Lol obviously it stayed the helm of alien and aliens with lots of Easter eggs not to mention both Prometheus and covenant were just presposterous 😅 if it ain't broke don't fix it, fede Alvarez is the true Messiah of horror
Higher population, easier access to media with modern communication systems, inflation... I see the positives because it shows that there is still a huge fan base and an incredible demand for the Alien franchise. It'll make getting projects given investments easier. It's down to us to call out the good and the bad.
I hate what they did with the franchise, including the Prometheus movies. The huge lack of creativity shows and it's all just complete re-rushing with no respect to the origin material(s) and just brainless re-using of former material. I know that Hollywood is weird in it's use of rights, payments of (former) scripts, and contracts with movies that make a huge mess. But even then. Romulus was just a complete re-hash mixture of all Alien movies. Especially Alien Ressurrection. The even dumber awkward and very cringe 'offspring' as just a copy on the 'newborn'. The use of the vial injection to make a 'alien baby' just like Shaw had in Prometheus by an 'evil' android. The experiments on the creature(s) just like in Resurrection. The Facehuggers in 'lab' boxes/glasses just like in Alien 2. The abandoned station just like the abandoned colony on LV-426 (Hadley's hope). Literally re-introducing Ash. Making the female protagonist have literal same carbon-copy scenes as Ripley in Alien2 with the elevator vs Queen and xenos in the hive. Even 'you bish' by Andy was just too cringe. The use of the space station like in 'Isolation' is forgiven, because that was a wonderful game that deserves/d a movie reproduction. The bursting from the chest like in the original Alien on the lunchroom table. The Colonial Marines gun. Even the black goo from Promeheus just had to be in there. The scene of the offspring 'eating' its 'mother' was like the Neomorph eating the human's decapitated body from Covenant. It was a huge, huge deception because the movie had so much more potential if it was just written slightly better. The usage of Ash is 'neutral' imho, i think it just looks too faked on. They should have actually made Rook have a different face, but actually be Ash as it would be Ash's chip recovered from the Nostromo wreckage remains. Recovering data saved by MU/TH/UR and Ash. Somehow having the 'Prometheus' history in there is interesting, and the obsession with the black goo 'accelerant', without making it weird. Hell, there was a perfect way in making the company look less evil: They could have let Rook (ASH) say that Peter Weyland went out on the Prometheus Mission to find a cure to human diseases and even aging, but as they did they did not only encounter parasitic Alien lifeforms, but bioweapons made by humanoid Lifeforms believed to be even related to mankind. And that that knowledge has brought fear, that we are outgunned, outpowered, and outplayed by a terrible, evil, far more advanced Alien race, which we stand no chance to in beating or surviving, and many other civizations must have perished, and that only by the grace of luck or terrible accident, we are still breathing, and that the only way for mankind's guaranteed survival is not just to spread to other places and hide from them, but we need weapons on their own level, in order to even stand a chance. 'We need these aliens'. It's not a case about whether it's safe. It's not a case about whether we know what we're doing or dealing with. It's a matter of not having a chance. Just 1 of these things massacred a whole crew, survived in space, and now is bringing havoc on this station. There may be a terrible price for few to pay, in order to save many, well, everything. Instead, they made a cheap rerun rushed together and hyped.

Riddley Scott doesn't like the idea of the Queen. The alien-human hybrid in this one at least links the Prometheus movie to the main Alien franchise better than Covenant did. The baby starts by looking human, then it takes engineer traits since humans were made from engeneer dna. Then it starts developing xenomorph traits like the tail.

All those suits at Weyland Yutani in the debriefing scene where they’re grilling Ripley for destroying company property all look to be under the age of 57 (how long Ripley was drifting in space) So they probably weren’t even born when the company tasked Ash with acquiring the alien in the first movie and covering it all up, and therefore had no idea about Ripley or the events that transpired. They most likely allowed the salvage team to bring her shuttle in because it’s older Weyland-Yutani tech and they wanted to know where it came from, what happened, etc and then ended up with this big mess on their hands when Ripley started pointing fingers at them (hence their surprise) It was the company bosses who were alive during the first movie who would’ve wanted the whole Nostromo incident kept quiet. It was a nuclear explosion 💥 meaning nothing left or the force of the explosion should have sent debris if even so far apart especially in space 🌌
Everything in the movie but the mood was so preposterous that I still wonder myself how it could be a the biggest success out of all alien movies yet box theater wise.
Lol obviously it stayed the helm of alien and aliens with lots of Easter eggs not to mention both Prometheus and covenant were just presposterous 😅 if it ain't broke don't fix it, fede Alvarez is the true Messiah of horror
More fans today than when the original films came out. Niche has become mainstream.
Have you accounted for inflation?
Higher population, easier access to media with modern communication systems, inflation... I see the positives because it shows that there is still a huge fan base and an incredible demand for the Alien franchise. It'll make getting projects given investments easier. It's down to us to call out the good and the bad.
neat
This is what Romulus should have been. Instead we got Alien Franchise: the best bits.
Such a letdown of a comic.
What a paint-by-numbers cash grab ..
The big chap floating in space sounds ridiculous to me. A better plot would have been someone getting impregnated with a royal face hugger.
It's better vs alien resurrection that's for sure lmao not to mention Prometheus and covenant very ridiculous for those movies
@@rnldmanuel88 The idea Big Chap could survive isn't ridiculous, but the execution in this movie certainly was.
@@RoaryUK no it is ridiculous asf. Floating out of space for that long cut the crap. Anyways big chap was at the dying stage towards the end of alien 1979.
@@rnldmanuel88Your comment is stupid
Royal facehggers are stupid, just make a xenomorph molt into a queen
What happened before alien romulus?? The first movie alien..😂😂😂
lol🤣
The comic was unnecessary IMO. Rook pretty much tells everything. I enjoyed the movie, but I hated that they brought Big Chap back just to be easily killed like that. Ripley is the one who beat him.
The comic was a huge disappointment for me. It shed light on nothing that wasn't covered in the movie. I wasn't expecting much other than it being acknowledged how they found it.
Why do they all have to include some gimpy alien-human hybrid! Always felt it defeats the purpose of the Queen.
@ yeah, fully get why and understand but I’ll take the first two films over the rest of the garbage 😅. Romulus could’ve been a great film to the originals, but had to include nostalgia bait so obvious and then the gimpy human hybrid.
@@sasquash8709 The only bits I didn't like were the too obvious callback lines and the weird floating acid hallway. Like really you shoot aliens and the blood burst out but it just clumps around and float there without touching anything? the xenomorph bodies vanished too. And CGI Ash was not very well done but I did like the idea of seeing the same model android.
@@chamoo232 What was more questionable is why is Rook (the Ash model android) on screen so much. They could have done less direct shots, such as using video screens. As the filter hides the bad CGI better.
Or just use practical effect like Bishop in Alien 3, as they were both damaged.
@@KSmithwick1989 I saw some behind the scenes and they did have a practical effect Rook puppet. His movement looks very limited so they enhanced his facial animation with CGI and it gives the result we see. But I agree that it's weird we saw him so much. In particular how he was just randomly put on a desk but somehow perfectly lined up to facetime people for the rest of the movie.
Man why trust rook
Love how Alien movie comic and games are linked one way or another. They make or try all to be canon.
I cannot express how much I hated Romulus.
romulus is the first 3D printed alien movie🤢
This comic book has a better story than the movie.
If they took out Ridley Scott’s Big Bad Black Goo, the movie would’ve still worked. The whole hybrid thing was just too much cringe.
Sure, if you ignore the multiple potholes and how boring it is
Not a very good story
Neither is your mom 👩 😕
@@XenomorphTerrorohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
@@XenomorphTerror oh kitten...
Before that terrible but awesome movie
such a lame and uncreative story
So many butt hurt people over a solid new alien film, blaming corporate greed or whatever. But the film was made as a homage to the franchise by a fan.
It's a fan film no doubt, that's not a compliment by the way.
It's boring plot hole filled shit loved by simpletons
the first 3/4 of the movie was better than i thought it would be. was pretty interesting until the final bit. it just turned out real stupid.
Christ people need to stop celebrating this average movie. YES it an actual Xenomorph but it added NOTHING to what was already told. This IP was done after ALIENS. Now it’s copy+paste after copy + paste.
Nah I appreciate the flick for being what it is instead of a pretentious movie about philosophy that has extremely little to do with alien, I’ll take Romulus over that convoluted garbo
The sad thing about the fate of the original Alien in Romulus, is that it now renders the whole climax of AILEN completely redundant.
Not necessarily. Ripley blew it out of the airlock. The death of the original xenomorph was never really confirmed
Thats the Godaym Airlock lol
would appear to have been a far superior movie than the bullshit one we got once you can accept they found an alien drifting through the vacuum of space but couldnt find ripley in a space pod for 60 years....
They didn't want to find Ripley. Hence why she was left to drift for decades only to get discovered by a random salvage crew through sheer luck.
@@jimmyrussells what makes you think they didn't want to find her? The moment the company found her they charged her with blowing up their ship. There's no reason for them to not find her on purpose and then act surprised 60 years later. You understand people would be dead, right? Makes no sense.
@@aaronmichael2619 the part in Alien (1979) where the company orders said “crew expendable”.
They most likely allowed the salvage team to bring her shuttle in because it’s older Weyland-Yutani tech and they wanted to know where it came from, what happened, etc and then ended up with this big mess on their hands when Ripley started pointing fingers at them (hence their surprise)
It was the company bosses who were alive during the first movie who would’ve wanted the whole Nostromo incident kept quiet. (Ie. let the sole survivor drift into the void) and as far as they knew, they succeeded. After acquiring the alien in Romulus and building the Renaissance research station they probably never imagined a scenario where Ripley ended up being found alive in their lifetimes.
They did find her. Her escape pod is visible in the station and it's seen "falling" out when the station if being torn by the asteroid belt. They just never bothered waking her and it explains why she was lost for 57 years.
do palisady prąszę po polsku pisać w internecie trzciąnką polską
They really should have released this before the movie. Only the nerds would read it in the first place
Fr, I rather want to watch more screentime of big chap causing havoc once again in the movie, cuz seeing him returns from the first movie was insane, and I even like big chap even more, but they have to done dirty to my boy like that in the movie
Why does every alien story have to feature a manly chic? Lame
I mean it’s been part of the franchise since aliens
If you think that's lame, you think Aliens is lame?
Its the world/future/star system.
Most women and men in the alien franchise are either miners, scientist or marines. But growing up in a weyland yutani system could influence the attitude of the women
Ce film est nul .... pathétique....alien et les teenagers....c est réchauffé et encore réchauffé....c est bon pour la poubelle cette fois
The likeness for the Ian Holm character looks bad. This comic looks like it was slapped together in a day.
The original 1979 comic adaptation of ALIEN had much better likenesses for the actors.
The whole story was terrible.
not the best story and it lead to a pretty crap movie if you think about anything in it
That was a weak story with wasted potential
Everything was just fine before Romulus, but the money-hungry executives wanted to launder their money, so they gave us this shit of a movie that added nothing to the story.
"Everything was just fine before Romulus" wtf? Nothing was fine! Alien 3, 4, Prometheus, covenant.. what about this crap movies is exactly fine?
On the other hand we have Romulus now. Not a Master class, but the third best Alien movie in the franchise because of how bad are Alien 3, 4, Prometheus and covenant.
@ calm down Mary.
A hole in a space station, brought it all down? Really stupid. The whole movie was poorly done. It reeks of the same editing problems that alien3 had. I had a laundry list of problems with the story. It’s the worst one yet. The last act with the new alien hybrid was great. There were some great scenes.
This comic was terribly written, near fan-fiction levels of bad. I DO always appreciate your videos, and the fact you covered it though!
Featuring the younger Boss and Naked Snake.
lol good one
