    Amazing...as a former weightlifter i was taught that back squat was one of the most important exercises to develop leg strenght ..to read in the subtitles that he does not do back squats surprises me..anyway..he is a top lifter and he knows well what is good or not for him..👍👍

      Front squat is better anyway. Stopping back squats doesn't mean stop squatting

    • @xxOmnipresencexx
      @xxOmnipresencexx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Back squat targets a wider range of ancillary muscles and is easier to recover from than front squats. Front squats are more specific to weightlifting, hence their near exclusive use by some specificity-minded programs like the Bulgarian and Kazakh. Before you stop training back squat, ask yourself 1) Am I an A-session weightlifter? 2) Do I have a serious spinal injury? 3) Am I on an advanced performance-enhancing drug regimen? If you not answer yes to at least 2 of those questions, keep back squatting.

    can you ask any of the elite lifters (Shi, Lu, Tian, Li, etc.) if they ever do any periodization for squats/pulls or do they just go ultra heavy all the time? I don't think I've ever seen them do more than 3 reps in any lift, maybe Tian fucked around and did 7 reps once, but for Shi specifically, it seems like sets of 1 and only 1 lol...

      @@xdavidliu yeah I know, but there's a clip of him doing 270 for 7 as well as one of him doing 300 for 4. Just wanted to know if those were just one-offs or part of an actual program at the time, and if any of the other lifters ever do higher volume behind the scenes.
