    I made a retinoid cream! If you're interested, check it out here: shop.heystratum.com
    It's now my favorite retinoid product in the world and the one I use each night... but I'm biased here, so do your own research.
    I used the strongest over the counter retinoid available in the U.S. to get maximum effect, but added a BUNCH of moisturizing and soothing ingredients so that it's not irritating like most retinoids.

      Well said, I've recently started to find resentment for the skin care culture & their sales teams... never fun to go to a 'doctor' and leave worse than you arrived..:( It would be nice to have a new centralized health authority vs the legacy cooperate mess we confuse for medical care today.

    Had acne for ages and then an endocrinologist prescribed me spironolactone and within a week my hair started falling out in chunks and has never been the same since. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made. In the end I had to go on two courses of roaccutane and that exacerbated my hair shedding and thinned out the texture of my hair. My acne is gone but it took my best feature with it.

    You are an amazing dermatologist! Thank you for being so honest! This is soooo rare nowadays when everyone tries to sell so much stuff. So much respect for you! Could you please recommend cruelty-free moisturizers? Many brands like CeraVe, Neutrogena, etc are kinda shady, say they don't test on animals ''unless required'' in China or through suppliers, or through a third party. So they actually do test. We'd love to know really good cruelty-free products.

    • @usamasyed
      @usamasyed  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Honestly I'm not an expert on the 'cruelty-free' genres because I feel like most of the information on it is inconsistent and misleading e.g. brands that advertise as 'cruelty free' will still use ingredients that have been tested by OTHER companies and become part of the FDA 'approved monograph' allowing them to be used in the cosmetics in the US.

    • @heyyayyo
      @heyyayyo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@usamasyed Thank you very much for the quick reply! Do you have any thoughts on Revolution Skincare? That's what I've been using, they say their products are cruelty-free, they are inexpensive and seem quite ideal.

    • @ejohnson3131
      @ejohnson3131 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The whole “cruelty-free” thing is BS that companies use to charge you more for their products, so don’t let that claim be the reason why you buy or don’t buy a skincare product.
      A lot of the leading brands do lots of research before launching a new product with new ingredients. They have to test on animals to make sure it’s safe for humans. Your cruelty-free brands benefit from that research, so it’s just hypocritical to shop from “cruelty-free” brands.

      @usamasyed I have acne prone skin. My skin is oily still at 40. Other the years I have learned that my skin is also extremely sensitive and as a reaction I get more acne. The blemishes look like my regular acne and not allergic reactions. Although I can also get allergic reactions. No Dermatologist found out or even tried to investigate that part. Avoiding fragrance, alcohol essential oils, flower water like rose water or moisturizers with a lot of oils have helped a lot. VitC and leave on salycilic acid products also trigger my scne. The list is long. But it's under control now.I found out by myself by trials and errors over the years since I started to get acne at 13. Using acne fighting ingredients have helped of course. But changing my pillow case often 2/week for me using a special small towel for my face everyday has also helped. I saw the difference when I did and when I did not. It's unfortunate that many Dr who see acne prone skin never consider that it could also be sensitive. Most products that target acne are harsh including many medications I tried in the past. Thankfully I have a Dermatologist now who understands that, because he has seen it enough times in his many years of practice (he is close to retirement) so he does not look at me like a crazy person... like other Dermatologists I had in the past but who did not even help.
      If acne was that simple to treat nobody would have it. People who suffer from acne follow Dr advice to the T with hope that it will stop until they have to face the truth when it's not working. Treating acne is not as simple as black and white. This or that protocol/ingredient followed by the book is not always helping patients and other the years we often have to learn our skin ourselves.

    Awesome video! I love it as a cause & treatment overview for the hormonal cystic acne, but what about the solid cleansing regime in the morning and in the evening as a very important part of it? Because the dirt, make-up, sweat, etc. that is unproperly cleansed off the face with acne is a) clogging b) contributing the spread of bacteria, c) preventing the products to penetrate... Plus, the improper cleansers (too oily or too stripping) mess the barrier up. Can you talk a little bit about that? 🤗

    I was on Accutane for 7 months and it totally cleared my hormonal acne away as of March 2023. I started my first pill in September 2022 and last pill I took was on March 2023. I started from 20mg, 40 mg, 60 mg to 80 mg. I now have glass-like, smooth baby skin and currently on tretinoin for preventative measures. I'm on the 0.05% tretinoin and it works for me. We've been best friends for the past 7 months and never breaking up. Plus I wear sunscreen everyday. My hairdresser complimented me on my skin the other day and asked me what I was using. I told her it was my bestie Tretinoin. I guess she didn't believe me cos I saw her pull my hair up to check for scars after a face lift lol. Mind you I'm only 37 but look 27. Nuff said! Love my bestie Tretinoin ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕

    I have been struggling with severe back acne, and recently my dermatologist prescribed isotretinoin capsules, 10mg, as part of my treatment plan. However, I have some concerns regarding its safety since no blood tests were conducted before starting the medication. Could you please provide some insight into whether it's generally safe to proceed with isotretinoin without prior blood tests? I want to ensure that I can trust the process and have a better understanding of the potential risks.
    Additionally, I cannot thank you enough for freely sharing this valuable information on TH-cam. ❤️

      @usamasyed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't want to second guess other providers you may be seeing in person! Generally speaking, it's normal in US clinical practice to check liver enzymes, a cholesterol panel, and a full blood count, as well as a pregnancy test for biological females. It's best to discuss your specific case with your own doctor.

    One thing I am a bit unsure of, is what you mean by "concentrated sugars" being linked to acne? I haven't heard from credible sources that regular sugar causes any skin-problems before, but I am also unsure if that is what you are talking about or not

    • @usamasyed
      @usamasyed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s more high glycemic index foods that can cause inflammatory states in the body, not specifically white sugar, although that would likely too of course!

    • @axelkyneb4668
      @axelkyneb4668 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@usamasyed What type of inflammation are we talking about? Long term or short term? 😄
      This video gives a great explanation of why sugar (and other high glycemic foods) in it of themselves are not more inflammatory to the body than other foods - but overconsuming food is.

    As a man, Good diet nr 1. Hydration, 1 simple cleanser without harsh chemicals. Like sukin cream cleanser. Tallow balm as mosturizer if needed. Dont use any mosturizer anymore. Cause of acne is your body getting rid of toxins from a bad diet. Thats why its so common.
