The 2023 WBC was a huge turning point for the sport. People will be looking at these guys when they come over to the states and will say, Hey didn't this guy play in the WBC. That's one of the reason why I believed in the WBC.
I'm an American, but I'm a big fan of the NPB and watch more Japanese baseball than MLB these days. I've noticed a lot more English speaking viewers starting to tune in after the WBC. It's really nice to see. There are so many talented players that will make waves in the MLB. 😊
@@glswenson that has a lot more to do with the waive of talent being created there than the WBC. They are basically scouting players for their team lol
agreed to a certain extent, as an American I too watched more Japanese & Korean content then I used too but more because I didn't have much of a choice due to COVID. But I get it. The WBC was pretty awesome and was my first experience with it. So much talent in the baseball world than simply MLB talent. Really hope to see Jung-Hoo Lee end up on the mariners, we need outfielders, we need more contact, and he just seems like a really fun player to watch. Really hoping all these guys have successful transitions to MLB, seems like free agents coming from foreign leagues get better every year

As a Cubs Fan I seriously think or at least hope we got the low key best signing of the offseason with Imanaga. I would not be at all surprised if he turns out to be great.
Aside from his wind up, he reminds me of a prime Tim Lincecum with his approach. Lincecum, in his prime, had a fastball top out at 95. His strikeout pitch was a nasty change up.
@@Dodgers-sw2uk just a shame it suddenly went downhill for him. Still kind of a mystery to me. After those dominant years, he wasn’t good then all of a sudden, throws a no no out of nowhere.
if I recall correctly, his arm fell off & sadly, well maybe not sadly being a Dodgers fan, but rather sadly for the Giants, his effectiveness wore thin & MLB caught up to his new level of stuff. @@Shakester71
I think Lee ends up with the Padres, they need a CF with more upside than Grisham is current bringing, and being able to play with Kim would sweeten the deal methinks.

In the end the Koreans just wanna beat Japan and what better way to do it then send their best player to learn the ways of the NPB first?

Yamamoto is really overshadowing a loaded class. If I had more time I would’ve dove deeper into the other arms, but Imanaga and Lee are also gonna make big money
What about that one starting pitcher in the NPB that played for the Baystars and did pretty well? I think his name was Trevor Bauer or something. Seems like he would do well in the MLB, maybe even be Cy Young worthy.
Jung-hoo Lee is definitely a great defender, but he’s golden glove award is not telling anything about his (or any player in KBO’s) defensive skills. Golden glove award in KBO is more like a Silver slugger award in MLB. This year, the KBO defensive award has been added. Though, I’m pretty sure that he would win the award if he played full-time.
I agree Yamamoto will end up in New York. It’s just a question of who wants to cough up more money. Personally, I believe whichever NY a team doesn’t get Yamamoto will go after Imanaga. Jung Hoo Lee goes to Boston or Chicago
what, Kirk Gibson is in 1988 . Some of us was existent back then . You were not, apparently. No shame, but real history is a good thing. F off with your false narrative.
No doubt this dude is good...but Japan's MLB is quite frankly equal to or just *a little* above MLB's AAA. He'll end up as an overpaid starter for the likes of New York, LA or Ranger/Astros. Good for him but nowhere near the elite pitching "Cy Young" caliber they will pay. Super thin 2023 free agent market puts him well over $100M for someone that will be a #3 starter.
Kodai Senga was posted from NPB and posted a sub 3 era in his rookie season, I think Yamamoto, a significantly more talented and accomplished starter can do something similar
