I recently picked up Alpaka’s tech case mini, which advertises that it can kinda also function as a sling, and includes a strap. I bought it only be to used as a tech case, and figured the sling option would feel kinda tacked on… but I gotta say, it fits/functions pretty darn well as a sling. The strap is super-minimal, no buckle for detaching it or anything like the vertical pouch, but the case itself is so light that it’s not a big deal, and the pocketing/zipper situation works really well in sling mode. Totally an option if you mainly want a tech pouch but like the idea of it doubling as a sling on a trip. Alpaka is sneakily killing it with these sorts of pouches/slings - love the feel and design and function.
Just a note for viewers that that Peak Design sling is actually the 6L, not the 10L. The 10L doesn't have the side stretch pockets and significantly larger. You can actually see at 8:18 the 6L designation on the inside of the bag
You are the reason I bought Aer's Tech Sling 2. It's a perfect coffee shop companion. The bag is big enough to warrant some ventilation & I hope the next iteration offers some along with a step up for the internal materials & colors. If for some reason it doesn't get updated, I'm thrilled I got in on it.
If they update this and give it just a *touch* more room for a 14” laptop, I’m in. The extra capacity and function of the Travel Sling 2 isn’t worth the extra $ to me - I want a bag just like this at under $100, I just sadly need it to fit my dumb work laptop.
@@j.b.1903 I just bought the Travel Sling 2 at the holiday sale to use as a personal item for work travel and around town. :) I have to take two laptops for these trips, and while my Nomatic travel backpack offers appropriate protection, I get tired of the weight and lack of quick access in that bag. Easily my most redundant bag purchase, but I don't have any regrets.
I very NEARLY bought it during the sale too! But had to prioritize other stuff since I already have the NIID R0 Radiant chest bag which I also just bought recently. But damn, this channel makes me go for more slings 😂
i bought my nephew the alpaka vertical from your link and he loves it but he can't just leave it anywhere for fear of getting stolen because it really looks luxe.
I love slings, I went a little crazy this year and tried at least 13 of them in various sizes. For travel they are great. My current travel one is an xpac tomtoc e21 which is about the same size at that evergoods one. I’d have picked up the evergoods in sage, but the strap length was a little short for me to wear on the chest, and I’m not fully committed to fanny style waist carry yet lol.
Aer tech sling 2 or Aer Day Pack 2 for EDC? All I bring everyday are my laptop, keyboard, mousepad and mouse setup with maybe some earbuds, power bank, and sunscreen. How's the comfort between the Tech Sling Vs the Day Pack?
It’s my fav sling of the year and I still haven’t gotten to do a full review on it yet. Check out the Rushfaster channel - in one of their newest videos I am one of the guests and I talk about this sling and give sort of a mini-review
As someone who just bought my first Alpaka pouch, I can definitely recommend. I got the tech case mini (very similar product), and the look and feel and function are all great. Similar heft and build quality to Aer’s products, but Alpaka’s just feel a bit better to me when it comes to bags at this small size (not sure I can explain why tho!).
You're spot on with the evergoods. I own the Evergood CPL24, and I can't believe its 24 liters. I can fit 3 thin laptops (2 with sleeve). 1 10 inch tablets. Two laptop accessories pouches. 1 jeans, 1 shirt. 3 passport. 2 short stabilizers for my recurve bow. And other small knickknacks. I also have the Peak Design 6L. Its great but I would trade it for an Alpaka Bravo, as it fits my use case with organization pockets and a key leash (plus the HUB ecosystem)
What do u think about brand "pacsafe"? C's ive been looking at it for long time but still in doubt for get their products, do u have recommendation for a good slings in terms of security, thankyou!
Bellroy Products are my personal favourites every time. Got the Bellroy Sling Mini and loved using it on Vacay. But my strip before I used my Girlfriends Bellroy Lite Sling in Arcade Grey and it was a joy to use and held a bit more stuff than my Mini.
@@Nomads.Nation The only downside for the small HP sling is the front pocket kinda useless. It supposed to be for sunglasses. But sadly it’s too small. Otherwise, it’s a perfect sling IMO.
Quick question for you do you have a recommendation for a simple book bag I was looking at the Aer go pack 2 for it but was wondering if you knew anything for like a simple book and or maybe a tablet
Check out the Alpaka Metro Backpack and Able Carry 13 - both are very small and high quality but also give you a bit more space in case you need to pack more gear
At least here in America, Boundary Supply’s shipping takes forever and their customer service is really unhelpful. I ordered their Errant sling (which seems like a good travel item) and Errant Pro backpack but they’ve been giving me the run around with emails. A month later, I still don’t have any tracking info. The estimate was 8-16 days! Thanks for the video guys, it was helpful and well made as usual. Just wanted to warn anybody considering BS
Yes historically Boundary has not had great customer support, which we were told they were working on. My one thing to say is that it’s the holiday season, so there’s a good chance they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. But a month and no tracking info is no ok… please keep us posted!
I love Aer quality, but the comfort they are one of the works. Over weight, and not as comfortable as lot of reviews say. I got Travel Sling 2 and it is one of the worst.
@@Nomads.Nation Not only, for example, Tech Pack 3 is over weight as well, and when you put even just one laptop in side it feels like 10kg. Main compartment is super tight for everyday use, and it is getting very frustrating to use, shoulder pads are well padded but if you want to use it on one shoulder only, it never stays there always slides down, no grip at all. City Sling 2 - is also weird to use, you wont be able to let it stay front of you on the chest, always slides down. front pocket I don't understand, why they have bottom smaller than top. Again quality is perfect, I am not saying anything the build and everything. But the comfort side, Aer products are to over priced. The best bag that Aer has in my opinion is Go Pack 2, I love this bag. I am using it for everything. Rest is questionable.
It’s not here, but I own the X-PAC Aer Travel Sling 2, and if you know you’re sensitive to pain from straps, do not buy it. I can’t recommend this thing to anyone. I used it to carry my laptop while in Japan, and I’ve never been in so much pain from a bag. I own a 14-inch MBP.
Are you talking about the strap irritating one’s skin? Or back/shoulder pain from the carry? If the latter, I totally get it - I bought a similar sling as a minimal-carry-but-fits-a-14-inch-laptop option for work, and I’m at the point where I feel like, if you’re carrying a laptop for any appreciable amount of time, you kinda need a two-strap situation to avoid back pain. One strap eventually gives me back/shoulder pain with that amount of weight, and I’m not sure there’s a way around it. The only partial solution I’ve found-and this is main reason I went with the sling I did over the Aer Travel Sling-is to get a sling that allows you to switch which side you carry on. Kinda helps mitigate the pain after a couple days in a row carrying on one side. I guess you can kinda do it with the Aer by going one-strap-backpack style rather than crossbody, but the shape of the padding and the fixed end point of the strap prevents it from being carried across the other shoulder; the one I got allows the end point to switch sides, which does help things a bit. But yeah, maybe I just haven’t found the perfect sling bag yet, but I’m kinda feeling like it might be backpack-or-back pain when we’re talking about a laptop.
If you truly want the perfect sling / pack / bag / wearables that have all the features you like including size, color, quality of materials and features - then take the time to learn how to make your own, from scratch. It amazes me how few men do not know even the most fundamental skills of sewing, yet take pride in their ability to use shop tools. Trust me, the basic skillset is the same, and you will gain an absolutely invaluable skill.
more people learning how to sew their own bags would be very cool! But I'd say it would take years of fulltime experience to develop a skillset to match the level of many of the bags we review as they are developed and sewn by the top talent in the world. But for more basic bags, you can def learn how to sew your own relatively easily
Amazing how you managed to gather a bunch of slings that have no dedicated watter bottle holder, which is one of the essential things to have on a sling. Garbage.
