I guess we can only assume that Palpatine did to Anakin what he did to Ben, manipulating him from the time he was in his mothers womb. Also there are some of Luke’s students left alive in the comics, it could be those three students that the knights kill.

It's too bad that the sequels decided not to make them the other Jedi Padawans that left with Ben Solo. They can even in a limited capacity, use the force. As if they never finished their Jedi training. There is so much wasted material in the Sequels.

The Knights are just a rag-tag group of dark side force users, they weren’t a part of the FO until Kylo took them over and brought them in. The Praetorian guard were specifically trained to fight Jedi and were probably Sith Eternal cultists with way more knowledge and training than the KOR.

If you see a power output or speed number for something in Legends..take that with an entire spoonfull of salt. I have the impression writers just pulled numbers out of their ass without even thinking about the implications. My favorite examples are max atmospheric speeds for starfighters and combat airspeeders listed as lower than fighter jets from the 60s and the AT-AT somehow being able to move at 60kph (presumably by galloping) The most powerful nuke ever detonated had a yield of 50 megatons. For something that could plausibly have a power of 200 gigatons per shot you'd probably have to look at the big gun on the Sith Star Destroyer

I absolutely love the Knights of Ren. They fit really well within the movie, and the sort of twist about their fight was actually pretty poetic. Well done, finally giving us a Boba-like hyped up baddie in a supporting role that really works. They didn't get eaten by a sarlac, beheaded before the war even starts, shot in the squishy parts, chucked in a garbage chute, or slapped into a fire. They actually went down like bosses and proved a serious obstacle in the way of the good guys.

I loved watching the Resistance fight the Final Order. But that action is meant to progess a story. Bobba ultimately died to say that Han's past is over. Phasma died to say that Finn was no a resistance hero, not a ex-stormtrooper anymore. I'm just glad the Knights actually got a good blend of menace, coolness, action, and importance. The Knights of Ren are Ben's past that he must confront. They are essentially his earliest step towards becoming a Dark Side apprentice, and so appropriately, they are his last step to regaining his place as a Jedi. He faces them unarmed, doesn't back down, and in the end, finally claims Luke's Saber and defeats them. The moment the Knights die, we know Kylo is dead and gone.

Boba fett was hyped up for 5 years from the Holiday special to Return of the jedi just to get hit into a pit by a blinf man. The emperors guards were the face of the Return of the jedi toy line and all they did was walk through a door. Jabba is hyped up for the whole OT and is killed 20 minutes into EP6. When Lucas got the toy rights to Star Wars, he intentionally filled episodes 5,6 and the prequels with quirky background characters and cool looking dudes to sell toys and further his own pocket. Disney at least (even though they have very minimal involvement in production and it's mostly the writers and the Lucasfilm story group who have been working with Lucas for decades) who created these concepts and put them in the movies, not for toys, but to allow for future directors to do with them what they want. Whether they followed them or not was up to them. JJ felt obliged to the fans to at least include the KOR as appeasement for their lacking presence, but there is only so much you can put in the movie without it being cluttered. You can't have the main cast all sit down for 5 minutes of exposition for each minute plot element. It's the reason we weren't told explicitly how the Emperor returned, it was filmed but it was too exposition heavy. It instead makes the viewer wonder how on their own, through him quoting himself n Episode 3, and also the Resistance wondering amongst themselves. This trilogy has prioritised story amongst all else

Who are these mysterious Knights that helped Ben betray Luke? How did the Orange gremlin get Anakin/Luke's lightsaber? How come the lightsaber is perfectly fine in IX when it was torn in half and the crystal destroyed in VIII? Among many other questions, details, and plot holes. You know all the "minor" questions from a Trilogy that "has prioritised story amongst all else"
So much interesting lore behind them, and JJ didn’t let them do shit in the movie. And Rian would rather have that stupid Canto Bight subplot for his movie than a side story about the Knights of Ren....sigh

Imagine a final trilogy focused on Luke and actually doing his character justice...THEN a movie about kylo rens fall to the dark side kicking off a new saga and also explaining his background with the knights of ren better than what we got
They were hyped up so much and a huge amount of care was taken in their design and concept and they end up being a mini-boss. Much like most of Disney Star Wars, it was full of potential but never reached it.

Are we all just going to Ignore the fact that they have such Amazing Utility but was treated so hard like Expendable Stormtroopers like wtf they could have at least have given us a good fight scene with all the knights of ren vs something or someone
Four years of waiting for these dudes and we got barely anything from them. You don't just make ominous, terrifying characters that the fans want to learn more about, then make them wait years of time for the characters to officially appear, then just kill them with almost no screen time. The only way to redeem this mistake, is make it to where they survived, and give them they're own show or even spin off movie.
What If The original Ren that we see in the comics is A dark side twisted Ezra ? Perhaps thrawn managed to go to exegol and meet up with palpatine and hand him off to the emperor where I’ll leave it for you guys to figure out the rest

Yeah they needed that time for Luke sucking the green milk out of a space dugong's titty, collecting 4 macguffins, and for the orange gremlin to exposition dump other info.
Why would we need to know things like: How did the Emperor survive falling down the pit and being blown up in an explosion that clearly vaporized the Death Star II? Who are these mysterious Knights that helped Ben betray Luke? How did the Orange gremlin get Anakin/Luke's lightsaber? How come the lightsaber is perfectly fine in IX when it was torn in half and the crystal destroyed in VIII? Among many other questions, details, and plot holes.
You know all the "minor" questions from a Trilogy that "has prioritised story amongst all else"
So much interesting lore behind them, and JJ didn’t let them do shit in the movie. And Rian would rather have that stupid Canto Bight subplot for his movie than a side story about the Knights of Ren....sigh
Now you got me thinking...what if the Knights Of Ren had been hunting Finn and Rose in The Last Jedi? Little things like that to make the movie a little better.

Favorite Knight? Vicrul and Trudgen for me.
They were hyped up so much and a huge amount of care was taken in their design and concept and they end up being a mini-boss. Much like most of Disney Star Wars, it was full of potential but never reached it.

Except there are six of them, so they’re even more useless individually.
Are we all just going to Ignore the fact that they have such Amazing Utility but was treated so hard like Expendable Stormtroopers like wtf they could have at least have given us a good fight scene with all the knights of ren vs something or someone
well rounded, well. They are mostly blades after all.
Four years of waiting for these dudes and we got barely anything from them. You don't just make ominous, terrifying characters that the fans want to learn more about, then make them wait years of time for the characters to officially appear, then just kill them with almost no screen time. The only way to redeem this mistake, is make it to where they survived, and give them they're own show or even spin off movie.
