    Scheduling time for projects and blocking it out is the game changer for actually getting things done that you want to leave to the world and the only way I know of to actually create something worth leaving to the world. Great video dude!

    Talking to customers is repeated over and over, especially with the popularity of Lean methodology. But what stood out in this video was your perspective on talking to to your customers about where they are going, where is their industry headed, what are their upcoming challenges and opportunities. Like you said, this reveals things we should be working on, places where we can add value, and deepens the relationship. On top of all that, their responses show us what we should be working on. Thanks Dan!

    I always want to live a better life, not a bigger one.
    If offered a bigger or a smaller life, I might choose a smaller life, as humility is a key trait of enduring success.
    Key trait, Dan.
    Enduring success, not just success.
    Succession. Humility is a key component of succession.
    The meek shall inherit the earth.
    This is a reality, not a theory. Humility brings endowment.

    Another great video Dan, thank you! I love the idea of keeping 50% open and the talking to cutomers piece. how and when do you handle email? also how do handle all the inputs we have, such as email, voice mail, incoming calls, social feeds etc??? I've heard seen some business leaders only answer emails and phone calls, and some will only answer emails the next day. What do you do?

    • @danmartell
      @danmartell  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Monty McCallum great questions.
      re: Email - I have an assistant who reviews everything and follows up helping me out and only passes along the emails that require my personal attention. Turns out a lot of emails we get aren't important. So extremely manageable.
      re: Social Media - I schedule 30 minutes a week (Tue @ 11AM) to review ALL my social feeds and respond / engage / etc... and I turn off ALL notifications during the week.
      The bigger challenge is most people don't value themselves.
      If you sit down and figure out your EHR (Effective Hourly Rate) then you can do an 80/20 analysis of your work/tasks/time and improve it.
      It's not the tactics (what to do) its the beliefs around your time (internal game)

    How do I privatize the us fire departments? I have an innovating idea for a private fire brigade because we all know the market is more efficient than big government. I think we should have a competition between fire departments and negotiate the emergency prices when they arrive on scene with the customer and between the departments before they respond to the emergency. I think my idea will prosper.

    How to stick to the calendar? I'm planning my weeks but when the times comes it's just to hard to follow the instructions and many times I do, there are many problems. For example, I had to shoot some video and the memory card was damaged. That ment a lot of time to fix it and I'll have to shoot tomorrow (now I kwow why do I need my 50% of time unscheduled). Do you have any tips to sick to the plan? If you already have a video on this please link it to me. I'm new in your channel.
