You have spent so much time over so many years to become the expert that you are. I applaud you for your dedication. I have followed you for a long time and seen how much you and your knowledge has grown. You are the reason I have added console repairs in my retirement. Use to only do TVs and computer motherboards. I respect you beyond words.
Brilliant videos and very informative! I’ve called play station today told them about my console that won’t turn on but makes a beep. After I updated it this happened. But they insist it’s the hardware and say I need to pay 210, for them to send out a refurbished ps5. What the heck! This is expensive. They don’t even give me a chance to explain my point and assume it’s my fault.
You inspire me to follow my dream to become an electronics engineer. Where do I start? What courses would you recommend? Thank you for all the great content!
Thanks for a series of extremely educational videos! But I'm a little disturbed by the bottle of flammable isopropanol (1000 ml?) on the table. The bottle of isopropanol I often have standing by my amateur soldering workplace is made of metal (30 ml). I immediately put the metal cap on after using it..
Hey The Cod3r, i have a question. Every ps5 repair youtuber that uses UART shows the code and usually its your name on there that updated it. How much time do you think you have spent putting error codes into UART? I have never seen anyone elses names on there.
There is one thing I would like to know is why do so many ps5's go faulty, because all I see you and many others on TH-cam fault fixing them? Could give your explanation or your thoughts on why they go faulty on your next video or post on TH-cam, I would really like to know, many thanks 1234 cabling.
I’m not an electronics engineer, however there are a couple of things you have to factor in. You’re always going to get a certain percentage of failure rate on anything. And as far as I’m aware, Sony isn’t going to release that figure to the public. Also I personally think that some consoles are stuck in say, cupboards or let’s say poorly ventilated areas for extended periods of time. Some people hammer their PS5 and turn off all the power saving features, so it’s running almost constantly. So, not exactly a healthy environment. Should it fail, probably not, but electronics do fail. The only product I can compare with your original question. So, I have been buying MacBook and iPhone right around 2007. I have not have one phone, iMac or MacBook (I bought tons of them for my graphics design business) go bad, only had a single key on my keyboard on my MacBook that needed fixing. Yet, you have Louis Rossman who’s a great electronics tech and that’s all he fixes. Failed Apple products, and there are many like him which makes it look MacBooks are failing or iPhones, But wait, Iv never had any Apple kit fail on me, and I dont give them any special treatment plus I have bought over 30 machines/phones personally. Then you have the element of…if you’re watching a lot of board repair guys like this doing mainly consoles, the ps5 is the latest so the most money to be made, if you can fix them and get them going. They stop bring good money used. Hope that made sense!
Great vid as usual Phil..... An ohh yhh don't forget to give your dentist a couple grams of the liquid metal...he's Guna need that for your next visit to him 💯👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
funny thing about PS5 disk drives... both my and my sons PS5's disk drives were dead out of the box, like they never worked. I had mine untouched, unopened in the box like 11 months and 3 weeks, and the thing had 12m warranty... luckily Sony made it good. Kid got his as a Chistmas present at the mom's, and it too didnt work and had to be send to warranty repair.

You connected the disk drive with the power on at 32 odd mins in. You're good at explaining what and why you're doing it. +1 subcriber

Wouldn't have forgot the mic if you were fixing this on a live ha !
Do you think that this is down to bad design or that Sony has opted to go with sub standard capacitors for all these cap failures?
good positive outlook not bad for 80 quid , ya can sell it to pu back in the business nice one mukka

You should buy bent pin high end motherboards watching Linus's new video apparently lol.
So how much are you getting for your rebuilt PS5 Consoles?
I have one doing the same and has some blown caps at the ethernet port on the back I need to find the value of.

My PS5 has the exact same problem as this and I can't find the short anywhere..

As a youtuber, do you have to be good talking to yourself considering your le talking to a camera? Ive always thought that.
@TheCod3r
I did your steps but when I choose my my port nothing is happening. Could it be because of a bad southbridge?
