  • In this video I am out exploring new water in Boulder, CO! We stumble upon a beautiful gem known as the Sawhill ponds where there are over 15 different ponds to fish! Overall it was a great time exploring the ponds as we were able to catch several bluegill and just have a good old time. I would highly recommend bringing the kids here as there are lots of bluegill to easily be caught! Nice! I fish there all the time. Pumpkinseed are in a few ponds, but are a bit rare. Fly fishing for bluegill is a great way to learn!

      Wow no way thanks so much for that information man! I was wondering because I checked over 4 of the ponds and didn't see much but the bluegills and small bass but I might have to go hunting for a pumpkinseed!🎣

    Fly fishing is my game bro! I'm mainly trout, but I chase bass, blue gill, carp at the local spots in town. Your videos help me so much with catching bass. I try and imitate my flies to your baits! Nice video bro!! Thanks for the weekly content!!

    Cool place, I’ve never been there, but heard of Sawhill Ponds. Nice clear water! Reminds me of some ponds my dad took me to in the early 80’s behind Front Range Community College. He would pay the dude in an old farm house who owned the land $3 for us to fish it, tons of blue gill. Thanks for sharing!

      Yeah it's a cool little place worth checking out! I saw a few decent bass but honestly not many but dang that sounds so cool fishing on farm property huh? I would be very interested in getting that opportunity haha thanks for watching Ron!

    Brings back good memories of growing up in the late 90s! The last pond by Boulder Creek has some huge large mouth bass in it. I even caught a snapping turtle there once. Good times man.

    Pretty baller for not knowing what you're doing! I picked up a fly rod this season, initially to target blue gill too. Thanks to a few fellow anglers, who saw i had no clue what i was doing, i got some good tips on the technique. Try holding it like a spinning rod (reel down), let the line do the work. I also learned that catching bass on a fly rod is F***ing Awesome! I've had a lot of success with bass on a black wooly booger.

    • @fishingcolorado
      @fishingcolorado  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tips brother I'm seriously gonna try both of those things out!! I may also buy a real fly fishing rod here soon haha it was definitely pretty fun! Thank you though brother, I really appreciate you always checking out the videos!!🤜🤛

    You know your crushing the teeth when you grab a Bass with your thumb like you do!!😭😭😲 I have a fly rod in my car and haven’t used it, I just might give it a try if I can stop fishing for Bass for a minute! Videos are awesome, though I may need a twelve step program cuz you got me hooked on that Bass mannn✌️Stop crushing the teeth, my thumbs hurt from those little teeth.

    Great video, would you say the lakes are deep enough for some classic fishing? Or fly rod only?

    • @fishingcolorado
      @fishingcolorado  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you brother! I would say that they are deep enough but it varies on the pond and time of year! In the summer the ponds gets crazy grassy so some places it may not be possible🎣

    Without any current I still turn into a 4 year old with my fly rod can’t cast and get all tangled up. As soon as there’s a tiny current in the water you’re a pro again so strange

    • @fishingcolorado
      @fishingcolorado  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man no pro at all brother this was actually my first attempt at fly fishing!! Bluegill are honestly just so easy to catch and especially if you're in the right location! In this video I could literally see 100 bluegill in front of me lol

    CPW has a lake there that’s supposed to have smallmouth. But it’s dry as a bone.

      I think I know which one your talking about! There's like 2 lakes there that are bone dry, kind of poor management honestly
