The fallout character overhaul just makes everyone look evil and/or on chems, not my cup of tea

Quick note on "New Vegas Anti-Crash". A ways back, I was having massive crashing issues for Fallout 3. I had just finished a New Vegas playthrough with almost zero crashing because of NVAC, and it occurred to me that since the two games used the same engine, it might just work for Fallout 3...installed it and sure enough, it works fine. I went on Fallout 3 from crashing every 5 minutes to not crashing AT ALL. New Vegas Anti-Crash is brilliant! :)

Avoid Project Nevada like the plague, it's heavily outdated. I recommend Viva New Vegas instead, it's a vanilla+ modlist that is light on the computer.
i always used Project Nevada, but the sprint animation seems awful to me. I saw videos from The Frontier and im lookin that sprint animation. Ill check Viva new vegas. Ty
Project nevada isnt as bad as a lot of people are saying these days, its outdated, messes with performance, and has some pre-advanced nvse scripts built in, but its not a mod that'll kill your game and it does the job its supposed to

It's a fairly light modpack that makes the game slightly prettier and fixes a lot of bugs and mistakes, all while retaining a vanilla feel. Should work on most computers, even a toaster like mine.

Instead of Nevada skies use Altitude but NS will work. Instead of more perks use perk pack plus. Instead of FOMM use Mod Organizer 2. Read Viva New Vegas for more info.

@@superbattledroidposting gonna have to chime in and say new vegas redesigned 3 is a solid choice as well. A bit more complex to download than new vegas redesigned 2 revised, but its worth it if youre willing to go through the trouble.

@@emperorcokelord1021 95% of the frontier team said it wasn't meant to be 100% lore friendly but the person who ran their steampage put it as lore friendly without most of the people who spoke and represented the mod even knowing it was listed that way because the original frontier mod team was a fucking mess with Zero management.

Mods like EVE and Project Nevada are heavily outdated and broken and are NOT recommended to use. Everyone should follow the Viva New Vegas list to have the most stable setup. Most of this list is kinda bad and you should put a disclaimer.

also is eve outdated? In the video he said the mod still receives updates. I even checked the mod was last updated as of about 11 days ago today.

@@leggotheeggodemon1323 No you're right, he isn't recommending these mods so it's not a big deal, but it is kinda dangerous to show these now imo. Also about EVE it might not be "outdated" per say but it does mess with a lot of different animations so it's very hard to make it compatible with other mods. Something like EXE is much easier to work with, however EVE is fine to use by itself.
He does put out a disclaimer for PNV though, this video isn’t meant to be a recommendation list.

The Fallout Character Overhaul looks a lot like the old designs of Interplay.
If that's good or not is up to the person, but I think it looks a little weird.
Facts. The dorky vanilla faces will always be the meta. But if you really want to "update" the appearances of the characters, I recommend Brave New World, unless you're really in it for the bugfest that FCO comes with.
It still looks way better than Dragbody's Uncanny Valley face mods though. If you're using anything other than New Vegas Redesigned 3 you're not modding NPCs right
I have FCO, New Vegas Redesigned & Dragbody's NPC Overhauls all installed. I use all just to make almost every NPC look different and more unique

I never use character overhaul cause i just cannot stand the look of the textures. I go for what is called a 'vanilla plus' modding experience.
Same here. Mods should always abide to the story and essence of the game as close as possible. I think of mods like hot sauce. I want to enhance the flavor not mask it.
@@seronymus i think enhancing the faces is all good, but these completely clash with the rest of the art style. I don't use texture overhauls and such because they just don't feel right.
Agreed, New Vegas Redesigned 3 looks way better while also keeping a vanilla look, I'd highly recommend that over just about every other HD NPC mod out there

@@voltrainer Nah, NVR 3 is different from FCO, it adds better textures and more details while also keeping the vanilla look and feel, FCO adds completely new races that all give you a thousand yard PTSD death stare
Something I've noticed.
Usually most mods take place in city's, towns, add new followers and sometimes new buildings in towns.
But you never really see stuff actually out in the wasteland of new Vegas, like a gas station in control of fiends that you can take out to make a little home base, or something like a crashed pre war vertibird with a little side quest. To pick up a mini gun.

I had more fun in New Vegas in terms of funny and memorable stories and moments, because its an RPG-focused, unlike FO4 that is FPS-focused
Yeah i feel you, the worst thing is the dialogue, i cant immerse myself with just being sarcastic, even Fallout 3 is even better than F4, for that Fnv is regarded as the best Fallout game

The nmc pack being at the top was very surprising to me. To be fair, I’ve always been more gameplay minded than story and graphics, so I’ve never gotten much into visual mods. Still though, a texture pack at the top? Not even a full graphic overhaul? Crazy stuff.
EVE is by far one of my favourite mods for both fallout 3 and new vegas. Those animations and effects put a lot of fallout 4 and 76's to shame.

Ahh I remember when project Nevada came out at the start. Those were the days and those were the fallout videos I watched then. With that live action Nuka something series haha. Ahh the memories 😩😭😂

I recommend Anniversary Anim Pack, Dedicated Weapon Animations (kNVSE) and FNV Clean Animations mods to enhance the gunplay up to 11!! Oh I forgot, Revolver Fanning Animation mod also quite good if you love to roleplay as cowboy gunslinger!!
Finally got my new PC and downloaded all the mods shown in a tutorial video so I’m excited to get into actually downloading the big mods like this. Glad I watched this video though so I can learn to do my research before just randomly downloading whatever I think I can
Well you should do more research. 99% of these are old, outdated, and broken.
He doesn't seem to have expressly said it, but weapon mods expanded does cover unique weapons.
It's nice to see all of these mods are still up on Nexus. I used Gopher's new tutorial of essential mods for NV from 2020 i think. things ran great, then 76 came out and I didn't play for a while. Half my mods are no longer hosted on Nexus because of the mod pack dispute, and the game won't load. I need to hunt them down just to update them. It's easier to just reinstall the game.
i like easy pete before the mod, with the mod he looks creepy, the bard the teeth, the stuff for a nightmare.
I wish there was a more lightweight version of FCO without textures or neckseems mainly so the NPCs can look better and also allow me to use seemless texture mods
Fallout New Vegas really changes us, at least when i add my mods and play i feel like im in an another world, the game is just different, literally
Pretty easy to figure out why the body mods do better in Fallout 4 and Skyrim... the graphics are just a lot better, so you can make better looking female characters so people focus more on those kinds of mods there.

I feel like I’ve seen some of these mods mixed with The Frontier. That military power armor for example in Project Nevada, you can find that in The Frontier. Same goes with the explosion effects. I’ll edit this comment to mention anything else I notice.

More Perks was created in way back in 2010 and last updated also way back in 2012, without the help of script extenders coupled with broken perks and poor implementation.
Is it worth trying out for a new play through? And if it isn’t is there anything similar that’s worth trying?

Those are hardly the best mods. Things like Imports from the Commonwealth, armor ports from games like CoD and even companions like Captain Price and soap. There are also modern guns that makes the gun play like modern shooters (Found in gunetwork, some in nexus and the best were in private discord servers.
Most of these mods are buggy and VERY outdated. You would be best off following this guide vivanewvegas.github.io/
I would recommend not following the mods in this video, search for Viva New Vegas and use that.
Vortex is fine for most things now, but anytime I go back to Fallout NV I use the FOMM fork still.

If you want good overhauls, check out Dragbody's faction overhaul mods on GUN, which I believe is Gamers Underground Network, but yeah, dragbody has the *best* faction overhauls, hands-down, and coupling that with Fallout character overhaul is a must

I’ve used character overhaul so much now that when I did a no-mods run for nostalgia purposes I was shocked bc I had use the mod so often I ended up just thinking those were the default faces it’s so good to me personally.

They both show as working for me and it will go in game but brave new world won't work at all.
I've never had issues with EVE and Project Nevada. I still use them. It's order of operations. There are a plethora of guides out there telling you how to and what order to install each of these. My games are always stable.
I think the main issue is the outdated way the mod works and it impacts a lot of performance. From what I researched, Nevada mod runs a bunch of scripts every frane (about 20 scripts consistently) and it can majorly impact performance for a lot of people's PC's, especially older ones. I definitely noticed when I couldn't get past 100 FPS on my Nvidia 3060. Most of the features on Nevada have actually been ported out as single, more modern mods that work much better, increasing performance greatly.

I always enjoy mods in Fallout.
Fallout's mod community is unbelievable, I have no words to describe it without falling short. I'm pretty sure Bethesda would have fall into oblivion long time ago without modders, they turn OK-ish games (for the most part) in new, great experiences. I tip my proverbial hat to all of you.

Last time I reinstalled/modded NV was during the pandemic lockdown, and PN was still a must have for me, at least
a lot has come out since then, i just recently came back after a hiatus myself and there is just so much to check out. but yeah, over time mods can NOT age very good if they are not maintained, as they can become incompatible with newer mods or even worse, cause issues to your game that would force you to remove it.
Just bought the game again on Steam and it's downloading right now, this videos will be very useful!

Hey, I'm looking for a mod that essentially just takes the armor of factions and makes versions that don't discise you as a member of said faction doses anyone know of such a mod existing. There's some armor that I find good but just don't want to be hiding from a certain faction while using it. If anyone can point me to such a mod, that would be appreciated.

Project Nevada is still great! There are patches for everything I care about, and it's super easy to have so much content handled by one mod.
Last i played fnv was last year and i had more than 100 mods and i was not crashing even though i only have a 4gb ram laptop and nevada was one of those.

Over a 1000 hours in New Vegas, never crashed, actually my PC never crashes with games, and it's 13 years old. Even games like Guild Wars that crashes my friends Gaming Beast PC's, didn't happen with mine. Guess I'm lucky with it like that.
For me someguy2000 mods will always be my favorites, it deserves to be in top 10 imo

Tbh you hardly even notice the additions project Nevada adds. There’s a reason why it’s still one of the most downloaded mods ever. It’s still one of my preferred mods. I don’t think b42 works well enough to justify replacing pn.

I don’t know how/why but I only crashed 2-4 times all through my 56 hour game ((I have over a thousand hours but anyways she was my NCR Character named sweets)) but yeah I barely crashed and I was playing on PC

btw: loading a modded elder scrolls or fallout game ingame is not the best idea... close the game, start it again and load a save is THE way to go or your game/ scripted mod might stop working at one point
Face overhaul looks way too goody for me to consider downloading it
Literally only two things on this list I actually agree with. The rest are horribly outdated and I DO NOT recommend using.
Number 1: Project Nevada - A very old outdated mod that used hard data instead of scripts. You are better off using Stewie Tweaks, Johnny Guitar, and others like those that does what Project Nevada does but uses light weight scripts instead of hard data. This top 10 list did not age well.
Number 2: EVE - This is used to be the golden child of improvements but has become a major problem on newer systems. It still relies on hard data and bloats your saves and causes a number of problems. Its no longer recommended using this on modern builds of your games.
Number 3: Fallout Mod Manager - Actually DON'T use this. Its one of the worst mod managers you could choose to use and its even worse than NMM. I recommend Vortex. Its far easier to use, and already has everything like LOOT built into it. Fully automated making it easier and safer to plug and play. It also uses RULES to sort what should load first instead of having to micromanage everything like MO2
Number 4: FCO - This was a great overhaul for its time, but there has been far superior mods released since then that are far more lightweight and don't screw with your saves and doesn't cause so many errors like FCO can.
Number 5: More Perks - Sounds great on paper, but the execution of this mod is loaded with errors that was never fixed by the author. Don't use.
Number 6: Weapon Mods Expanded: another mod that was awesome at the time but is loaded with problems that will conflict with just about everything. I recommend at alternatives that uses scripts
Number 7: NMC texture pack - This mod is a save game buster. It will bloat your saves and contribute to crashes. Because of the RAM issues already present in Vegas, this mod amplifies that existing problem to an extreme degree. Don't download.
Nevada Skies should be ok in theory, but be mindful of the community on how to install this correctly without conflicts.
Anti Crash is a MUST
Mod Configuration Menu is a hard requirement. It may be old, but it works just as it should despite that. Always download this first.
That's my list. It would take far to much text to list all the mods you SHOULD be using in the place of these I rebutted against

Fallout New Vegas really doesn't have a crashing problem as it sits today. i don't Rember the last time i dealt with crashes tbh, crashes have more to do with people using mods incorrectly alot of people get download happy and dont read the descriptions of the mods properly which leads to crashes...
Ok. Seems legit list of mods but you clearly forgot to at least mention 2 more pretty big things. Things that can bring you more good times. And these are New California & ENB
