    Sometimes you just get drawn to the deity. It’s like a magnetic pull. You read upon the deity and you automatically feel a soul connection. It can be very powerful. And it’s a life long journey with him or her.

    I self identified Skanda (Maruga) as my Ishta Devata. I just felt close to him and events just conspired to have him enter my life through courses and presentation through Pillai Center. I started to do daily puja to Skanda, and it seems that my relationship with him has really blossomed. I just intuitively knew that Skanda was my deity. Of course, everyone must find their own path - via their birth chart, their guru, or whatever way appeals to them. My life has been immeasurably enhanced by daily communing with Skanda.

      Skanda, also known as Murugan in Tamil Nadu has extensive literature in Tamil language. Thirupugazh (Thiru - eternal, Pugazh - praise) is an excellent anthology of poems written by Saint Arunagiri Nathar with Rhyme and Rhythm, filled with tongue twisters, yet simple. Lord Murugan is known for bestowing Gnana or Wisdom. That is why the most Siddhars prayed to Lord Murugan. I wish People understood Tamil, because ThiruPugazh is mesmerizing with the rhymes, rhythms and meaning.

    Im impressed by your knowledge of this concept. My dad being an astrologer ive seen him describe or try to describe kula devas of ppl who come to him and usually getting it right. A place to start would be the upasana deva of the father/mother, however a person may have a different ishta deva. Next comes kula deva, then comes any temple nearest were the person used to regularly visit in childhood or even now, or any temple were the person/parents/grand parents worked at in any capacity, be it priest or be it staff. We have seen all these temples come up as important for that person as indicated by horoscope. Basically charity begins at home. Start from home and work outward.. Good video.

    Thanks a lot ,Sir. Your idea of Dream is some how more appropriate to me, I knew who is my ISHTA DEV, in my point of view ISHTA DEV is that LORD even if u don't like or worship that particular LORD before, but he is the one who helps us without any prayer, who comes in our dream in the worst phase of our life & in the most helpless situations. The other Lord whom we love, respect,worship don't care about our situations its called blind devotion due to MAYA, only bcz ur fortune don't want U to live a higher level of spiritual life by which u become Enlightened & get Salvation so it humilates & manipulates u by misguiding U by other Lords who treat u like slaves. It is very much practical when U get the patronage of ur ISHTA DEV, U become Fearless, Contented, Enlightened & everything happens in a right way for U by his GRACE only. AUM NAMAH SHIVAY.🕉️🙏🙏🙏🔱

I had no idea who it was. Twenty years later I saw a painting with Vamana and recognized the Deity as who I had seen in my meditation. The more I read about her, the more I was like wait a minute. When I type fan fictions my character sounds a lot like this. I think she also gave me Vishnu’s name and I sometimes get an odd feeling that Kali disagrees with Shiva when it comes to me. So I’m not 100% sure if it’s just Kali or Kali and Vishnu or not.

If you are naturally drawn to a particular deity, feel a connection, and enjoy a causeless desire to worship that deity, and if your heart would break if you were to discover that that deity is not your ishta - then that deity is most certainly your ishta Emoji

      Well, those shlokas must actually be mantras. Mantras are in reality the embodiment of the devi devatas themselves. So when you chant the mantras, you are actually connecting with the Devi/Devatas.

    The best way to know your Ishta Devata is to directly perceive Him or Her via ritambhara prajna (clairvoyance, Cf. Patanjali's Yoga Sutras). The accuracy will depend on the degree of your development of ritambhara prajna. Selection by a guru is accurate only to the extent that the guru has ritambhara prajna. A very common way to know one's Ishtadevata is your feeling, which Devata feels most familiar to you, whom you like the most, feel most drawn to (not intellectual, but emotional). Prayer or sincere request is a good point made in the video, including starting with Ganapati (Ganesh) and also Devi, or any Devata (one of the 5 Devatas (Panchadevata, the other 2 being Surya and Vishnu). Re: astrologers. a) astrologers vary quite widely in their abilities, and b) there are more than one astrological method of determining Ishtadevata. So astrology is reliable to the extent that a) the astrologer is skilled, and b) the method used is accurate. Thanks for the video and knowledge points.

    I really hope this question doesn't sound stupid...but when we pray to or worship a Ishta Devata, are we not just praying to the true self?

    • @bigwave7207
      @bigwave7207 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is not a stupid question. That can be a very good place to start from. How you approach the deity has a lot to do with how they respond to you. Seeing the deity and yourself everywhere, all the time, and in everyone, is significant.

      Yes. The Kyla daivat and kuldaivata are respectively masculine and feminine daivatas which agave been worshiped by your past generations after generations.

    My Ishta Devata is Holy Spirit from Christianity. I can strongly feel him inside when visiting church. I come from the Czech Republic, Europe.

      @lattor,
      kindly requesting you to rethink about this reply, Please analyse what is meant by devatha and does this spirit come under the definition of devatha?
      To definite it as good or bad, simple question. What is the output? Euros were praying to holy pagan religion, after getting conberted into kistianity for 1000 years they became ultimate z0mbies, only output is hatred within and outside, inabded austrlia, africa,america,canada,everywhere and started chenocide program,
      So, please rethink after you are going to continuously worship this spirit.

      @@bharathvansh5127 Thank you for your reply. I tried to worship Shiva many times, trying to follow Hinduism, doing Yoga but nothing changed. I had even strange horror dreams of hellish cannibal reincarnation cycle. I returned to Christianity but not catholic christianity - I don't think this is true Christianity - this I would call zombie religion. My output of Holy Spirit in the church was peace and love. I was heartbroken, feeled strong anxieties but I felt the Holy Spirit even though I was practising Hinduism for over probably one year and even though I was full of hatred towards Christians (because I was born catholic)! Wow, it was so strong. All pain was gone for a while. I felt love and peace in my mind and body and I was reconciliated with my current painful experience. I can say, yes, many christians are full of hatred but I don't consider them christians. Those people are not filled with the Holy Spirit at all but they can be influenced by nature or demonic influences. Christians believe in a devil and devil wants also all christians to go to hell where he hates them and even he hates himself so I'm not surprised many Christians are full of hatred towards other religions and atheists. Interesting fact is also many so called christians and catholics haven't read the whole New Testament and Old Testament. I am currently reading Bible for the first time. People filled with the Holy Spirit are full of love and spread love. It's interesting to find on TH-cam testimonies of ex-satanists come to Jesus Christ. If there is present hatred, the person is not filled with the Holy Spirit and is not born again as we can read in the Bible in the New Tastament where Jesus speaks. This behavior filled with hatred is not christian at all! In The New Testament in the Bible we can read HATRED IS BAD - when somebody punches you into your face, show him even the next side of your face!
