Amazingly realistic. What I wouldn't give to have seen one of these beasts in real life. Alas, born in 1953 and only dimly remember seeing a couple steam trains on C&NW commuter line near Chicago. . . This layout is a pretty good time machine!
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about model railroad track layouts try Stiklind Model Train Fixer ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got excellent success with it.

That Locomotive is a very impressive experience. I'm a Union Pacific Big Boy fan even more after seeing it up close. 4004 Cheyenne, Wyoming (outside) ; 4005 Denver, Colorado (inside) ; 4006 St. Louis, Missouri (outside) ; 4012 Stanton, Pennsylvania (outside) ; 4014 being restored at the Cheyenne rail yard (inside) 4017 Green Bay, Wisconsin (inside) ; 4018 Frisco, Texas (not sure what's happening) ; 4023 Omaha, Nebraska (outside) take a family road trip to see one, it's a extraordinary machine.
Fantastic video! The picture quality was amazing! My wife saw part of this video and asked me if I was watching real trains or a model train. Your layout is an inspiration for me to keep working on my layout! I hope someday in the near future I can make a trip to Colorado to visit this fantastic layout. Keep the videos coming ! Randy
In every single video I see of this museum they are always running that F7 ABBA set. It's a great model but you guys could run something else every now and then lol.
Hey Bill, do you happen to know the manufacturer of that Big Boy? I was gonna wait for the release of Broadway Limited's. But they're only gonna do the 4014 in the excursion version. I was thinking about the Athearn and if this is it. It looks pretty nice!!
+Interestingenough4 I only read the article referenced above and it does not address the motivation for UP colors other than to say it was done to match UP Domeliners. I suspect that you can find more information by searching the Internet.
I couldn't agree more, Don. However, it is a public museum and Bill has to work his video magic when the opportunity (and equipment) present themselves. He has done several similar presentations at times when the museum is closed and I would urge you to check a few of these out. Thanx. -David Trussell

Dang, even Big Boy model is a big boy! Kids ARE the reason for model trains! The only thing that would make this video better is smoke.
