Low fodmap actually works. I'm having so much relief with my bloating, I can't believe! I miss my onions, garlic, lentils and wheat being an Indian but worth fixing my gut!
I have been on my fodmap journey for just over a year and so wish I had you as a resource when I started. So much of this is murky and you have cleared up a lot, e.g. I know what is meant by hard cheese! Thank you.
Yay! I’m so glad! This is kind of a complex topic and I struggle with knowing if I’m making sense to people who are new to the concept - so thank you so much for your comment! I think it’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it, and I hope I’m able to illustrate that with my videos. Thank you for watching and I wish you the best of luck on your digestive journey!
So happy I found your videos. I have suffered with IBS for over 25 years with not much help. I am just now finding the FODMAP diet and am going to try it. I have had 6 surgeries in the last 5 years and my gut is a mess. Thanks
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had such a rough go of it, but I’m glad you found my channel. I was put through the wringer by the medical system too (luckily no surgeries tho) and nothing they did ever helped me, ultimately diet and lifestyle changes were what turned everything around for me. I hoping that will be the case for you too. Best of luck, Cynde!❤️
This video was so very helpful!! Looking forward to starting a low FODMAP lifestyle change very soon! I didn’t feel up to any tea tonight; but my favorite is Oolong!!
I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found your channel! There is so much false information out there about the low FODMAP diet. Finally someone who knows what they are talking about!! ☺
Watched half of this video so far as just happened to come across your videos. You make it so clear! I will be taking time to go through your videos. I was told 12 years ago I had ulcerative colitis, only. Turns out I also have IBS. After having bad days this entire time and reverting to stuff I know didn't make me bad, which wasn't particularly good, ended up piling weight on. Need to finally get sorted now I know about IBS and get some weight lost so my young kids have a better dad. Thank you for your videos. Can't wait to see the rest
Hi Gary! I’m so sorry that you were not advised properly by your doc about ibs/uc. I’m my opinion, uc/crohns/diverticulitis/osis occur after dealing with ibs and digestives issues for years, even decades. Eventually the inflammation that occurs with ibs starts to degrade the lining of the bowels and dysregulates the immune system. You probably didn’t get much dietary advice from your doc, neither did I, just drugs - but I want you to know that dietary and lifestyle change is the key to healing your bod. I’m so glad/excited that you found my channel! Digestive issues almost ruined my life and really want to help other people get their lives back too. I fully believe that with time and dedication you can turn your health around and be the father you always imagine you could be. I also try to remember that the ways I’m am able to learn about healing and caring for my body, I will be able to teach my children as well and be able to prevent them from having digestive issues as well. I wish you the best of luck on your digestive journey!
thanks for explaining what happens in the gut when we, w/ IBS, eat high FODMAP foods. I can tolerate certain ones, like celery, figs, raisins and lentils, in smaller quantities. I mean less than a full serving. Thanks very much!
Woo! I need the watch hours. Lol Thanks! I’m happy you’ve gotten a diagnosis after 4 years of wondering what’s wrong, just be careful not to hold on to it too tightly. I often see diagnoses become limiting beliefs for people, and I don’t want you to get stuck thinking that your symptoms are just a part of life that you have to accept. I got stuck in that belief system for 10 years! Know that you CAN improve your digestion. It will take a couple of years to figure out your triggers, but it’s a worth while journey and there is so much health, happiness and joy waiting for you on the other side! If I can do it, you can do it!❤️
In the reintroduction phase, do you recommend starting with foods we believe to be our triggers first or the foods we believe to be safe foods first? Or, does it really matter?
Hello. Congrats on making it to the reintroduction phase! It doesn’t really matter which foods you introduce first. I would say go for the foods you think are your triggers first just to get it out of the way, and then let’s say you have a reaction, you could then test a food you think is safe the next week just to give yourself a break. Best of luck and hang in there, I know how tough it is to purposely cause yourself symptoms after your finally feeling well, but you seem determined to just get through it and that’s great!😃
Great video and a clear explanation of the low FODMAP diet! I hope it will help a lot of people. I use it too, combined with some days of Intermitted fasting to give my guts some rest. And I have the app for a while now, works like a charm! I'd like to give the tip that I can't tolerate cow dairy products but I can tolerate sheap/goat cheese 50+, of course it's a different reaction from person tot person. But I hope it may help others too. Thank you and succes with further video's.
I’m so glad you’ve found a diet that helps you! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I would really love it if one day the comments section on these videos operated as community message board where we could all share our tips, tricks, and experiences with this diet and digestive issues in general. Thank you for the well wishes and I wish you the best of luck on your digestive journey as well.❤️
Very interesting, thank you for the explanation, that makes it much more understandable to me now .. I wish I had known all this years ago, it could have saved me a lifetime of pain
You're very welcome! I lost YEARS of my life to IBS and chronic illness too! Once I figured out how to manage my health properly, I felt compelled to share what I learned with others, so that they wouldn't have to spend years suffering. I'm so glad you found my channel, better late than never, because I made it for YOU.
Thanks for this real down-to-earth breakdown! I've learned throughout my journey that a full packet of stevia (containing the polyol erythritol) is a big trigger for flare-up.
Aww that sucks, I’m sorry. I think it’s so interesting all the little quirks our bodies have. And that’ll we’ll only be able to figure them out by paying attention. It does take a lot of time and effort, but it seems that you are well on your way! I hope my channel has been helpful to you on your health journey.❤️
I’ve just come across your video on Fodmaps, my Pain Specialist mentioned this diet for me. Problem is I’m now Gluten Intolerant so I have to be very careful with all types of foods I eat. Will this diet be a problem for me? All my pains have come back so I believe it’s got to be food related…
Did you watch the video? Yes, the diet is perfect for you if you're gluten free. It might be worth looking into Ken Berry, Anthony Chaffee and the carnivore diet as well as fasting. Anyway, watch this video multiple times so you understand everything. Good luck!
I dealt with chronic pain/fibromyalgia for nearly a decade - I feel for you. I didn’t think that changing my diet would affect my pain levels that much, I was mostly just trying to deal with my digestive issues, but it did! It was miraculous! It turns out that my pain and Fibro was caused by undiagnosed food allergies. Once I figured out what they were and eliminated them, the pain went away. I’ve been completely off all meds and pain free for 7 years!! I really hope you try this diet/my recipes - you have so much to gain and they are all gluten free!!
Hello! So you say 10 weeks of challenges(one for each category of fodmaps), but I have only been able to categorize about 6 of them, so what are the 10 categories in fodmaps?
Hi!! Yes, I had trouble with this at first too! Monash includes subcategories for polyols (sorbitol & mannitol) and for different fructans I believe - separate challenges for wheat, garlic and onion - I think because it’s so common and they affect people differently even though they’re all fructans. I like the framework of the FODMAP diet as a way to teach people how to run an elimination diet, but believe further personalization is needed. I plan on going deeper into this in a future video, so stay tuned. Good luck, you can do this! and DONT SLACK ON YOUR FOOD JOURNAL.😉
Your video is very informative. I am so close to starting my journey. I have acquired foods necessary for success and have tried a few recipes. I'm shooting for a Monday start date. It's Saturday and I'm on way. I picked up Sarah Mirkin's book which contains not just instructions and explanations of the low FODMAP diet and it's three phases, but also three weeks of low FODMAP recipes. I ran a trial, and her protein portions are way too low for me. I was hungry and that is not a good if one wishes to continue on her recipes. I'll be adding meat and other low FODMAPS -- keeping in mind stacking.
That’s great!! I hope everything is going well! My guess is you’re doing a great job seeing as you have a solid plan and yes, when I do a restrictive elimination phase I up the protein which is really helpful for keeping me full while limiting fodmaps. It also helps to give the body the raw materials it needs to heal itself.😃
Aww I’m so sorry to hear that your son is suffering, but he’s really lucky that we have more knowledge on this kind of stuff now and a parent that can help to guide him through the process. Typically, I would recommend that the elimination phase should last between 2-6 weeks until his symptoms calm down and you can get a baseline for when you move to the next phase - reintroductions, which is really hard because you have to try things that might upset your stomach after you’re finally feeling better. But it’s really important to do this so that you don’t get stuck on a super restricted diet, which can lead to nutrient deficiencies. It can also lead to having fears of certain foods. I wish you both the best of luck on your digestive journey.❤️
I am new, and learning I appreciate your video I think one of my biggest issues is sugar? I have signed up for your videos drink Coca-Cola all of my life. And had open heart surgery lost 50 lb and I'm trying to get a new start with my gut. Please feel free to contact me I am signed up for your videos and any help that you can help with is greatly appreciated
I am teyung to drink more tea but coffee is my #1 . I learned alot, you made it really easy to understand and i am definetly going to start soon. So proud of you!
I feel you, I’ve been a slave to coffee recently. Glad you liked the video and found it helpful! I wish you the best of luck on your wellness journey.❤️
Yesterday a lady in the store asked me why I was buying organic milk. She was a local farmer that had a contract for regular milk. I mumbled something about pesticides and then realized that the regular milk was almost half the price so promised her to try it. The organic milk was probably wasted money just because the milk came from 5 states away, why wouldn’t I support local, I’m not living in a dry state, they must be feeding the cows grass anyhow just like they always claim in the beef yt. So I was excited to save significant money and support the local farming, and thought it probably just was hard to get organic certification and it was a sham. It’s a pity but there is a difference, I had significantly worse bloating and some diabetic symptoms, and the nonorganic also tastes flat compared to the organic. I never tasted or felt a difference between the organic and organic grass fed milk, which is even more expensive, so maybe that means the organic cows are actually fed grass I don’t know but I’ll be sticking to organic milk even though I eat lots of non-organic fruit without issues.
Don’t you just love when you KNOW something in your bones!? There’s so much conflicting health info out there, I honestly think it’s best to just try things and see how they make me feel. I don’t really drink milk, but I do consume heavy cream on a regular basis. I’ve tried both organic and non-organic and haven’t noticed much of a difference in how I feel, but I do agree that the organic has better flavor. I also eat a mix of organic and non-organic when it comes to produce, which seems to be fine for me. We’re all different after all, but my body definitely is not as sensitive as it was 5 years ago when I started my digestive journey. Back then I didn’t eat organic at all because 1. It is expensive, but 2. I wanted to see if going fully organic was necessary to heal my body - it wasn’t, which is a bit comforting to know. I definitely don’t like eating pesticides, but I don’t necessarily trust the organic produce either, so until I can have my own suburban homestead and grow my own food, I try not too think about it too much because there’s not much I can do. It doesn’t seems like we have any great choices really, but healing can take place in an imperfect food landscape, so there’s hope for all of us. Just gotta try and have to good out weigh the bad I guess. Thanks so much for sharing your experience/insight! I hope it helps someone else sitting on the organic fence.

Hello 👋 😊
Hi! Thanks for watching and feeding the algorithm with a comment.😉
