    If you are ever in Pasadena, make it a point to stop in, this is a living museum, and if the boss man is around, he loves to talk about his passion, cycling! Great video guys! 🇺🇸

    I had my reservations when Jeremy joined GCN, but really now I just think this guy is class. His pick of subject matter is diverse and open. His CX commentary and insight is real gold for us fans and he comes across as a straight up person. Well done GCN and thank you Jeremy from the west of Ireland for your hard work. I love it.

    What a wonderful collection. This gentleman has a piece of the sport's history and those bikes are works of art. I admire his love and passion for the classic era of bikes. He has every right to get emotional. Beautiful.

    GCN tech should start a bike shop series. Jon did a great job at corsa corsa. This was good, but not enough close ups on the displays. Jeremy keep it up. Cant wait to see the next one.

    Excellent video! My son does ju jitsu at the studio next door to the main Velo shop, so I'm outside this place 2-3 times a week and have seen it change a bit over the last seven years. The main shop has always been like Disneyland for cyclists, a wall-to-wall inventory of cycles (currently Giant, BMC, Pinarello, Felt, etc.), clothing, and accessories. Very "pro shop", low to high end. A real drool-fest. Too bad it wasn't shown. The staff--who all seem to double as mechanics--are customer-friendly and there is a solid flow of business.
    A couple of years ago, Velo took over the space featured in this video after the furniture business there failed. It's across the street from the main shop. Presumably, there is no retail advantage to owning/renting that space. The owner simply loves cycling, and he has populated this second location with his vintage items uniquely for the enjoyment of others. For him, that has value. What a vintage idea.
    Hope these character-full brick-and-mortar shops stay solvent. So many are failing or being gobbled up...

    Really fantastic video there Jeremy! Another gem from GCN Tech here. I must admit that I would happily watch a video 3x this length as Hrach talked through all of the frames and bikes which he has in his collection. Stores like this are just so fascinating and its great when you can hear some of the history behind the jerseys and bikes which you see, really brings to life the great heritage of the sport! Thanks very much guys and hope that maybe Jeremy can take us through his collection of bikes and give us a run down of there history and the wins on them also very interested to see what you could do about the Richard Sachs which Jeremy mentioned...another video perhaps! 😏

    This is insanely amazing. Hrach has a veritable road bike museum, an immaculate monument to the sport. That said, I feel somewhat cheated. Firstly, I want to hear Hrach's full story, for him to move beyond the tears (understandable for him to get choked up when looking back on his life) but I also want to slow down the rest. How in the world did he get those bikes and jerseys? I want more detail, I'm sure it all comes with some great stories. This is a rich and remarkable story from a man who has clearly made a success of himself in an area that has a very high failure rate (bike shops). MORE! Give us part 2 Jeremy.

    This is my go to shop for everything Campagnolo. I am one of those few who ride Campy almost exclusively on all my road bikes and he has the best selection of parts and accessories. The museum, you can simply spend hours in. I am thankful my friend Chuck introduced me to Velo Pasadena in the 1990's. I was hoping they would cover the Lemond 1989 Time Trial bike from the Tour de France. History sitting right before you.

    Wow! I also got teary-eyed because I started my career in the bicycle industry in 1967 as a Schwinn factory-trained mechanic just a few miles away from his beautiful shop in Highland Park. Back then there were two major bike shops in that area, Foxies & Knudson's in So Pasadena. I worked for Foxies for 13years before I went inside the bicycle industry working for the Japan Group (ie Shimano, SR, Araya, etc.). I worked for just about every Asian and some Euro companies until I semi-retired in 2003. My last job was working for Specialized in tire development. I also became a Cat-1 pro racer and did most of my training around the Rose Bowl and Griffith Park training rides in the 70s & 80s. I now live in Seattle and I'm going to make it a point to visit Hrach's shop soon. I know of only one other person in the US who also has many rare collections of racer's bikes who started his collection 25 years ago not far from his shop in Glendale California. I'm pretty sure they know each other. Thanks Jeremy, for the trip down memory lane.. Sincerely Dan Sotelo

    • @look17111
      @look17111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this Danny Sotelo I knew from riding way back in the "Park" and the "Bowl"? You has a small shop off Riverside in Burbank selling Shimano stuff, I remember. Hrach use to come out to the Wednesday rides along with a bunch of other hammer heads. You must be talking about Bicycle Mart. Owner's name was Mark, I think? I heard he has a great collection somewhere. Couple years ago, I met a guy from Silver lake that use to work in his shop back in the late 80s when he was a teenager.
