You never cease to amaze me Rik those look fantastic , my hubby will love this , no garlic mayo on mine , who knew you could make doner meat at home 🤯thank you as always 🙌Amanda xx
I love donor's I've not made donor meat before. That looks brilliant! I used to make falafel years ago a Middle Eastern friend gave me some recipes, I made them from scratch, they had Bulgar, or burghal..some spell it. You'd know what I mean. When I moved I lost 2 large boxes one had some recipes in it. If you could let us know how to make Falafel I'd be ever so grateful 😊 Fantastic Rik, thanks for this! Here's a beer or two for ya matey 🍺🍺🍺
What are you doing to me Rik🤪. Mouth watering at this moment. I should think the smell is out of this world😋. And a new to me gadget, not as expensive as the oven lol. Thank you, and have a good weekend 🤗
Lovely stuff Rikmeister👌haven't had a kebab in years. I always used to get the mixed kebab on naan. Kebab meat and chicken tikka and lashings of chilli sauce😋👌
Awesome stuff! I got a ton of sauce recipes for takeaways from a recipe book I got years ago. Heres a couple Mint yogurt sauce 3 tablespoons natural yogurt 1/3 teaspoon mint sauce 2 teaspoons smooth mango chutney 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice Mix it up and keep it in the fridge to chill for about an hour before using Special chilli sauce 200ml of tomato ketchup 1 teaspoon mint sauce 75-100ml of water 1 large tomato, chopped 1 small onion, chopped 1 red pepper, chopped 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 5 tablespoons of tinned mixed fruit cocktail Blend everything but use 75ml of the water. Blend till smooth. Add a bit more of the water if you want it thinner. Stick it in the fridge for a few hours to chill before using. The flavour will improve overnight
Rik I’m feeling rather proud of myself today, I have made your kebab a few times and it’s delicious, I have just made your pitta breads to go with your kebab for lunch tomorrow with my son, it’s a celebration lunch for his new job 😊
Hi Rik I made this last night and it was delicious, quick and easy to make and far superior to any kebab I’ve had and I know exactly what’s in it, will definitely make again… Thanks as ever 😊
2 pitta kebabs with everything on please Uncle Rik? I love a kebab, or 2, or 3, or 4 hahahaha. I’ve never made my own donner meat, but I’m definitely going to after this Rik. Looks amazing. These are so satisfying xx
Oh man! I can't believe I'm seeing this! And here YOU ARE with an easy, reasonable recipe for the whole 9 yards and than some! Thanks a million for your time, easy going manners and encouragements. 👍👍👍👍❤❤💐🥂 Not that it matters, but I haven't have Donaire in over 30 years + (the place was busy as a beehive but it closed down, and no place any place near me. Recipes I've found looked too complicated so I forgot about it until now).
I've been watching a lot of cooking shows and the main thing to rest the meat and as a person who had to cook early on it was never really taught to me but I'm glad that I've matured somewhat in my early senior years better last than never well not by mom but dad did mention it to me and I started but now it's much better
Top darts once again chef. I'll be smashing this one out on August BHoliday. Beautifully made and inspiring to have a go chefs like myself. added bonus being we know what is in there rather than getting pished up and eating one from gawd knows where not knowing what the heck is in there and how long it has been there. 😀
I don’t know where you find the time for daily posts, you are a star. Your wife is a lucky lady having you cook every day, I get tied up in the “what shall I cook for dinner” malarkey. Thankfully your videos have been a life saver in that respect but me and the Mr are losing the battle of the bulge 😆.
Cheers Rik I made my own before many years ago when I had a bar, they were a big hit but hard work once demand increased. I even made my own pickled banana chillies! I found that here in sin city the so called authentic doner kebabs are only part lamb the rest being minced chicken or beef which is a shame. Yours look great and I'll be giving them a try as soon as the weather cools down a bit. Thanks again.
This sounds so scrumptious! (although the term "doner" meat gives my American brain some disquiet 😄 I 'm glad I learned the Turkish origin of the term: rotating, not like the incident in the pass in the Sierra Nevadas)

Hi Rick, another great video. I'm just back from the UK and my waist shows I've enjoyed the usual suspects (Indian, Chinese and Turkish foods 😅) that I miss since living in Australia. I'm going to have a crack at this and your Pitas. One thing they do in the UK where I was in Yorkshire (Donny) was a thick tomatoey chilli sauce on their kebabs. Do you have a recipe anywhere for it?
I have never heard of doner meat, why is it called that specifically? usa Looks yummy, here our kebabs are cubes of meat and veggie pieces on skewers usually grilled.
The term "doner" comes from the Turkish word döner, which means "rotating" or "turning." This refers to how the meat is traditionally cooked on a vertical rotisserie, where it slowly turns as it roasts, allowing the outer layer to cook evenly. Slices are then shaved off as needed, creating the signature thin, flavourful strips of meat we associate with doner kebabs. The method of cooking and the name have roots in Ottoman cuisine and have spread worldwide, making "doner" synonymous with this delicious kebab style. Thank you. Best, Rik
i Rik sorry if its been mentioned but can you freeze the doner meat or would you not advise it I,ve just got to make myself this recipe it looks awesome 😋
You made an interesting tomato sauce. I prefer a good chilli sauce. I've never made a good one. as a future idea, I'd like you to show how to make a great chilli sauce. Something that is great with kebab or for dipping chips into.
Thanks for showing how to make a doner kebab loaf. I live in the US now and all I can get (if I'm willing to travel is German doners) I must admit, in all my time of eating doner kebabs, I''ve never had one with a fully sliced pita. They just cut the top to make a pocket. Also, I've never seen garlic mayo offered. I just order one as is with chilli sauce.
Gday Rik, forgive my ignorance but I’m wondering whether those spice measurements are teaspoons as written (tsp) or are they actually tablespoons as it looks like more than teaspoons-worth on the video (?) thanks heaps for all your work!
Oh will try this, have to admit last while i've been very lazy and used the Polish brand Prymat kebab-gyros seasoning instead of mixing my own into the recipe but it has ALOT of salt.
Oh my God! Yum. Absolutely looks delicious , and I want one. At least one. 😂.
I would gladly make for you. Thank you. Best, Rik
