    I find it so difficult. I'm supposed to be low fodmap.... However I also have lots of food allergies. I never know what to eat. I'm 54. I can't have egg, I can't have avocado, cucumbers, or any of onion family. I love spinich. I've had 5 surgeries as a child for gut issues and was a very sick child. I'm so sick of being sick
    This is why people like you are so very important for people like me. We get the information we need and you explain the whys!

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Awww yeah, allergies are tough. I have a few also separate than the whole FODMAP thing. I was also pretty sickly as a kid - never had surgeries (thank god) but ir was rough because food allergies weren’t really a thing back then, I’m sure it was the same when you were a kid. We just didn’t know what we were looking for and how everything is connected. Definitely a lesson I plan on passing on to the generation. As for what to eat, my personal motto is when in doubt, chicken and rice (or quinoa). You may want to make a list of your sage foods and focus on what you can have instead of what you can’t. I know a lot of people find that helpful. Hang in there, keep up the good work and I wish you the best of luck on your digestive journey.❤️

      try carnivore diet and start from there. Then add different groups of foods 1 by 1 to see wich ones you can tolerate and wich you can't.
      Don't fall for this cr4p right here: chimi churri, cucumber, greens, microwaved quinoa... this is absolutge BS, no ibs can wat any of those

      Oh no! I’m so glad you found my channel and I’m hoping this diet helps to reverse your crohns. I was on my way to a crohns diagnosis when I found this diet and it stopped it in its tracks once I figured out which foods were causing my issues and removed them from my diet. They told me it was an autoimmune issue, I’m sure they told you that too, but I actually had undiagnosed food allergies that were causing the inflammation and immune reaction. I don’t know if that’s the case fit you, but I just wanted you know that it is possible. Best of luck!❤️

    Great video. I stopped snacking and eat 2 meals and a protein smoothie at breakfast. The time between meals helps my digestion immensely…. And the addition of warm tea after eating and hydration throughout the day. Protein, fats and moderate amounts cooked greens. ❤

    Thank you for this video! I'm like you and do not normally eat three meals a day. I usually either: eat a late breakfast (similar to the one you ate - heavy in the protein and good fats) with a dinner; sometimes, a light, but high protein lunch (might even have eggs and greens for that) and dinner; or, dinner only.
    Side note: rewatched some of your Thanksgiving food videos to try out this year. Always appreciate your good work!❤

    Are the pickles still low fodmap if the brine has garlic? I’ve tried so many different brands and they all seem to bother me, but I’m well past the elimination phase. Been maintaining for a couple years. Love your vids! Such a huge help🖤

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Great question! I think it comes down to both the person and the pickles. I don’t seem to have a problem with most brands, I can even drink the pickle juice and be okay, but there is one brand I have tried that is too garlicky for me to handle. So again I think it comes down to personal tolerance. If you’ve tried all the brands and still can’t find one without garlic that doesn’t upset you, you may want to try and make your own pickles. It’s not too difficult, the hardest thing for me is keeping everything below the brine so it doesn’t grow the bad bacteria. I’ll link a video for you that explains the process since I don’t have one. I know it may seem like a lot to do, but when I really wanted something, I would figure out how to make it in a way that I could eat it, and now that’s why I have this channel, so I do think it is a good strategy for life in general, you know. Best of luck!☺️

    I found out I had IBS, was intolerant to oats and yeast about a year ago. I never did anything about it because I couldn't accept the fact I was now restricted from eating things I love. Idk I love food lol I also around the same time stopped smoking nicotine so I turned to food, so whenever I was bored I would eat and eat whatever I want which caused me to gain weight and still always have a bloated stomach. I’ve always tried to avoid garlic and oil because I knew those were the worst for you when you have IBS.
    Well now, I’m trying to lose weight, eat healthy and start this low FODMAP diet. What I keep hearing in your videos is that you don’t agree with snacking throughout the day which I understand. From what I was told the best way to eat is small portions of things throughout the day like 5-7 times a day (hunters gather diet 🤷🏻‍♀️) to get your metabolism back on track. Along with that I’ve been walking 30 mins in the morning before eating and I’ve been doing it for about two and half weeks now and I’ve lost 8 pounds already. Sooo I don’t want to stop because I’m trying to lose some weight. Is there another way that recommend going about doing so?
    Oh and I also stop eating at 6 every night and sometimes I’ll start eating at 10 or 12. Other than my dreaded IBS I feel fine.

    Looks delicious! Do you use lactose free cream?

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope! Heavy cream, since it is all fat, is naturally lactose free! Lactose is a sugar found in the non-fat portion of the milk. You can check the label on the cream and it will say 0 sugar which means no lactose! Just be aware that there are other components in dairy that can cause symptoms. You also want to be mindful of preservatives, binders, and emulsifiers that are commonly found in heavy cream - those weird chemicals can cause digestive upset and be harmful to the microbiome. You ultimately just have to try it and see how you feel. Best of luck!

    Hi! Is this diet or food that you are eating for the first phase of low fodmap?

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello. I’ve been in my maintenance phase (phase 3) of the low FODMAP diet for 5-6 years now so this day of eating does contain a bit more of certain foods that contain fodmaps that I know my body can tolerate like cherry tomatoes, beans, and avocados. You could follow the same basic format of these meals like protein+veg+starch over leafy greens, just be mindful of the serving size of the FODMAP containing veg and only add one low FODMAP serving of a FODMAP containing food per meal. For example, the tomato bean mixture I made for dinner wouldn’t work in the elimination phase (phase 1) because cherry tomatoes and beans are both high FODMAP. You’d have to choose a low FODMAP serving size of one or the other. I hope that was helpful.☺️

      While I do like to employ fasting periodically to activate the body’s healing mechanisms, I don’t think it will get your bowels moving. Here are a few things you can try: 1. 32oz of water with the juice of 1 whole lemon and 1 tsp of salt (preferably natural mineral salt like Celtic salt but pink Himalayan salt will work too) 2. Add 1 tbsp of chia seeds to 8oz water and shake until it gels. 3. Try a powdered magnesium citrate supplement like Calm.
      amzn.to/3V5iaDu
      Also try to walk outdoors for at least 30 mins per day. Hope that’s helpful. Good luck.❤️

    I’ve tried different diets and nothing has worked. I don’t know what fodmap is I did keto for a long time trying to lose weight. I went from 198 to 156. I feel OK at my weight but I want to lose more. This diet scares me because I don’t eat starch. I don’t wanna gain weight and that I kind of makes me gain, I have been doing carnivore a little meals a day lunch and dinner. My lunch is usually around one or two and then I stop eating at about 7 o’clock. Maybe I don’t eat vegetables bread pasta if it’s not carnivore again if I eat bread or potatoes at least a pound, my Gastro doctor seems to think that I have IBS because we did a colonoscopy and a endoscopy and everything came out good TMI I have diarrhea every day for the last three years doesn’t matter what I eat. I’m scared to go anywhere far because I’m afraid I’ll have an accident, I’m desperate and I need to find something that will help me. Thank you for being there.

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ooooo that’s sucks. I’m so sorry, I’ve been there. It could be a FODMAP issue causing the diarrhea and this diet could help. First of all I want to say that this is not a weight loss diet but that doesn’t mean you can’t lose weight on it. You also don’t have to eat starch. Since you’re only eating animal protein and veg, you could be eating too many vegetables that are high FODMAP which is could be causing the loose stools. Watch my low FODMAP diet explained video for more details on how that happens. th-cam.com/video/60a608yZV44/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NlCkqTXn-GYucfj1
      I also don’t have anything agains carnivore if that’s working for you. Lastly, I would recommend mixing 1 tbsp on chia seeds with 8oz of water and shake it until it gels up. Try drinking that daily and see if it helps to bulk up your stool. I hope that helps. Best of luck to you on your digestive journey!❤️

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, they are. However this diet is all about serving sizes, and you can have a singular low FODMAP serving of high fodmap foods during a meal during the elimination phase. For avo that’s 1oz or about 1 tablespoon. After going through the reintroduction phase, I was able to determine that avo doesn’t trigger any symptoms for me, so I can eat as much avo as I want. Woo!!

    • @gritandgroceries
      @gritandgroceries  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh no! When that happened to me it was because I wasn’t producing enough acid and bile to breakdown my food very well (from years of taking antacids) and my intestines were so inflamed that couldn’t absorb what I was breaking down. It turned out that I had undiagnosed food allergies that was causing the inflammation - mostly garlic. Once I removed it from my diet, my weight stabilized. I don’t know if this is the case with you, but it’s something you might want to explore especially if you have undigested matter in your stool regularly. Gross, I know, sorry. I’m really hoping sharing this helps you. Best of luck.🙏🏻

      I’ve said this many times - the low FODMAP diet is all about serving sizes and you can have 1 low FODMAP serving of a high FODMAP food per meal - for avocado that would be 1 tablespoon. However, since I have gone through the reintroduction phase of this diet, I know that avocados do not trigger ibs symptoms for me, which is why I feel comfortable eating 1/2 a small avo in one sitting.
