Really love this, man. I'm a jazz/gospel/classical pianist, but started as a beatmaker. Ever since learning piano I feel less fulfilled making music that I don't play in real time for the most part. This is a really eye opening look at how to take the beat making process and make impressive phrases and rhythms playable, which I think leads to more "musical" (or intentional) results than just programming things in. Hyped to follow along!
Thanks! Yeah, I am really excited that that short video from the artist house reached so many people. The energy in that room was fun, and the event later that night was wild!
@spinscott serious talent! Loved the video you posted sharing about that clip and your Patreon, very insightful. The DnB scene here in Hawai'i is near non-existent but sometimes we get artists like Dieselboy and Rusko who played a NASTY set during the last Deadbeats visit. It might happen one day, but for now I live vicariously thru ppl like you. Sick 🤙🏽
Thanks! I have decades of experience playing acoustic drum kits, so those skill translate nicely to playing the sampler. I think that's part of what makes it look easy, but I am always pushing limits and trying to one-up myself with these routines. Cheers to Chile!
Still trying to figure out your routines on my MPC ONE, maybe I will try the patreon so I can get some insight from the master! As always a pleasure to hear your craft!
You're great at this! I can finger drum with the lightest tapping on my maschine+ with no problem but on my mpc1000, I'm constantly missing hits. I have velocity on full but still need to really smash the pads to get a response. It doesn't feel healthy for the unit. I guess it helps that you have numerous sounds on each pad, whereas I'm hitting numerous pads at once.
Thanks for the comment! Do you know if you have one of the earlier or later production MPC 1000 units? When they were first made, they had "new" individual pad sensors which were notoriously tough to hit and would fail frequently. Later production runs returned to the single sensor sheet that was native to all of the other models. Not sure which you have, but that may be one of the issues. Another thing to try is the MPC Stuff Thick Pads, which make a much better connection with the sensor. Hope that helps! :)
@spinscott Mine is the later release with the square sensors and the singular sheet for all the pads. Maybe a previous owner was overly rough with it or something. I'll give the thick fat pads a try. Thanks for the advice. Loving the jungle!
Sucks i just found you qnd you just visited colorado 😭 i missed out meeting the king of something i always wanted to do which is live freestyle dnb finger drumming. Keep it up scott glad i found ya.
Fan of your stuff. Got me interested in hardware jungle/breakcore. Came close to copping and MPC1000 but snagged a 404mk2 over it. Is there any particular reasons why you've stuck to the MPC over units like the Maschine, Modern MPCs and the recent 404?
Thanks for commenting! I hear great things about the 404, but haven't tried it yet. I tend to use the MPC 1000 a lot because it pretty much feels like a part of me at this point, and also it has all of the features I need to do these kinds of routines. Best of all, it fits nicely in a Pelican case under all airline seats, so is great for touring. I do love the Maschine+ and use it a lot in the studio, as well as the Pioneer Toraiz SP-16 and SP 1000 for some other projects.
Finally!! Someone recognized the Grievous Insult. :) :) I got into Sorcery last November, and went in deep with Beta. AL has been really fun to open and play as well. Just recently updated my Earth/Fire deck with some AL cards. Cheers!
Oh yeah!! Contaminate is one of Tech Itch's best IMO. The drums are absolutely next level. Hope everyone else here checks it out, definitely a class tune.
Seems like a lot of your pads are a layer of 2 sounds. I tried to copy your style a little when I did the intro to my Teenage Engineering KO-II review. If you ever see that I would be interested to hear your tips.

Love the instant smile you get when you play.
It really is my favorite activity. :) :)
Exactly. It's great to see him play. And amazing how he keeps rhythm.
Holy shit when you break it down like this it makes it even more impressive, everything is layered perfectly no overlap, no gap
Thanks so much! :)
Я давно вас слушаю, мне 35 лет. Я рэйвер со стажем. Люблю танцевать! Хожу га фестивали. Jungle in SPb its live!

Thanks so much! Yeah, the Patreon is going well so far, especially the one-on-one sessions.

Ahhh i loved seeing your name on that line up. You and neeketone should get a collab started (:
Thanks! It was awesome to be able to work with Hacienda Mastering Studio again... we go way back :)
🤟
Would you ever consider collaboration with Tim Reaper or 4 am KRU ?
Two good names there. :) Been on lineups with them a couple times while touring over in the UK.
👍
When will you be in the Netherlands?
Hopefully in 2025! Played Rampage Open Air earlier this year, and will be doing some more shows in Europe soon.
hey, spinscott! i guess in the video you played other break, am i wrong? hello from Russia!😊
Thought it was saying crumble lol
Hey Scott! Check out a track,
Technical Itch - Contaminate
I listened to it allot in my teens and I know you’d appreciate the drums used in this
Oh yeah!! Contaminate is one of Tech Itch's best IMO. The drums are absolutely next level. Hope everyone else here checks it out, definitely a class tune.
@@spinscottI’d love for you to create a beat similar to contaminate if that’s even possible? Keep up the good work Scott your an amazing talent mate👍🏻
