    I have the matador refraction backpack in "white" and I absolutely love it. The elastic pockets are amazing and for 16L it carries a lot. I mostly use for beach, gym and for walking around cities when I'm traveling. On another noteI, the lack of a back panel makes it uncomfortable if you have big bulky items laying right behind your back. I also have to say that the white color gets dirty easily but I just wash it on the washer machine and air dry it, it cleans mostly everything.
    I'm currently considering to buy the aer go 2 for a lite weight that can carry a lapotp and add more comfort.

    great overview. I have been using the Aer go pack as my daily pack around town, i have many (too many) other options, fully featured backpacks in many sizes but this Aer is excellent. For me it is also their best product (including the very robust materials). An absolute winner (it has also been on a multi-month trip on several continents as a second bag for the daily small items and it is great to have. It also holds an amazing amount of stuff. I added a sternum strap from an other bag which helps stabilise it when on my bicycle…

    Dang, even as someone from Utah I had not realized until now just how many great backpack brands are from here including brands like Cotopaxi and Black Diamond, that is awesome! On top of these I also love the REI flask 18 or 22 packs and the Cotopaxi Batac but my favorite for urban/tech use is the Aer Go Pack. 2

    Another vote to get a review of Waterfield's packable, which I just picked up. IMHO, there are two distinct kinds of packs here: those that fold into themselves (i.e., a tiny pouch), and those that you simply lay flat on the bottom (or top) of a larger pack or suitcase. I've always loved the idea of the ones that fold into pouches because they're usually (but not always) lighter and they also seem more versatile (e.g., you could even put one in a sling--or a large coat pocket). The problem with virtually all of these "pouch packs" is that they're so damn wrinkled when you unpack them. As far as I can tell, by developing their own fabric, Waterfield is the only company that's avoided that problem. It's pretty miraculous. Its one downside, though, is no sleeve for a laptop, even just a tiny one against the back of the main compartment. Just about any laptop will fit, but it won't sit against your back unless you pack it out the right way. But as far as packs that look like nice, "real" packs but are also fully collapsible, Waterfield seems to be the only one that can pull it off. Great professional look, too--and great water resistance. Love to see a review.

    The Fjallraven High Coast Tote is another good packable option. It is pretty light and can be worn as a backpack too.

    Although it’s not as light and packable as the others, I ultimately decided on getting the Aer Go Pack. It’s the “no compromises” option for me, as it behaves pretty much as a normal backpack when in use. I even used it as my only bag for shorter trips.

    I cary the Venture Backpack on all my trips. Good for the beach or bopping around town but light weight. Then if I am over weight on my luggage I just throw extra stuff in it.

    @nomads.nation, thanks for the video, Aaron! Which of these hang the best on your back? I find that without putting something with significant weight in the bottom of the bag, the Matador and Osprey bags hang sort of strangely.

  • @Fnantier
    @Fnantier 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What would you say is the smallest pack you would / one should pack an Air Go Pack 2 in? I suppose an Aer Travel Pack 3 would be fine; but is 35 L the limit? would the Aer Travel Pack 3 Small (28L) be too small? How about the Able Carry Max (30L)?

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Go Pack is very compressible so it can probably be folded up even into a small sling bag, so any of these travel bags will work

      @@Nomads.Nation Thanks for the info, very good to know!
      One last thing about this: I'm still considering Aer Go Pack 2 (20L), Bellroy Lite Ready Pack (18L) and Matador Refraction Packable Backpack (16L) to pack into a Bellroy Lite Travel Pack 30L. I'm guessing you'd go for the Aer? That's what I'm leaning towards. But I want to buy a lighter one, just one case. Between the Bellroy and Matador, what would you choose?
