I am an Angels fan but I am trying not to be biased, I also have family that is Japanese and lives in Japan. However, this guy has probably the best character in all of baseball, he is very humble and kind. He actually cares about others and isn't in it just for the money. He gives most of his tiny contract away to be honest. Angels will probably offer him 40 mil a year for 7 years and he deserves all of it. He is a legend not by his numbers but by his character and grace alone. I wish more baseball players were like him. He is my favorite player and I have so much respect for him, especially since he has so much respect for everyone around him.

The only thing I can see is them not promoting him or making him the face of baseball is the fact he doesn't speak english or speak it well enough at the moment so I can see that negatively affecting his chances on the marketing aspect.

@@Xenlacasa45 I'd agree if he wasn't so injury prone. Shohei was on the field the entire campaign and while Fernando was an MVP finalist his injuries have derailed him so far in his young career.
