Fixed my husquverna!!!!! Tried every other video you’re the best dude!!!!! Thanks. Mine was bogging down it will start but I have to leave it on choke now motor is super strong!!!! Thanks again!!!
Mine ran good for about a total of 6 hours. My fix to the bogging down, stalling problem was to tomahawk chop it to the ground, engine first then run it over with the tractor. It still doesn't run, but I dealt with the problem once and for all. Next time I'll buy stihl
Doesn’t matter what brand you buy if you leave gas in it with ethanol or not take care of it or maintain it. Also, you get what you pay for. Don’t expect that a box store trimmer will last forever. It’s worth it nowadays to step to a “pro” model.
Liked and subscribed, my man! Thanks for putting this out. I have a Husqvarna 128 LD trimmer and seems the issue was the fuel lines were disintegrated. I dumped the fuel into a container and saw a bunch of little pieces from the line in there and in the empty tank. I ordered a kit that I luckily found on Amazon and I got it today. It works good as new. I cleaned my old carburator and saved the new one. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. My dealer told me to use some K&N air filter cleaner to clean that filter up, it works great. I keep two of those filters on hand when one needs cleaning I always have another.
Man mine is still bogging down and I completely cleaned the carburetor exactly what you did but did not put in new fuel lines could that be the problem?
I have a 326-L, bought it in 2003, it worked great for years, finally the fuel line wore through, replaced that and it's run great for another three years now it needs a carb kit. The diaphragms are stiff and the fuel lines are suspect. Also remember to check the fuel filter inside the tank. Good tip on tapering the gas line to feed it through the hole. I'll try that next time.
Thank you so much for sharing your information. It gave me the confidence to rebuild my weed wacker. Runs like new again and was a lot easier than anticipated
Very helpful. Don't forget to clean exhaust screen. That ended up being why mine would bog down and run rough, but the things you did were important and helpful. I also dumped the old fuel and ran straight gas through it for a moment, then added a fuel stabilizer with the fresh mixed fuel to keep Ethanol build up from occurring. Nice dog.
i have a 128ld trimmer, mine will start and run as long as it about half choked, i thought it was carb. so bought new one installed it but trimmers still want run when choke is open , has to be about half choked. i have put on new fuel lines ,filther and new sparkplug, new air filter. im at whis end what do you think i need to try next.
I had the same problem. First empty the old fuel and buy some Huqvarna 2 cycle, the green 2 cycle fuel at the Home Depot or Lowe’s. Try that if you’re running well, then awesome! Mine was still running a little off, so I bought some hi and low needle carb adjustment screw drivers ( the screw heads are shaped so a normal driver won’t work) off Amazon and adjusted them. I started from factory settings, which is about 1.25 turns out from closed and went from there. Start the motor up and lean the further screw from the motor first. Keep tightening the Hi screw by half turns until the motor is running very fast at full throttle until it starts to run rough, then back down the screw by a half turn or so. Then adjust the low idle screw by tightening it down quarter turns at a time without squeezing the throttle. You will hear the throttle going up as yo do this. Back it down once you get a good resting idle where it won’t stall after you give it full throttle a few times. Third, there is an idle screw that is below the start sticker instructions and above the two hi low adjustment screws. Turn(tighten) that with a Phillip screw driver until your weedwacker head starts spinning on it own, then back it off until is stops. That’s it! I hope you have success. If not change the fuel lines and clean the carb like the guy did in this video.
Thank you so much did exactly what you showed and to my surprise my fuel filter in tank was also unhooked . I bought new lines just finished hooking it all back up getting ready to try hopefully it works . The hardest part for me was getting the new lines back through the gas tank
Thanks. Very interesting. For those of you using ethanol contaminated fuel...don't. I, on the advice of my dealer, have never used e-fuel in any of my equipment. And just like when I was growing up...before ethanol was added to gas...have never had any gas related issues. I mix the fuel as suggested...run them all summer, put them up for the winter, and pull them out and start them as if they were put up last week. We're lucky here, we have gas stations that sell nonethanol fuel...if you don't...well that leaves you dealing with the expensive quart cans from the big box stores or using e-gas. I'm going on 5 years with non e-gas...and no issues. Just saying. Again, thanks for the video...I sure appreciate guys like you taking the time to demo your repairs.
poor a gallon into a container with a bottom valve, add water then use the valve to remove the water. I'm not 100% sure this removes all of the ethanol.
Got mine out of the box today (brand new) and it ran good for a couple of minutes and then started doing this exact same thing, bogging down at high speed. Now I'm searching for solutions on TH-cam on how to fix it.
I have a Husqvarna 128LD weed eater. About 12 year old. All the lines are falling apart. I just installed a aftermarket carburetor kit with new lines. I finally go the weed eater to start, but it seems to stall when I tilt it. No 100% sure if I need more fuel or my line is too short. However, I came across your video and noticed you have those smaller diameter looking coupler. I had one at the end of my fuel return line. I didn't bother replacing that small nozzle adapter. Could this be causing my Husky weed eater to stall when I tilt it?
That 'sand' you found was not sand. It was part of the fuel line that was attached to the fuel filter, which had a line connector in line with the fuel line heading to the carburetor. That line disintegrated, leaving that sand looking stuff in your tank, which gets sucked up into the carb, since the fuel filter is no longer attached. Priming the carb before starting was also sucking this stuff up, and leaving chunks of plastic in the carb filter. My 128cd weed trimmer just dies on me today, and this is exactly what I found inside. After disassembly of the tank I discovered things missing, and about a tablespoon of yellow crystals in the tank. Also found a couple of line connectors in the tank, and could shatter them with my fingers.
Nice vid! So I do this every season as I use my 128ld heavily. This yea I had discovered an issue with the trigger in the handle assembly... The post that holds it all together had broken inside handle... This would be something I would check also if having these issues..
For my husqvarna string trimmer 128ld - tried new carb, air filter, fuel filter, checked spark arrester - fixed it with the spark plug recommended in the manual - Champion RCJ6Y
the spark plug did not fix the problem completely. It was still hard to start and it stalled. What seems to have fixed it was to turn the all three screws on carb - idle, high-rpm, low-rpm - clockwise until seated. Then turn 1 1/2 turns counterclockwise. I also needed a splined adjustment screw tool from walmart (probably also made in China).
Ran good for 6 years then started crapping out. The "splices" in the tank are installed in the factory to keep fuel lines from pulling out of tank. I overhauled mine 3x as described and it still would not run right. Bought new carb, still would not run right, so I set it on fire and threw it in a mine hole. Should have bought a Stihl.
I have a next to new 129L that I bought last summer and only used probably 4 times and it started doing this shit. I have a Husky backpack blower that runs flawlessly so I figured I’ll try their trimmer. Seriously disappointed with Husky now.
I have two of these. Both melt holes in the air filters. No wonder they mess up the cylinders so fast sucking dirt in to the engine. Wonder if it is designed to do that. I contacted the company. No help. Trying to figure out a fixes.
Picked one of these up off the side of the road yesterday. Bought a new spark plug today and it fired right up but doesn't run when the choke is all the way off. I'm betting if I do the same thing you just did it'll run just fine. Thanks
Great video.. It would have been even better if you would have shown the right mixture with the correct ratio of fuel and oil and a close up on how you adjusted the idle screw..
My husqvarna works wide open and at idle but dies at any other throttle. Any ideas? It’s a husqvarna 224L. New carb and new fuel lines. New air filter new fuel filter
Thanks for the video! I was watching some others and one guy used the fuel line connector on the inside of the tank going out to the filter. I noticed you used two connectors on both the delivery and return but on the outside of the tank. Any special reason for that ?
They were already there. The connections have a smaller diameter than the fuel line so they would affect suction on the feed line and pressure on the return line. It may be negligible but I figured I may as well use them both since mine appeared to come from the factory that way.
🤔 I think it can only suck air in..... when you prime it and then take cap off you can hear air escape like there’s a small pressure build up. But as the fuel drains it would need to suck air in to maintain equilibrium and prevent the gas tank from concaving
@@CreativeMechanic thanks i just ran into that lil problem like it was not letting enough in blowed out with air hose and baskeball needle ima replace everything it was like 15 bucks on Amazon and if it seems to still be a problem ill replace cap...thanks for info.
Mine used to only run on half choke now it only runs on full choke and not very well. The throttle is unresponsive. I wonder if my husky might have this same problem.
Thank you for the video! I followed the instructions, cleaned the filter, put 100:1 mix and it works! (Amsoil 2 cycle engine is 100:1) the video can do without the music, please.
Good information!I have one that isn’t starting and it appears that Isn’t getting any fuel. When I try to prime it, I don’t see any fuel in the primer.
Thank. You !I can't use no throttle ever ! Air filter, plug all is good I was t old ! I can't start weedeater but will NOT stay running. Any ideas for me to get fixed. Hmm not sure if I can achieve this lololol.
I have a husqvarna 223l that i bought brand new 2 or 3 years ago it runs rough for a couple minutes then it start running fine its done this ever since i got it could what you did be the issue?
I stand corrected. I saw another video on husqvarna weedeater and I did see they connected the fuel filter to the main hose with the connectors. Never saw it done that way before. My apologies.
My husqvarna 128r won't start. I've cleaned the carb like you've done. I've sprayed wd40 where the spark plug is. The problem to why didn't start was I run it on petrol. Any other advise?
Did everything in the video. It ran for about 30 min (still won't run with choke off). Now it won't start again. Do I have to get a special screwdriver to adjust the idling screws or something? Im about ready to trash it and sharpen the scythe.
This looks like the 128 Ld, I have one as well. Thanks for the upload! This is very useful. I wonder if you would like to comment on why the engine would sound fine but the head wouldn't turn and it sounds like there is something loose in the lower shaft. I can work on the engine but when it gets down there I don't have much experience.
@@CreativeMechanic Thanks so much for your reply. Since my post I actually removed the lower and upper shaft, greased them up well and re-assembled. I went to start it and wouldn't ya know it, the engine would only run for a few seconds haha. BUT, the head did turn in that time with the RPM's expected. Looks like I'll be cleaning a carb and filter. One more thing though, even after everything was tightened back up, the gray plastic area above the throttle trigger and safety switch seemed to move away from the rest of the engine and orange housing. Does that sound like it could result from a broken shaft? I couldn't see anything broken but you know how that goes. Sorry for the novel, +SUB
I don’t know how my much I saved, but the going rate for me to work on stuff is $50 an hour. For comparison, I’m still $40 cheaper than the local small motor shop.
Creative Mechanic yeh the yard is only 6000 sq ft. I’d only need a trimmer, pole saw and maybe the small electric blower for just dusting the driveway off when I’m done. And possibly the electric stain saw for quick infrequent uses. But The yard will be 7500 sq ft to 10k when I get the back yard finished tho. But I still rely on engines for the mowing portion tho. I’m sure I always will.
Good video EXCEPT I wish I would’ve never pulled my fuel lines outta the tank!!! Mine ended not being clogged and are now damn near impossible to reinstall..now I have to buy new lines, finesse them thru and hope for the best..when mine weren’t even bad
Great video. I have the same issue. My fuel filter fell off the brittle fuel line. Do you have a part number or know the size of the fuel line to replace it with?
I have a question if I may ask .. I have a Husqvarna weed eater it runs but it jumps fire from the plug causing it Mis really bad. I've tried everything that I know of and can't get it to stop. If you can do a video on this or just reply to my comment on what to do to fix it I'd really appreciate it. Thanks have a good one.
If actual fire is shooting out near your spark plug your cylinder is likely cracked and your engine is toast. But I may not understand what you are asking
Had a buddy call me up and asked if I could look at his weedeater. I thought sure no big deal an so I asked "what's wrong with it, did you try an fix it already?" He said "idk, man. It jus won't start and if it does it dies when I pull the throttle. I put a new fuel line on the tank cuz dad said it needed a new one" when he brought it over the first thing I looked at was the fuel line. It wasn't down in the tank and when he couldn't get the line to go into the tank he got a drill bit found the one that fit an got the next one up an drilled a new hole. Ended up having to pop in a bigger line and adjusting the carb to take the extra fuel. The S.O.B screams now but it'll run till the fuels gone lol
Then explain ; Installed brand new carb, filter , plug , fuel lines . Adjusted idler as its suppose to be . It'll sit there all day at idle but won't run but a couple of surge triggers then die ... Set the lower & upper trims .. Model 128 LD Purchased in 2007 ...
When I re-installed the spring and lever for the need and tighten the screw the spring gets stuck in the down position. I have tried re-installing and triple checked it was going in the right way, but the problem persists
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
@@mikeprice8307 I'm having a very similar problem. Replaced carb, air & fuel filters, and fuel lines... Starts, runs, but immediately begins to lose power once I hit the throttle. I've adjusted both the old and new carb, with no luck. I have to continually punch the throttle for it to last longer than 5 minutes.
I was wondering if it he first check should have been fuel fi!get and like es, then miraculously you showed them. Good video but your sequencing seemed off.
Bought a brand new Husqvarna 324L and day one it will not stay running . You would think that spending almost 400 bucks on a fricken tool would guarantee it works.
Brand new 122LK with proper fuel won't stay running after break in. Adjusted carb, still has a governor block. Tried 50:1, 40:1, fine tuning, etc. Removed spark arrestor, got too hot even with carb adjustment. Never had issues with STIHL. Going back to a quality product. Should of known better, my best money makers for small engine repair are Husqvarna, Cub Cadet, and Poulan products. Wonder why STIHL and Honda aren't on my repair inventory 🤔 buy right the first time folks.

Fuel line connectors are designed to be inside the tank, their only purpose is to keep the lines from coming out.

It helps to blow out the carb ports with some compressed air and more brake cleaner after poking the debris loose.
To get the fuel lines thru the tank, after cutting tubing at an angle, add oil to it, and as you push grab it from inside tank with forceps, and pull

Do I have to get a special screwdriver to adjust the idling screws or something? Im about ready to trash it and sharpen the scythe.
Great instructional. Thank you!
The shaft that runs through the handle is likely broken
I LOVE watching people frustratingly fight with shit lawn gear. You saved a ton of money though....... LOL
I’m getting fed up w temperamental gas lawn equipment also. Really close to going electric for small stuff.
I don’t know how my much I saved, but the going rate for me to work on stuff is $50 an hour. For comparison, I’m still $40 cheaper than the local small motor shop.
That decision is directly related to the size of your yard.
My air filter had a hole that was the exact size, location and shape as in the video. I wonder what causes that.
Backfiring through the intake
Good video EXCEPT I wish I would’ve never pulled my fuel lines outta the tank!!! Mine ended not being clogged and are now damn near impossible to reinstall..now I have to buy new lines, finesse them thru and hope for the best..when mine weren’t even bad
Great video. I have the same issue. My fuel filter fell off the brittle fuel line. Do you have a part number or know the size of the fuel line to replace it with?
Take the line off and bring it to an auto parts store. They usually sell fuel line by the foot
Just ask for fuel line kit for string trimmer. Its all the same size.
That's what I did, I got the kit. All fixed! :-)

@@CreativeMechanic no not actual fire .. lol . Win it is running the spark jumps from the plug to the motor causing it to miss really bad
Oh, Change your plug and make sure the gap is set correctly
Good instructions on the carb cleaning. poor instructions on the fuel line.
Very informative, thanks.
Then explain ;
Installed brand new carb, filter , plug , fuel lines .
Adjusted idler as its suppose to be .
It'll sit there all day at idle but won't run but a couple of surge triggers then die ...
Set the lower & upper trims ..
Model 128 LD
Purchased in 2007 ...
Leaky piston rings
@@CreativeMechanic
Perhaps but doesn't smoke abnormally .
Not necessarily you may just have poor compression
@@CreativeMechanic I've noticed most all the " How To's " on this subject has been the 128 LD model.
Mine has acted up since purchased new at Lowes .
I bought a new one last season. It has ran like that since day one
I permanently fixed my Husqvarna trimmer. I bought a true Commercial grade Maruyama.
carb gasket was my bogging issue.
When I re-installed the spring and lever for the need and tighten the screw the spring gets stuck in the down position. I have tried re-installing and triple checked it was going in the right way, but the problem persists
Jim Mercer may be corroded you can get a new carb for 12 might be easier or you can try to get rid of corrosion etc
thats how it down had to do that to my tanaka and she run fine now
I had a model older than this one that I love.
I have same model. New lines, fresh gas, clean spark arrester, new plug and carb. Runs but stalls with throttle. I don't understand.
You may need to adjust the fuel set screw on the carb, it may bento rich
yes I've done that already. Still dies on throttle.
Is the choke sticking closed?
the choke is perfectly fine as its a brand new carburetor just received today.
Steps to fix 128ld.
1. Throw 128ld in trash
2. Go buy echo 22cc pas kit
Bought a brand new Husqvarna 324L and day one it will not stay running . You would think that spending almost 400 bucks on a fricken tool would guarantee it works.
Mine was bogging down after about 30 seconds of running and then cut off. Found out the fuel filter had come off inside the gas tank.
That fixed it! Thanks!
Which model is this? The 128LD?
Not sure. Customer has already gotten it back
great job
I'll NEVER buy another Husqvarna anything ... ever.
Good info , thanks for posting
Brand new 122LK with proper fuel won't stay running after break in. Adjusted carb, still has a governor block. Tried 50:1, 40:1, fine tuning, etc.
Removed spark arrestor, got too hot even with carb adjustment. Never had issues with STIHL. Going back to a quality product.
Should of known better, my best money makers for small engine repair are Husqvarna, Cub Cadet, and Poulan products.
Wonder why STIHL and Honda aren't on my repair inventory 🤔 buy right the first time folks.
Don’t tell them that, then they won’t watch my videos so I can make $$$ 😂
You need to used the straw on the end of the carb cleaner to spray in carb can’t spray for the can to get inside carb
I have the same problem
I have the same fucking problem, sometimes it runs great other times I can’t get it started and it’s almost brand new...
What causes the hole in the air filter?
Probably backfiring through the intake
8mm nuts! just saying lol
Mine burns oil like nuts and conks out...gonna run it over with my truck.
But... it’s supposed to burn oil...
@@CreativeMechanic No it's not it's a
324x four stroke
Oh. Probably piston rings
@@CreativeMechanic haha yeah....still wanna run over it.😤
Good luck!!
