- 31 years have passed since Bhanwari Devi was gang raped for trying to stop the marriage of a 9-month-old girl in Rajasthan's Bhateri village. The sessions court acquitted her five accused in 1995 and since then Bhanwari's appeal has been pending in Rajasthan High Court. ThePrint's Jyoti Yadav traces that 9-month-old girl for the first time and brings this tale of two women-- Bhanwari and Bai.

Please put some subtitles to this video, @ThePrint. We used to hear about this case 20-odd years ago. Then this case disappeared from the media. This new generation must hear about this case.
These type of women are real miss india in fact miss universe. these women are influencer who influences the society , she has courage to fight and she fight from front row , now , we are looking at painted and full of makeup women as influencer. Those who claim to be feminist and female activist, they became cheerleaders of activism. They don't do anything except shouting on news channels and on the road .
She is real activist who fought for her dignity and self respect . She fight for whole women .she is real influencer. She is our hero , ❤ 🙌 💙
Is it so difficult to praise a woman that you people have to compensate for it by trying to pull down other women at the same time ? Do you talk about harassers standing on the roadside, rapists, molesters, boys who are making stupid over-dramatic videos with stupid hairstyles, when you see videos on men who have contributed to society ? No... Can it not be pure appreciation even for these women ??
Women of every class face harrasment, and have their own unique experiences that other women, much less men have the ability to understand... There are different schools of feminism... Some women and girls who for whatever reason don't have sense and are creating nonsense, like some other men and boys, are absolutely irrelevant... But you people give them so much attention, that these good people have to strive for attention...
Excellent Journalism... How come there are Individual TH-camrs like Dhruv Rathee, Mohac Mangal etc... have such great editing and graphics In their videos but the bigger organisations like ThePrint don't.
This story is too important to be lost in translation.

‘Justice delayed is justice denied ‘ will be an understatement for Bhanwari Devi as her perpetrators have passed away except one ,even if she gets justice while she ‘s alive then it won’t be complete justice for her .Thanks to our great Indian justice system that many victims like Bhanwari Devi still awaits justice for decades or they simply die since it takes so long and this is the reason for the unreported crimes against women since they don’t trust the legal system and moreover they are either shamed ,harassed or disbelieved by the court of law and the society.

The journalist Ms. Jyoti Yadav has done another great work here again after her previous stories with the print. Much better video editing is required though

The rapist said that no marriage was happening, but then stammered... The girl (Bai Devi) in her interview (available on the website) has said that she was being married, based on what she has grown up listening.. There's no reason why she would have grown up listening to this, had it not been true... So the rapist is clearly lying... While she (Bai Devi, now 32 years old) regrets not studying beyong 5th standard, she envies a relative for becoming a police officer and curses Bhanwari Devi for sending the rapists in her family to jail... She also supports child marriage... One might say that it's because she has grown up like that... But her regret for not being able to study shows that she is aware that education would have been better for her... She's full of contradictions... If she can't thank her, just don't say anything ! The country, and especially the women of this Country owe Bhanvari Devi A LOT..

The matter is in High Court of Rajasthan... The CJI sits in the Supreme Court....

Am a bit confused...why do you say Bai hates her? Did Bai report that? Not talking to a person does not connote that they "hate"them...hate is a very strong and intense emotion. Also as you said you discovered Bai, was expecting a bit about how life turned out for her, what kind of retaliations, if any, did she experience and what's her stand on child marriage and other dominating aspects of patriarchy...
