  • Health officials in Albuquerque, New Mexico face an outbreak of a rare and fatal blood disorder. Patients suffer sharp muscular pain, fatigue, fever and rashes. Twenty-one people die from the illness. Five other states report similar cases. The epidemic is spreading.
he Center for Disease Control assists federal and state health officials in their hunt for the cause. After six months of relentless investigation, researchers unravel the mystery. Those who suffered the illness have inadvertently given it to themselves. A contaminated batch of a dietary supplement sold in health food stores across the country is the culprit.

It blows my mind that they kept referring to this as a “disease” and blaming tryptophan. This was a poisoning. Tryptophan was not the cause. The substance in the tryptophan caused it. As soon as they realized there was a 2nd case, why didn’t they immediately compare the brands, and test the bottles each patient had? Finally at 34:30 it says researchers contacted the victims to find out what brand they had been taking. The video says this was “weeks after” this had started. Should have done this immediately.

That was my first question when the 2nd victim was found. And why no tests on all the bottles of supplements they were taking. And why not compare the brand names of the victims. I would have done it differently.

It's to do with the way this doco presents the info. We know it's tryptophan very early; what we don't see are the many other equally plausible theories put forward, the many other factors in common with the patients (they're all women around the same age, for instance, and it could have been something which caused the insomnia that LED to the use of the tryptophan), or the process by which things were ruled out. This actually happened incredibly fast for a study and discovery of the actual contaminant.

It is a disease though. Any disorder of structure or function is a disease. If you are not in "good health" you have a disease. The type of disease was due to poisoning.

I took Losartan for years. At two separate times in 2018 my pharmacy notified me that my bottle of Losartan was from a batch that was contaminated (with jet fuel) and made in the Phillipines. The contamination had cancer causing ingredients. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer named Muscinous. My concern about the current drive to make our prescriptions in the US less expensive is manufacturing in other countries who may have issues with lack of inspection or the like.

Through the agressive fear-mongering TV, etc Adverts, intense gov't lobbying, they implied that the gov't wanted to take away their vitamins! Absurd notion! Yet, it succeeded, public was outraged and supported the companies that didn't want to be regulated! The Gov't felt huge public, etc pressure to stop and abandon their helpful new law to regulate! @@michah321100% it’s amazing to see a FULL CURE for some diseases. My kitten got fip which was previously a fatal disease in days, weeks, or maybe a year with a lot of supportive care. It’s not legal here yet due to testing not being completed, but there is a treatment. It’s a big deal and pretty expensive but it works. There’s a Facebook group that will get you the right thing and dosage. My baby was within hours of death, 6 seizures in an hour and a half every time he fell asleep. 3 months of really painful shots later, he’s a very happy, healthy, chunky boi. I’m actually shocked he doesn’t even seem to have any lasting brain damage, he was falling over when he turned his head, could barely use his back legs, and his eyes were all messed up but now he’s completely fine and not on any meds at all. His blood work wasn’t wonderful but he was really sick as a baby when I got him as a foster and presumably has some inbreeding so it’s not all that surprising. He has a checkup in a few weeks but his ultrasound was perfect. We visit the ER staff who saved him when we go to the neurologist so they get to see a healthy pet for once.
I thought I’d be safe bc all of my cats are shelter cats so they’re mutts which should prevent things like this but we’re pretty sure there’s a white Tom impregnating his relatives and having beautiful but very often sick babies.

I can't exactly remember all the details but I do remember reading about an incident during the early 2010s that people were poisoned by green tea extract supplement that either contained arsenic or lead. When 'just fibromyalgia' is mercury poisoning from vaccines and fillings and other stuff try removing it. Iodine drops and chromium picolinate (bluebonnet is 30 % better for me)and much later I added vanadyl sulfate-20 and improved it more. Of a 3 drop Trace brand recommendation I took a dropper full in water. The next morning I was at 20 or 25% reduced pain. Only 12 hours of relief, so I dosed 2x daily, all at 7 drops and a cap of chromium. That got me to zero pain by about day 10. I was not able to work down to 4 drops 1x daily until about month 7 or 8. This should wreck my Thyoid but it got me off that thyroid med or my intermittent fasting killed that parasite. I could walk 10 yards, now I go hiking. I had near tears to get up mornings and now I rarely remember that. Another great detox is Floressence tea 2x daily 3 or 4 months. Make with water that didn't touch plastic or Floride and refrigerate. . See letters in the back of the book The Essiac Report...shocking what symptoms it reversed including my Lupus when GMOS and pesticides were dropped, plus a 6 week sever keto diet to kill the Lupus parasite. My friend did this all in the same 6 weeks and was cured according to blood test and symptoms at day 42. Sleep well by day 14. We had both been at the spontaneous falling stage. The mercury poisoning shocks were gone week 3 or 4 I think. But that was 20 years ago. The proper iodine use is paint the red one (Lugols) on your stomach in a 5 by 10 inch rectangle every morning until it is not slurped up by your body by evening. Then skip for 2 or 4 weeks. Floressence tea gently removes pesticides and heavy metals. Do it yearly for the same 3 months because you still have the same life. God Bless

    • @prettyhatemachine8887
      @prettyhatemachine8887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Because there's no proof. there have been cases of EMS associated with L-tryptophan supplements - from the Japanese firm and from other unrelated firms - that weren't contaminated with the contaminant that was thought to be linked with EMS. there were also cases from unknown sources and one case of someone eating too many cashew nuts that contain tryptophan naturally. No one really knows what caused it, the first theory was the contaminated batches from a Japanese company that changed its filtration method by reducing the activating charcoal used for filtration by half, but it doesn't explain other occurrences that happened before and after the big outbreak. That and the fact that L-Tryptophan exploded in popularity right before the big outbreak points to L-tryptophan itself- either alone or in combination with some other contributing factor - being the culprit of EMS in susceptible individuals.

    • @hannahzion9158

I bet the “cooperative” Japanese company probably paid off the investigators to find nothing. If you isolate a chemical compound, you can tell exactly what it is by doing mass spectrometry and gas chromatography. Why didn’t they tell us what the chemical was???!!! That would be a simple test. Also, they didn’t test the tryptophan sample for biological activity for Bacterial or viral DNA. They could have amplified the DNA in the sample. They should’ve done those two easy tests, but conveniently decided not to. This sounds almost like a bad vaccine reaction, where the body overreacts. They should have done chelation and a blood transfusion right away.

I wish we could get something like that in the USA but our FDA is so corrupt we don't trust them to look at anything that might cut the profit of the big pharmaceutical companies. For example: Desiccated pig thyroid has been used by hypothyroid patients since the 1800s. When the FDA was formed the desiccated pig thyroid was "grandfathered" and given a designation of "generally accepted as safe and effective", GASE, by the FDA. In the past 10+ years the FDA has done everything possible to shut down the manufacturers and caused shortages. Now they're pushing to force the companies to go through all of steps required for a new drug. That would cause manufacturers to either close down or exponentially raise the price of their product.

This is not genetic modification. Humans have done this for millennia via selective breeding. It is about “natural” supplements taken at 1,000s of times their natural level - and thereby no longer natural. This can occur with Vitamins D, E, A and K. If you take too much of these fat- soluble supplements, they accumulate and cause damage. Over-the-counter supplements are not safe if you take them at massive doses. Even water, taken to the extreme, can be deadly.

Many of us cannot afford Rx man-made medicines, or cannot tolerate various ingredients in them, so we buy supplements that [we hope] are closer to natural. Yes it would be wonderful if Dr 's could/would prescribe supplements! But so few doctors even know about them --- & to be fair, there is a TON of supplements out there to learn about; I doubt anyone really knows all about each one. Moral of the story is supplements need to be regulated!

HELL NO!! The moral of the story, is to be a knowledgeable consumer but NOT for the government to take away and regulate an ENORMOUS industry that helps millions. Should we ban spinach because people have gotten echoli? What about beef? Plenty of people have died from problems there, food poisoning etc... Mayonnaise?? Think about what you're saying. Giant reactionary legislation to incidents that happen limit freedom and do very little to improve our lives. Yes, it should be incorporated into food standards as the FDA inspects all food products. But "regulating" the entire supplement market out of hand is not the solution.

This makes me wonder if Fibro is the same sort of disease symptoms. Mostly females, a nerve disorder that has no known reason. I have a WBC that is regularly high every day of my life.

I have fibromyalgia some of the conditions are exactly the same all over acute pain often for weeks at a time I cannot leave my bed Iam so weak. My memory is shot to pieces, I cannot retain any information, I have to write everything down. I have completely forgotten how to do many ordinary chores like planning and cooking a meal. With no cure in sight I do the best I can

@@januk7942 I hear you. I hadn't thought my memory issues could be anything other than age but now I wonder. Thanks for that and keep your head up. The only good thing about being at war (against Covid 19) is that medical and other things for the good of mankind get developed as well as that which takes our loved ones from us.

Do your research! As a consumer we have to empower ourselves to take a proactive approach to what we put in our bodies.
'Supplements' are a booming, money sponging scheme. They are not regulated. Most of those sold are completely useless; they tout extraordinary doses that our bodies simply excrete bc we can't absorb them, many vitamins require the presence of other vitamins/minerals in order to absorb or work efficiently within our bodies, quality matters... it's almost criminal what they get away with.
Do your research and learn about what you're putting in your body. Many are perfectly fine and even beneficial but are often more expensive (for good reason).

Leisons on the brain make me think back to the listeria case this show covered in their episode list. Maybe the peak/toxin is more debilitating the more taken over time and is suriving into the drying and purifying process. That or some of that altered bacteria are surviving the drying process due to those gene editing.

Honey they use lethal bacteria in food manufacturing, plastics polymers ,textiles but mainly in foods so yes some mutate some overcome sterilization and so forth, they feek the amount to small, but when that small amount mate with other bacterium...maybe a distant cousin bact. Then illnesses occur and many most never found out they just debilitate then eventually kill

I find it absolutely ridiculous that supplement production remains unregulated in the American continent in general. Many people rely on these products for their health or as sources of alternative medicine.
