The whole theory of the Great Filter is basically that no one species can live long enough that they evolve to the point that they start using things like intergalactic travel. Especially if *all* life in existence evolved the same way as most animals on earth. Because humans are a HUGE anomaly when it comes to that. Crocodiles, for example, have been virtually unchanged for hundreds of millions of years, and will continue to be that way. Humans having this weird explosion in our evolution, where out of nowhere, relatively quickly, we got smart enough to be able to build shit, and get involved in space travel, is super anomalous. Well he had just explained how there is a reason for all video evidence being such horribly poor quality, implying its easier to forge it if quality is abysmal. And he would have heard about it if there was any clear evidence anywhere. So why would he be interested in yet another anecdote without any evidence worth a damn. Because if there WAS clear evidence it would be breaking world news all over the world. Elon is not great at explaining things to average people and I feel that Joe only gets about 25% of what he is saying.

I agree with Elon's theory. If there are no alien civilizations out there, they might've been destroyed before they could become interstellar. This could mean that in reality, any advanced civilization will eventually collapse and destroy themselves.
