Great pickup! I wonder if that’s his phone? It’s hard to see him keeping a cracked iPhone. He’s certainly a minimalist if so. But more likely to just buy another without giving it a thought.
Ichiro usually spoke in English, but he had an interpreter on the official scene. He avoided the lack of nuances and misunderstandings. It's a way to focus on baseball. Shohei Ohtani usually speaks English and sometimes speaks Spanish, but he hires an interpreter for the same reason as Ichiro. Besides, in Japan's NPB, various races such as Dominican, Hispanic, Cuban, Korean, Taiwanese, and American play baseball. Even if they can't speak English or Japanese, they won't be criticized. If they are good at baseball, they will be evaluated.
I mean i guess i appreciate the info but who asked? Why does it matter? Majority of the true elite talents in the mlb speak a different language. There are alot of sports you need to speak specific languages to even play. For instance, ohtani could have the same skills as jerry rice in his prime but wouldnt make a 1st year nfl franchise with a roster filled of undrafted free agents. Skills are no good in football if you cant communicate where and what your doing on every play. Hockey is similar, except language isnt as important. But then again id love to hear how many Japanese born nhl players there are. Basketball he could. Obviously saw yao ming. But again unless your a equipped with god like talent or size an nba team wont spend its resources on a guy that isnt a guranteed slam dunk. Short story long, baseball is awesome because its one of few sports that dont require a specific language. Literally could field a team of 11 guys. Each guy can speak a different language and play in unison like theyve played together for a decade. Ohtani doesnt need to speak English to be a star. He doesnt learn it for the fans. Or for his opponents. Or for more money. He attempts English for himself so he can communicate with his friends. Who happen to be his teammates. He doesnt need to do it. Because he forces any baseball fan to either like him, hate him or if not those, respect him

GQ really on a hot streak with Curry, Ohtani and Salah
For real
GQ had the best 24 hours of their lives lmao. And they might not be done yet 😂
yooo im thinking the same thing... like is it just youtube thats acting up lol
🔥🔥🔥
i think i’m in love with this guy 🫠
He seems real smart, well organized to talk to the topic and what he talks about. And what’s the last part, he’s too cute...😂🥺
Wow, nothing but respect for this man and not one negative comment/dislike. So humble and his love for baseball is so pure.
You really have to admire Japanese culture, so respectful of others and soft spoken, this guy is someone to be admired.
i just wanna be his friend. he seems so sweet and humble
Everything I see about Shohei makes me like him more and more.
Slam Dunk the favorite manga? Jesus christ I love this guy even more now
Ohtani is effortlessly so charming, this guy!!! Great to see more of him after his hiatus
Not only an absolute amazing athlete but he looks like an amazing person!!!!

Look, I’m not a baseball fan, I’ve never watched a baseball game before but this showed up on my recommended page. I dont know why I watched the whole thing. But i love the whole vibes of this interview. He’s very soothing
This guy is just the best. I love when he's saying that "overall", he thinks he's had a good season with the bat... Haha, 45 bombs and a 100 rbis as a pitcher... This guy... Yeah, overall, I think you could say that Shohei. You can now look your sempais in the eyes
Nmm
Ohtani is the reason why I start to watch baseball. By the way, he had 46 HR last year. :)
This comment just cracked me up! 😂
No one is perfect, but everything he has is close to zen. An ambassador. Humility. Driven. A gentle giant. Even humor.
Plus he is the most talented baseball player since Babe Ruth. That will be surpassed pretty soon as well.
We are honored to be in his presence.
I am not a baseball fan, but I want to see Shohei Ohtani win like 5 rings...I love this kid.
idk about 5, maybe like 2
not gonna happen if he stays with the angels
@@crossovo theyve got a shot at it this year, if their rotation stays healthy. especially ohtani and syndergaard.
@@bravozulu0380 *cough*
@@Teootron their rotation did not in fact stay healthy
Not 1 stupid big chain, not 1 ridiculously expensive watch or shoes just simple things that help him live a healthier life. Awesome!!!
Who cares? Weirdo
@@guzzjohnson4282 Apparently you do if you’re going out of way to comment on random strangers opinion.
@@PnoMonies can you explain to me why that is the focus of the video?
@@PnoMonies you got those?
He’s easily my favorite current player.
I love this guy so much. He's still humble & you can see it by the way he is. Looking forward to see him in the near future ❣️
His earning millions but his phone is cracked. What a guy.
Lol hahaha
I also noticed the cracks on the edges! And I'm sure he kept it until those cracks actually impact the function of the phone. Dudes so humble.
Great pickup! I wonder if that’s his phone? It’s hard to see him keeping a cracked iPhone. He’s certainly a minimalist if so. But more likely to just buy another without giving it a thought.
Now that you will be playing for my Dad's favorite team(R.I.P.) The Dodgers I will be watching you more😊
“i think, overall, we had a pretty good season” humble king
Considering they lost Trout mid season and he has no "protection" so to speak i think they did well. But they need more QUALITY pitchers
He is the definition of “baseball is life”
@MrHipHopIsLife
Definitely could see Shohei being like Dani Rojas
He’s literally an Angel. Amazing athlete to boot! ❤
Glad to have this talented young man on the Angels. He's amazing in and out the field, looking forward to his great baseball career.
We've got to keep him happy and sign him to a big, fat contract like Trout. Hopefully, he doesn't become fragile like Trout.
This man is a treasure. Earth is lucky to have him
How can you not love this guy?
I agree.
Because he forces any baseball fan to either like him, hate him or if not those, respect him
@@lawrencehackett6479 wow
Shohei Ohtani barley speaks English?
Well he’s Ohtani, no Ichiro.
@@lawrencehackett6479 I mean I guess I appreciate the information but who asked?
This dudes items reflect his commitment. This ain't just him being humble, this is commitment to self-care when most would just want to show off to others with all their money and fame.
Truly the G.O.A.T. NO ONE has hit and pitch at the same time to the level he is doing it. I hope people realize they are seeing something truly historic.
What a beautiful person.
Love this dude so much, I go out of my way to make sure I see him perform live, never done that for any other baseball player.
No fancy watches here. Just all about wellness, conditioning and baseball. That's why he's the GOAT.
How can you not love this guy
He's such a simple man, and effortlessly cool
Shohei is out of this world, not driven by money but slays everytime. He's also having glowup as he matures. Looks like a model and phenomenal athlete. Hardwork really does pay off. Salute!
Well now the mystery is solved what makes this man a superstar. His whole life is dedicated to his craft. So much respect, SHOHEI! 🙌🏼⚾️
he's so good playing baseball that I started watching again after like 30 years of not watching it.
Nicest guy ever .
Very humble things he shared. The only flex is unseen, which is his stats. Looking forward to 2022 with you, Sho-kun 💖💖
