Being dominant inside and an all around great are two different things. Shaq missed thousands of points on free throws alone which are some of the easiest shots in the league hence the word "free" in it. KD can score in the paint, mid range, from 3, and take you on the dribble. This is why Shaq doesn't include himself in the debate because he was just dominant inside. Not enough for GOAT consideration. Top 3 big men all time no doubt but he lacked many CORE BASKETBALL SKILLS.@@Querymonger

I will never understand why Americans talk about basketball like it’s a one-on-one sport. KD didn’t lose to GSW; the Oklahoma City Thunder lost to GSW. It’s not tennis or boxing.
The team or organisation you are on has a lot to do with how your career turns out. Jordan didn’t win until Jerry Krause started putting good teams together. If Kerr and Paxson don’t hit those clutch shots, who knows what would have happened? Kobe didn’t win post-Shaq until the front office brought in Gasol and Odom and Artest plus Bynum’s maturation. Steph couldn’t win without Dray and Klay and Iggy. In 2022, they needed a totally out-of-nowhere performance from Andrew effing Wiggins to win.
Absolutely no one wins any team sport by themselves. OKC kept surrounding KD with non-shooters in the pace-and-space era. The Warriors, on the other hand, gave Curry his pick-and-roll dance partner (Dray), defenders who could shoot (Iggy, Barnes, Wiggins), and a fellow flamethrower in Klay. San Antonio kept finding the right guys to pair with Duncan outside Manu and Tony.
No individual player can ever outperform his team’s incompetence, and KD couldn’t outperform playing heavy minutes with Dion Waiters and Andre Roberson. It is what it is.

The diff with KD vs The Goats! They were leaders with great support/role players. KD isn't a leader (not in a negative way) he is a hooper. He wants to just hoop with other good hoopers and win games to a chip. He was very lucky and fortunate as a hooper to play with great basketball players in S.C, and K.T with great supporting role players. On paper, I honestly believe K.I, J.H and K.D had an opportunity to win a chip. But, those 3 guys are hoopers. If one of the three were basketball players with leadership type focus, they could've won a chip. I think ppl want K.D to be that MJ-like guy and he's not. He's a GOAT in his own realm as a best hooper the NBA has scene with his skills.

KD is only even in any nba convesation, forget about GOAT , because of steph and the warriors. He never was in the GOAT list. Only KD fanboys put him there. Also, KD cannot win without warriors. He still has not. People acting like he would have won anywhere else are delusional at best.

KD is certainly a unique and great talent but absolutely NOT in GOAT conversation…not even close. Skill -wise TMac is a better version of this talent (just couldn’t stay healthy and injuries derailed his career). On top of all that, KD had to join the 73 win Warriors to get his two chips…Dirk’s one chip is worth more than KD’s chips. Again, KD ultra skilled given his size, but GOAT shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence with KD.

Pull up 3, pull up mid range. And back to the basket game. Can drive by pass defenders with ease And dirk was fast as hell back in the days. So no. Durant was not the first 7foot with 2 guard skills. Doc rivers said it himself. Dirk is a 2 guard playing as a PF.
