  • As the EPIC crew continues to build out our 2021 Jeep Gladiator Mojave, we acquire a DiamondBack Tonneau Cover. Built to take weight on top and with 2 hinged hatch openings, this item fits in well with our low, fast adventure Gladiator plans. Stay tuned for more on this EPIC Mojave build.

    Thanks for the video. I just received a Diamondback HD and am excited to install on my Gladiator. I am looking for guidance on how to remove the bed cap clips and am searching the web and TH-cam but coming up empty. Any advice on how you were able to remove the clips without breaking them?

    I came back and watched the video again, I kind of missed something the first time about the shims. Someone told me you have to take the tail lights out to take the bedcaps off, I said “naaa……wait….lets see what Epic Adventures did”. I’m glad I came back. Because I don’t wanna break any of the clips either, thanks for an excellent install video!
    If I break any clips, where do I get more?
    Thanks

    Why did the tail lights have to come off? I don't have bed rails. Do I need to get the Mopar bedrails first, or are they available as part of a kit.

    • @TheEPICBeardedGinger
      @TheEPICBeardedGinger 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Removing the tail lights gave us access to start removing the bed rail caps, and I think you can order the cover to work without the mopar rails

    did you have to take the bed rail caps off per the instructions by diamondback? My instructions don't mention that. It just says for the Tundra.

      My instructions for the Gladiator specifically said to carefully remove them or rip them off and buy new ones.

    So I’m confused as to why you say you had to remove the taillights? I get possibly removing the rail caps for the shim installs but don’t get the need for taillight removal all for a cover. Enlighten me please as I am looking to get one of these

      With the tail lights out you can access a couple of the clips for removal without destroying them

    On my Mojave I got the Diamondback HD in the diamond plate style thinking it would have more grip for hauling up top.Easy install. Doesn't leak a drop and it makes a military look. Well worth the price.

      Yes you should. When you clamp it down, the shims make sure you don't destroy the bed rail plastic.

    Love what you’re doing! I’m wanting to overland mine. Looking at an ARE camper top and RTT combo, what do you think? Also, I have a 12’ tandem axle enclosed tool trailer I use for my business that I tow about once a week. Any suggestions to improve towing? Wish y’all were in the USA I like your perspective on what to do with the Mojave!

    • @TheEPICBeardedGinger
      @TheEPICBeardedGinger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would pick the RSI Smartcap over the ARE canopy 100% much better suited to off road and keeping out dust, and for towing, people like in coil airbags from Airlift.

    • @cglehmanone
      @cglehmanone 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In coil air bags won’t mess up my Mojave’s sweet suspension performance when I’m not towing will it? I’m a newb sorry.

      They may change the ride a bit but unfortunately when wanting to part time carry a load or tow there has to be some sacrifices

    I have a JTR the Mopar 2" kit and upgrades with 35s. I have a Smart cap and added the upgraded rear sway bar. I drive almost exclusively mountain roads....Any other ideas to reduce the body roll? Perhaps adding a stiffer shock such as Falcon? Any thoughts would be appreciated....

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well... you have the Mopar lift. So you'll need new shocks, new coils and some front drop brackets to add some extra caster just to start. Give us a call if you have any questions, we'd be happy to steer you in the right direction.

      @@EPIC-4WD Thanks for your video of the Diamondback HD! I am just about sold on this cover as being one
      of the most secure. I do see a potential flaw that looks like it could easily be explioted. It looks as if all someone would need to do is remove 4 hinge screws and a cover could be removed with a slight twist from the hinge side. It would be cool if someone could verify this as it looks like this would be pretty easy to do. The alternative cover I am looking at is the Renegade cover which is similar but does not have hinge screws that can be removed. What is your opinion on this? Thx.
