with wine is cheese.
ok your dad is wrong but so are you. you have shit taste buds. stop drinking soda and eating chocolate everyday and youll start tasting the nuance.

I love how when you're really into wine you're high class, and when you're really into vodka you "have a problem"
To be fair, vodka tastes terrible, especially pure vodka.
Also, it kinda has the connotation of being poor and miserable. Whenever you see an old homeless man on the street, it's always with a vodka bottle in hand, never wine.
The logic does check out, since the goal of the old man is to get drunk in the cheapest way possible. Still, the stigma is there, and remains strong.
I'm really into Jagermeister what's that make me?
@@magicalnoodlesThere are smooth vodkas out there, I had a phase where I wanted to try them all and I can say for myself that exemple: Belvedere and Grey Goose go down smoothly compared to Moskovskaya or Smirnoff... Lots of great local producers are good also and they make some crazy naturally aromatized ones like Zubrowka..
Anyhow, I totally get your point but it's the case with all alcohol really lol. Like when a cashier asks me when I buy booze "Is that any good I never tried it" I usually reply as a joke "If I wanted to drink something that tastes good I would have bought juice."".

Truly the most quote of all time
@MaxSpiegelE there are a lot of things you can point to and say are plagiarized from IH I figure, but that lines not one of them
@@badams4982 As I've said elsewhere in some of the comment threads here, unless you're a copyright lawyer, it's pretty hard to say with much certainty whether this could be considered plagiarism (and even then, different judges could rule on this particular example differently). But the odds that searching this quote immediately spat back the article I mentioned, plus the one about coups and the Great Gatsby from the IFWS article, plus all the stuff we HB demonstrated as plagiarised makes it extremely sus, to say the least.
Besides, even if he didn't get the joke's premise from that article (the quote is admittedly not verbatim, though it doesn't have to be to constitute plagiarism) and it is just a coincidence, he has only himself to blame. He started a pattern, so obviously now people are going to be far more likely to attribute much of his writing to plagiarism. You can get the skunk out of the jury box, but not the stench.
