Forgers make 'forgeries' = great art also, for money but 'artists' make art for ? Money also. They both have talent, both work for money and some form of fame, the world needs both.
When you art experts get Rembrandt down to just being a print maker, you will fill as thou you have done your duty as being the Dutch supposed art experts that you are.
They are clever art detectives. I always feel sorry for the tax payer because the forgeries seem to be found when the paintings are owned by state owned galleries.
I think only a daughter outlived the painter. Ironically recently it was discovered that it seems Rembrandt may have been buried w/Titus upon his death in 1669 beneath the floor of the Westerkerk, Amsterdam
@@robertmusacchio9409 The ground wasn't paid for he was buried in so his bones were later dug up by a grounds care taker and thrown in the rubbish pile to sell the ground to another buyer. I read that in a Rembrandt book that was written by Rembrandt's best friend and Saskia's his wife's doctor and taken from notes in his diary who later attended Rembrandt's funeral and Wrote the rest of the notes if anyone of his family dound the road ever was to use them to write the book. The notes were found in an old trunk in a leather bound diary by a great grandson ten times removed. The name of the book I believe was RvR 1642 by Jonas van Loon. The art experts say the book is a bunch of hog wash and completely fiction,.. but I say its the most truthful and best book ever written about this Artist Rembrandt.
Well the forger did a great job. Beatiful painting.
this is so fascinating. when it's light you can (IMO) see traces of early 19thC ideals of beauty.
I'd love to do something like this.
I wish they'd hold the camera still and show the painting more than the people talking.
I WANT THAT PAINTING!!
Shame no close-up of the painting, great to be able to see the brush work.
How can we see this episode and the series in total?
well done

Wow the " Expert" actually got all facts wrong about him.....He wasn't a hero in his own time. And that child passed away before him.
