  • Welcome to Star Trek! Don't know a Klingon from a Cardassian, or Captain Kirk from Captain Picard? Don't understand what its all about and why people love it?
    Watch this video and find out everything you need to know about the franchise, but were too afraid to ask!
    Star Trek is an American media franchise based on the science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The first television series, called Star Trek and now known as "The Original Series", debuted on September 8, 1966 and aired for three seasons on NBC. It followed the voyages of the starship USS Enterprise on its five-year mission, the purpose of which was "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before". The USS Enterprise was a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets in the 23rd century. The Star Trek canon includes the Original Series, an animated series, six spin-off television series, the film franchise, and further adaptations in several media.

    I haven’t really watched Star Trek apart from a few older movies. This was fantastic and really helped a non-fan like me appreciate and respect the franchise even more than I already did. Fantastic job!

    Nitpick: "The Cage" was in 1964, "Where No Man Has Gone Before" was in 1965.

    No mention of Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) for TNG?
    Granted, she quit during season 1, but she deserves a mention as well instead of being forgotten.

      You're right, that was an oversight. I met Denise Crosby at HAL-CON back in 2010, she was delightful and had great stories.

    What does syndication mean? TOS was translated to other languages and played in other countries?

    • @Protokino
      @Protokino  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Broadcast syndication is the practice of content owners leasing the right to broadcast television shows to multiple television stations without having an official broadcast network to air on. It is common in the United States where broadcast programming is scheduled by television networks with local independent affiliates.

      @@Protokino so what is it in today's context? Considering Star trek discovery and Picard, etc. I assume they have official networks. But they ending up on OTT platforms - is it the same idea?

      It's never too late! "Data's Day" or "Where No One Has Gone Before" is a good intro to Star Trek: The Next Generation.

      @@Protokino I had an uncle that was super into Star Trek & Doctor Who and I remember walking in and seeing it on TV and thinking what is this lol. Those shows must be pretty cool because I know they have quite a cult following. I was always more of a Star Wars guy myself.

    Yeah, find some green space hotties, know that you will always be able to be activated back into service for the good of the people's property and never let a wahmen run the show. Of course I may be enticed to push for this future because it looked like everyone was very active. Hopefully from burning a lot calories in "re" productive ways since, might as well enjoy now, if tomorrow maybe your last.
