This is gonna be really bad, but he’s like really tall you realise you’re probably gonna have really talking. How do you By the way, really love the bag, really love the ideas of the packing. I’m so sorry about the most inappropriate stuff forgive me
I want to see your husband packing. I 6’5 find it hard to believe he can pack everything in that back. I have a 50 liter bag and show alone take up so much space.
Excellent vid! Since this fits under seat it can be considered a personal item correct? I have essentially the same bag for my personal in addition to my carryon roller 😮 2 weeks in Italy soon!
As a business traveler (2-3 weeks at a time, suits etc). I really appreciate you suggesting under the seat for this kind of traveler. I always check in my suitcase and a small rucksack for laptop etc. if everyone travelled like you or like I do. There would be no fight for the overhead storage.
Yes, everyone packing in this manner would reduce the fights about overhead bins, but why should everyone be forced to travel like this? They're cramming us in so tightly, now, that each passenger isn't even guaranteed a spot for a suitcase. It's ridiculous! We're paying a fortune. We deserve enough space for our shoulders, our legs, and a suitcase.
I just try to get in the plane first and put my bags up so I can have leg room. So the extra I pay for preferred boarding is worth not learning these things.
I save my oldest underwear (has holes), socks, bras, and clothes. When I travel I wear them and throw them out. This leaves space for "treasues" on my return home trip. I also leave my toiletries before going home.
Me too! I bring crappy beach sandals, & usually after 2 weeks of swimming, sand, sun & chlorine I chuck out my 2 tankini sets I bring as well. I leave or dispose of things to lighten my load on the way home. 😊
I do the same thing. In my check-in suitcase, I pack the amount left of regular size Lysol spray, regular size body lotion, face wash, face cream and sunscreen, toothpaste, and mouth wash. I toss them in the trash once they empty or leave them in the room if there is a little bit left.
Good job on the clothing combinations, I’ll need to use that this summer…. I have used the neck pillow hack a few times. I used neck pillow from MUJI. This hack works best with light scarfs, packable light down jackets from Uniqlo or wind jacket. Try rolling wide and curving and stuffed like a long pillow filling into the neck pillow cover. It feels like a true neck pillow which I have used on the plane. Never fill the pillow with too many complicated pieces or anything visible under the security screen or else, they might need to ask u to open the pillow for inspection. When it’s too cold on the plane, take the thin down jacket out and keep my body warm. I also pack a slim empty thermos on the side of the backpack. Fill it up after security so that I have water anytime I want. Also, I did bring old undies, socks, toothbrush, worn out cosmetic brushes etc. and dispose of them at the end of the trip. About toiletries, I used couple of contact lenses storage cases to fill the numerous lotion, cleanser, cream, suntan lotion, mosquitoes repellent, toner and labeled them on the cover. These cases are supposed to hold contact lens solution and won’t spill! After the trip, easily washable and waste only a little residue. I do think that nowadays, we need an electronics packing cube to store adapters, cables, power banks, headphones, travel wall plug, etc. My objective is to pack light and efficient, not to aim at putting the bag to sacrifice any leg room though…. But if it ended up needed to be on the floor, I usually fold n pack a thin plastic bag which can wrap the whole backpack to be put on the filthy floor…. And can be dispose of after the flight.
FLIERS BEWARE! Just flew Southwest( June 5, 2024)that neck pillow now counts as an additional item. You can now only have your carry on and personal item while boarding the plane, all other items with the exception of food we purchased at the food court and outerwear (ex. Jacket or sweater) were required to be in either your carry on bag or personal item. Of course this could change again, but as of now is the current rule for at least Southwest.
So… what I always do is wear a big fluffy sweater or packs me jacket and take with me a bag of some kind. Once on board the outerwear goes in the bag and that’s my pillow (if your intent is to get a pillow rather than to bring extra clothes this can be a workaround)
Great tips. Good belt tip is don’t pack curled up, but have it run flat around the edge of your clothing. Pack socks inside shoes. Just a thought for personal items on floor- it’s not always clean. Once could not work out why my white shirt was red and sticky- my bag had gone from floor to lap- clearly there had been a soft drink or sticky sweets spill- so pack the wipes as well. Thanks also for product link.
After reading the horrifying article last year about a passenger getting blood and other body fluids all over his underseat bag, I started covering my bag with white kitchen trash bag before I slide it under the seat. Previous passenger had a medical issue and the airline cleaned the seat but not the carpet under the seat.
Wow! I’m really impressed by your packing skills and the black backpack, toilet bag, the other small black bag, and that sleeve you use. Excellent and thanks for your video.
I really appreciated this video. I've watched a lot of different ones gleaning any tips I can. We travel for 2-3 months at a time so laundry is a non-negotiable and no big deal. Also, having so many outfits is nice but unnecessary, imo. I guess it depends on what kind of trip. If you keep moving who are the multiple outfits for? Nobody but you and your husband (and probably not him, actually) will know how many times you've worn the same thing. ☺️ Finally, you didn't include cables, adapters or anything to do with your tech. These are just my opinions as an early retired female, travelling as much as possible in this stage of life with husband who has helped me realize, nobody knows what I've worn 3 days ago.😊
This is brilliant, and the most useful travel video I've ever seen. You solved the carry on crisis. The spot under the seat goes with the ticket so there's no competition for anything. And in fact I'm going on a two week trip next month, and had planned to do it with just a backpack or my small duffle.
Great video. I live in Australia where we have a 7kg total bag weight limit. When I pack carryon only I pack the same way. You haven’t talked about all the other “stuff” we take. All the other stuff, including toiletries, need to be kept to a minimum otherwise there’s no way to meet this weight limit. I also take a small backpack and cross-body bag (which fits in the backpack if it needs to). Anyone who travels two or three months at a time knows that you have to do laundry. I love finding laundromats wherever we go and talking with tourists and locals while doing my laundry. Theres usually a bar nearby so you can sit and have a drink while waiting for your laundry. Happy packing and thanks again for a great video!
Thanks for watching! I have a whole video dedicated to consolidating toiletries and liquids here: th-cam.com/video/gf7UzOXKw9E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=slO5DICx-P60m2F5 as well as other carry-on tips in this video: th-cam.com/video/tgjB6BmxM5g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JAO6i1biq76Ma5XK
I live in Australia too. And that 7kg limit (combined across all bags you carry on) is tough when you have a laptop that weighs 1.6Kg. (And, of course, the bag weight itself) How do you find packing to that weight limit?
Just a tip for Aussies. If you fly internationally with one of the major airlines - we usually fly Emirates - they only weigh your carryon. They all allow another bag (it isn’t written anywhere in the carryon allowance guidelines but they let you bring it) and they don’t weigh it. I usually bring a small crossbody bag (passport, money, tissues and hand sanitizer) and a small backpack. The backpack holds my mini iPad, toiletries, makeup, electric toothbrush, batteries and charging cables and my headset (I’m quite deaf so I need large noise-cancelling headphones to hear the movies. This bag usually weighs 3-5 kgs but I do try to keep it to a minimum. I’ve never had this “other” bag weighed. Once I get to Europe it all fits in my carryon so I’m still only travelling with an international sized carryon with wheels and a small crossbody bag. I still have to decant toiletries etc and minimise everything I take with me, but it works for me. And the airlines accept it.
I do a lot of laundry as I travel also. I pack the laundry detergent sheets which are as easy as a piece of paper to travel with and save me a lot of money over buying the single load size items at the laundry.
I have no real issues with the clothes - it’s all the other stuff. Not just toiletries but chargers, accessories, sometimes gifts (both ways because we often travel to visit family), hobbies… Maybe I need to work on my fear of boredom! And yes, NZ/Aus airlines can be really strict about carry on weight limits.
Thanks, Aly! You & your husband are adorable! ❤ I continue to challenge myself to pack carry-on only, now my second time completed. I used that neck pillow sleeve, on the way there, packing a L'Hamman Turkish towel & three pairs of 32° Cool Footie socks...on the way back, my Lunar Pooch windbreaker. A tip I used for the first time & maybe helpful to others: I packed both of mine, an ultra-absorbant hair towel (Aquis brand & other brand). They weigh next to nothing & take up so little space! Not only great to speed dry washed hair, also to absorb more water out of freshly handwashed items which means faster airdrying & rewearing. All equaling packing less without sacrificing style. I refuse to do that! 😁✈️🧳❤️💯 SAFE TRAVELS TO ALL!
Really doesn't matter how long you go for. One weeks clothes are enough and... use the laundry. Like you do that home 😊. Thank You for showing us the neck pillow 👋👋
I recently flew to Seattle and had a middle seat. Our ticket specified that we could only bring one underseat carry on with us. I had much less room to fir my underseat backpack than my husband who had a window seat. I noticed the same thing on the way home. I feel like this is a change from the past. We are traveling to Seattle again and I have chosen a smaller back pack this time. I have managed to pack for a weeks visit in this small pack and my Tube travel pillow. I will not need to wash anything except underpants during the whole trip. Your video is spot on.
Retired 18z and lived in Europe for 13 years. I would trade the birkenstocks for a Teva type sandal that has a rear strap to hold it on. You can wear it into the water on rocky beaches, if you need to move quickly fire/theft/natural disaster/terrorism you will not run out of your sandals. Can be worn in the shower to prevent athletes foot. Works better on cobblestones and steps. Next item is a door wedge to prevent your hotel/air bnb door from being opened. Some come with an alarm. The last item is a small but powerful "tactical" flashlight for use in emergencies, power outage, stuck in elevator, natural disaster, checking for hidden cameras etcetera.
Another thought besides the door wedge idea is a door prop Door PROPS work more effectively In certain cases than just door STOPS Door props are far more effective when someone gets a bit more desperate and urgently tries to break in I'm talking about situations where they may try to kick the door in A door PROP can buy you MORE time in such cases because if you have ANOTHER door, at least you can get out the OTHER door in an emergency The door prop fits under your door knob Comma and when adjusted properly, will make break-ins MUCH HARDER Door props are good for ANYWHERE you happen to be whether you rent or own Door props can help you whether you rent short or long-term, ESPECIALLY if you happen to have someone notorious for entering unit uninvited and unannounced such as landlords If you've ever dealt with a landlord Who Doesn't give notice before entering your unit, and DOESN'T alert you in the event they must enter on emergency, that person must be flagged Period these are the kinds of people tou want to block from entering your unit when you're home, and this is why you should have a door PROP If someone you're renting from Enters your unit without notice, you can best assure they're up to no good and have some kind of agenda, EVEN if it happens to be SNOOPING with the intent of STEALING You also don't want to be undressed when someone suddenly Enters your unit without notice, ESPECIALLY If it's a landlord of the OPPOSITE sex You don't want to be getting into or out of the shower, only to find out someone has entered when they weren't supposed to, and they see you NAKED Someone who sneaks into your unit, even when you're not there is also up to no good, and you can tell when things are disturbed or if you happen to have a security camera, the camera catches them in the ACT Another reason why you should Be firm but polite is if someone you didn't see before coming to your unit suddenly shows up out of nowhere Let's say you come home on a bike, and you dismount and have your key in hand and then suddenly, a person who owns the unit suddenly shows up out of clearly nowhere, wanting into the basement.... Feeling obligated, you let them in, when you should be saying no, you need a 24-hour notice When this happened to me, I let the person know I really wasn't expecting them, and they NEED to GIVE NOTICE The person wasn't listening because this happened twice Along with some other stuff that went on for quite a while until I lawyered up, and got the situation cleaned up for the better So why didn't I speak up SOONER? Because I was giving the person a chance to realize their mistake and self-correct Anyway, that didn't happen, and a lawyer had to get involved due to ongoing harassment Anyway, a door PROP is BETTER than just a door STOP ANY day! ✨️🎊🥳🎉🧨
@@0annonymous I have tried wedges and they are hit-or-miss. Often there's not enough friction on the floor for them to get a grip. I prefer the little latches that hook into the door strike hole. I have plastic and metal ones, very compact and light and work well, but only on inward opening doors. BTW these can be improvised from a metal fork. I always travel with my Leki brand "Wanderfruend" walking cane, it's adjustable and works well as a door prop. And of course has other uses. Is allowed on the plane in addition to other items. Also have a little motion sensor alarm bag lock which can be put on door handle or used to secure bags with an alarm. An alarm can be improvised by placing something on the door handle that will make a noise when in falls - ashtrays were once useful for this but those are scarce nowadays. Drinking glass might work.
I travel personal item only with a backpack and a crossbody/fanny pack. As a medical student attending away rotations at hospitals, I manage to pack a few pairs of scrubs, 3 dress pants, a few business casual tops and sweaters, my white coat, a few casual outfits, a couple of pairs of shoes, and in the Winter, a packable down jacket and rain jacket. Oh! And my laptop and toiletries (although I do buy shower essentials at my destination). It's not light, but it gets me through the month. Only time my packing failed me was this past winter in Baltimore after the snow storm - I had to buy additional thermals after it hit.
Thanks for this straightforward video. I started carrying luggage that goes under the seat because the overbin space is just a war I do not want to participate. It is easy to slip in and out. I will def buy that foot hammock!
Thank you- this looks amazing! In my senior years I have struggles to lift my rolling suitcase on to the storage bins- this looks like just the ticket!
I just wanna thank you for taking the time to make these videos! Not only do you provide packing lists, but then how to wear your pieces 27 different ways!? You’ve probably helped so many people save money on baggage fees with these hacks!! Sincere thank you for helping those of us who could never seem to figure this out on our own😆
This video was actually super useful, and had ideas and tricks I haven't seen elsewhere. I am kind of shocked. 😅 The foot hammock! Shortie twin, you get me. And that stuffable neck pillow is genius. Both for bringing extra, but can also be your purse on the trip, and even body pillow for better sleep in strange beds.
For the record, I believe I can pull off this plan with my 17 X 13 X 7 inch two wheel bag, though probably with a bit fewer clothes than Aly. It's likewise front loading. Also the retractable handle disappears behind a zipped pocket. Two normal attached handles remain to convert it to a tote when desired.
😂 I have a “packing dungeon”, too. LOVE the neck pillow idea! Packing carry on for a 25 day European trip. Ordering that neck pillow right now. Thanks for a great packing video.
Thank you for doing one of the best packing videos I have ever seen! This solves the problem of Europe and Southeast Asia flights. I just finished a 77-day trip, and I could have used that system just fine except for electronics and cameras. Thanks again fir a brilliant packing system option!!!
Outstanding! Really well put together, and loads of useful tips. Would like to see a version of the mix-n-match outfits at the end by your husband for us male viewers.
Last year I traveled with a similar backpack as a carry-on on Eurowings (size and weight limits are less than in US). It was heavy and quite uncomfortable to sit with it on trains. I am planning to take a smaller backpack from now on or just a regular carry-on with wheels along with a personal item. I’ve learned from the experience. Unless you have a lot of muscles and stamina of course.😅
My husband and I are older and retired but we spend half the year traveling. We do check in bags because no charge for 1 st class, but always took a bag with us with meds, jewelry and 1 set of clothing, and iPad and headset. It’s a problem to use overhead bins because of arthritis so I decided to use an underseat personal item. The point, of this long speech is if you are older, get one with 4 wheels. It’s way to heavy when my gate always seems to be the last one and two wheels is cumbersome 😊
@carmen, what do you do with your mail when you travel for so long? I live on the West Coast, and I'll be working a seasonal job in KY for 4 months over the summer.
@@lindasisk9002 In Australia, when I would spend months interstate with my sister, I would have my mail redirected. The forms are available from our local/ nearest Post Office. Fill in start + end date (I chose a few days b4 departing so my sister wouldn’t have to send back mail if some arrived after I had left) Important to tick / check TEMPORARY, as you are returning to your home address, not relocating permanently! Plan ahead, as it can take 3-5 working days to activate this service (of course week-ends are not included, I’ve been caught out 😮) Hope this helps
This is just what I’ve been looking for! I’m under 5 ft and know I can’t lift my roll-on luggage into the overhead compartment. This is a game changer.
I've watched a bunch of "packing light" videos and I appreciate that this one wasn't longer than it needed to be. I appreciate the tight editing, while still throwing in some fun extras. Also, great product suggestions! I hadn't seen the slim packing cubes. Thanks. :)
My hubby shared your video with me. We're going on a trip and I needed some new packing gear! Just spent 350 under you! You deserve whatever affiliate commission you can get. This was a great video! Thanks!!
One of the best packing videos by far. love all the tips but my favorite is the toiletry bag, haven’t found something like that in my country, flat and detachable features are best.
Absolutely brilliant information. My wife and I, retired, sold our home last year. We’ve been traveling Europe and the Middle East for one year so far. Airlines now charge for carry on, and just increased those charges as well as charging for small items like Fanny packs. Your recommendations and packing ideas will go a long in our quest to pack efficiently to avoid excess airline fees. Thanks so much. You and your husband make a cute couple.
Yes, I got on an airplane with a carry-on and a fanny pack. I was stopped and told to put my fanny pack in my carry-on before they would take my boarding pass. USA.2023
The best packing video that I have seen! These clothing combinations are great and the neck pillow idea is incredible. Thanks for sharing. I loved the black floral blouse with the brown palazzo pants are beautiful.
I’m so excited to see your video. I’ve been telling folks this for years! I go to Europe and pack in my carry-on and a smaller personal bag. But I could pack in just one of these two bags if necessary however, I need a CPAP machine and my medicine. Folks just don’t need as much as they think. Thank you for making this video!
Medical devices don’t count towards the limits. You can have it in it’s carry case and it’s not a problem. Unfortunately the backpack itself is considered too big for a personal item as it’s about 5cm too tall even for the larger limits (40cm) but I did see someone mention that they allowed it to Mexico
@@jenkomusic9918 oh yes, I’m well aware as I’ve been using a CPAP machine for many years and traveling overseas for many years. But thank you for that info. It also depends on the airline of course. Some do not allow a “free” medical device while others have no issue with it. thanks again!! 😀
Love this! We travel quite a bit and I want to pack lighter so you’ve helped with your tips… my husband is not convinced that this works for men, though. 🤦🏾♀️ I need you to do a similar video of packing for your husband
This will definitely work for men. The only time that I can't see it working for men, or women too, is if your are going to extremely cold climates where you need heavy, thick alpine type gear etc.
Using the neck pillow as packing space is friggin genius. As it’s not counted as carry on by airlines….yet. lol I also use my bumbag (fanny pack) while in airport and on plane (never as a tourist in a country though, screams “tourist, mug me!”) for anything I may need while flying so I don’t have to constantly get my carry on out and open. Plus it’s easy to hide behind you as you board! Just incase they’re super strict.
airnz and some budget airlines in europe will either weigh your travel pillow with the rest of your carry on and/or count it as a personal item. it's not great.
I once did over 2 weeks through France and Germany in a backpack slightly smaller than the one you have here, but then another time I needed a carry on for a week in England. What made the difference was the plans I had during that time and the weather. I definitely think people could condense more than they realize, but it won't always work, so it's good to have backup plans. But that empty neck pillow is a GENIUS find! That is something I will add to my travel accessories!
I bought one of the pillows last year for trip to Ireland. I packed it flat in my bag and then put clothes I bought in it to bring back. My pillow looks like it's a little larger than yours. However, I have seen videos the past few weeks and did read on one airline that a lot of airlines are charging this year for pillows and blankets and/or counting them as a carry on. So make sure you check the website of the airline you're flying with this year.
I sooo love all your travel tips! I have already purchased a few things you recommended for our upcoming 3 week trip to the Nova Scotia and nearby provinces in the summer and then to Jasper and Banff in the fall! Love you videos!!!
If I get somewhere and need a piece of clothing, there is usually an M&H or local clothing shop where you can pick up a basic (black skirt, dress, shorts etc.) then leave it in the room when you check out if you don't want to bring it home with you.
Always plan on using the overhead bin right above, or as close to your seat as you can, airlines cram seats together, then expect you to put your bag under the seat in front of you, reducing your legroom even more!
Great tips Aly! I'm short and hubby is tall as well. Can you do a quick overview on packing tips for tall men? We travel extensively and only do carry-on no matter where we travel. Always learning to pack efficiently :))
Okay I’ve seen a ton of these types of videos, but this one actually made me 😮😮😮! Great tips for substituting certain items you’d be taking anyways to make more slim profile or multi-purpose!
Very impressed. You’re the first travel TH-camr who has packed a small underseat bag. Am very impressed. For Poland soon I’m just taking an underseat bag. Much easier to lug from airport to Airbnb to train etc. 👏👏
I've been hearing that some US carriers are starting to not allow "neck pillows" outside of your caryon (no longer a "free" item) I don't know how strict they are going to be, but plan on being prepared.
This is simply amazing. I didn't realize you can pack so much in just one backpack. Are the packing cubes necessary? Would you have been able to pack as many pieces of cloths just rolling each item up tightly? Wouldn't these packing cubes take up extra space?
We've been using the 38L Hynes Eagle Carry On Backpack for years and love it, but I do like your backpack for a few bucks more and will consider it when ours is worn out. That stuffable travel pillow... I'm order it now!
Aly, I just discovered your channel this morning and am already loving it! I wanted to mention a brand I discovered years ago (and now they offer luggage too). The brand is Baggallini, started by two flight attendants! They started with purses and since discovering them, I've never once purchased any other brand of purse. Now they also offer luggage. My old inexpensive hard sided luggage was on it's last leg, so I sprang for a Baggallini modern convertible travel backpack (expanding) personal item, the 4 wheel carry on and expanding compression cubes and once again, this brand really lives up to the brand. So many zippers and pockets and organizational wizardry. I am such a fan and wish they would send me free stuff with all the raving I do to my friends about them, but alas, I'm a 58 year old school secretary and am certain I'll not be seeing anything come in the mail. If you are able to get a sponsorship from them, I think their products are amazing. I find that I really only use the backpack so far since all my trips have been under 2 weeks in length. Perhaps if I were to go overseas or need to bring gifts I'll use the carry on? Thanks for all your awesome tips! You are a doll.
I did a European trip with under seat bag only. No extra personal bag allowed and the max bag size allowed only holds 22 litres on budget airlines.I wore one skirt on top of a second skirt and layered tops toppers, coat scarf etc, yes it was hot. Your cosmetic bag looks as though it would half fill my under seat bag.
Just found you. I'm so impressed. Hubby and I are both retired and love to travel. My ultimate goal is to travel for two weeks with an underseat bag only. Problem is I don't care for backpacks. But your tips in this video are great.
I can confirm I packed like this for weekends in Europe and it was so convenient. The airlines treated this as my carry-on tho so it still went into the overhead locker.
Aly, thanks for sharing. 2 questions: 1) What is the weight of the backpack itself i.e. before packing? 2) If you were to include the stuff in the neck pillow, what would the total weight of the packed bag be? Thanks
Thank you for this timely video. I'm traveling to Spain soon for 15 days, and was wondering how much to take. I think sometimes we forget that there will be laundries available wherever we go! I d have a little more challenge as a large person, but I think I can make do.
I’ve been a minimalist traveller for years. I’m a tall guy, not a giant like your husband though. My last big trip was to Vietnam for three weeks. It was in February and I travelled from the south (hot and humid) to the north (cold and wet). I also used a domestic airline while there. I have a similar light weight carry on from Lowe Alpine which weighs in empty at around 1kg. It is minimalistic itself with just one large mesh pocket on the inside of the outside flap and a key pocket that is accessed from the top that is large enough and deep enough to hold a wallet, a passport and a phone. I was able to manage the three weeks by limiting my underwear and socks. I did a handwash every few days. Like you I chose things the I could combine or layer depending on the weather. I wore my hiking shoes and packed my regular ones. I had room for my tech gear too. I really enjoyed seeing your use of packing cubes - they are great. I saw your toiletry bag and just wondered how you get through airport security with that. In Europe, we are still limited to a one litre in a ziplock bag. The same applied in Vietnam. I use one for my liquids etc. and have another that can holder those items in their ziplock bag while by bus or rail. Thank you for your great video!
I didn't demo my liquids in this video, but my liquids I pack in a ziploc to get through security, and then once I'm in destination I use the toiletry bag to stay organized. I made a separate video about how I pack my liquids here: th-cam.com/video/gf7UzOXKw9E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6v05L-PVti_jco-p
I use almost the same thing, It is a 35 litre rucsac designed for climbing and so is narrower than my body. The advantages are that it is easy to handle, has no wheels ot telescopic handles. It has compression straps and a proper carrying system so that it sits high on my back and is comfortable. It also has a floating (detachable) lid which can be very useful indeed. It is perfect for air travel although designed for something entirely different.
Good Video. We both take backpacks and roll our clothes and put in them, holds a lot. This is when we go to the Bahamas. My husband has his swim trunks on the whole time and wears one shirt and takes one outfit. Pretty much the same with me except a couple more outfits.
Fantastic video!!! Thanks for sharing! I have a transatlantic cruise to England, and then I'll spend a few days in London and Paris. I'm going to use this system!
Impressive! I love the fact that this is not sponsored and the items are inexpensive. I don’t mind checking in my carryon on the way back home, but never on my outbound trip, because I do not want to take the risk of losing my clothes. I cant wait to try it next time I travel. I
Please note: If you're doing this, DO NOT BOOK A SEAT NEXT TO OR NEAR EMERGENCY EXITS. You will be required to put your bag in the over-head cabins as they do not want anything blocking exit paths.
I’ve always been a light carry on packer but have recently gone the route of of the under seat backpack as well. I’ll never go back. Half the weight and none of the things I carried, but didn’t use.
This was so helpful! This is my first time hearing about the neck pillow hack and I’m totally gonna try it. I came for the packing tips, but I feel like you could totally have a TH-cam channel solely about life married with you and your husband’s height difference! That is so amazing! 🤩🤩
About neck pillow: You don't have to buy empty shell made just for travel hackers. I bought mine in some cheap shop, it is shaped like black panther. It came with insert made of some poliester-type material pillow inside, but the cover have a zipper and that's why I bought it. It is great for longer travels (more clothes needed) or if I want extra space for souvenirs (I would take that cover inside my backpack and on way back put some clothes into the cover and souvenirs into backpack). It helped me few times, but I have no idea where it is now - I have learnt to pack lighter and one backpack is usually enough :) AND be aware that some airlines (in Europe at least) know about the trick and might catch you with that "pillow" and not allow it! EDIT: I forgot to mention that to made it look as real pillow you need to put inside quite much stuff and it can make it heavy - so choose wisely what you would use as pillow insert ;)
Thanks for the video - very helpful. I will be on a 9 day Alaska cruise in October only with carry-on. Empty neck pillow would be great, but it cannot be delivered to French-Polynesia. So, I will use a zip pillow cover to pack my thick jumper (hand-knitted from my granny) in, as I did several times before. So I have an additional personal pillow on long flights and it easily fits between handles of my carry-on. Never had problem with my personal pillow at boarding. Greetings from Moorea (sister island of Tahiti) in French-Polynesia 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷 🇪🇺
My challenge is the liquids. I'm more comfortable traveling with my favourite facial cleanser, sunscreen, and moisturizer. Add in the other necessary liquid/paste items, and I just can't manage 10 days or more with the tiny liquids allowance for carry-on.
You have a new subscriber! I just ordered the neck pillow and backpack from your link. I used some of these techniques for my 16 day Ireland trip early this month. Carry on only. In retrospect however, I wish I would have used the stuff a neck pillow idea. And my backpack, although nice, opens from the top so I think this one may work better.
This is double the size of a personal item on Lufthansa group airlines. 40x30x10cm is allowed. This one is 40x30x20 according to the link provided. Beware if you’re travelling to Europe.
I love that you can use a foot hammock for long haul leg room comfort, yet your husband would need to remove the entire seat in front of him for any leg room comfort. When it comes to travel being shorter ain't so bad! 😊
Some great tips! I will eagerly await the Dude packing video lol. When I travelled to Mexico, I only took a carry on for a month! Well packed like you, my only one excess was I brought 5 pairs of socks when really, I only needed one pair for travel !
Thanks for this totally awesome video!! You mentioned you’re planning an upcoming video on doing laundry. I’m wondering If you’ve tried: (a) Soak (supposedly a no-rinse liquid soap) in a ziplock baggie and/or (b) Breezeo (or similar) dry laundry strips and if so your thought (I’ve seen each on other videos but haven’t tried either yet)

This is gonna be really bad, but he’s like really tall you realise you’re probably gonna have really talking. How do you
By the way, really love the bag, really love the ideas of the packing. I’m so sorry about the most inappropriate stuff forgive me
I want to see your husband packing. I 6’5 find it hard to believe he can pack everything in that back. I have a 50 liter bag and show alone take up so much space.
Yup
Excellent vid! Since this fits under seat it can be considered a personal item correct? I have essentially the same bag for my personal in addition to my carryon roller 😮 2 weeks in Italy soon!
As a business traveler (2-3 weeks at a time, suits etc). I really appreciate you suggesting under the seat for this kind of traveler. I always check in my suitcase and a small rucksack for laptop etc. if everyone travelled like you or like I do. There would be no fight for the overhead storage.
You say it well. Her system went with a checked bag.
Some people need the under the seat area for their long legs, duh!
Same. I've only ever used overhead for hand carry from duty free.
I do the same!
This is a genius idea! Thank you!!
Love this idea
Thanks! That's a piece of critical info.
Southwest has free luggage
So… what I always do is wear a big fluffy sweater or packs me jacket and take with me a bag of some kind. Once on board the outerwear goes in the bag and that’s my pillow (if your intent is to get a pillow rather than to bring extra clothes this can be a workaround)
This is a change? 🤔 I think it's always been that way.
I simply avoid them
Literally just screamed when the Husband came in, LOL!!! Was NOT expecting that. LMAOOO!!!!! Loved the tip on the neck pillow thing.

Take a bin bag or 2 and put the travel bag in the bin bag and then put it under the seat.😁
Finally, you didn't include cables, adapters or anything to do with your tech.
These are just my opinions as an early retired female, travelling as much as possible in this stage of life with husband who has helped me realize, nobody knows what I've worn 3 days ago.😊
Except if you’re taking photos and you’re wearing the same thing in each photo!
(And, of course, the bag weight itself)
How do you find packing to that weight limit?
Omg, this is the best packing video I've seen on TH-cam so far.
Domestic airlines are onto the stuffable neck pillow and now count it as a carry on bag! I was shocked.
@@happycook6737 "onto" the stuffable neck pillow is wild. It's a neck pillow. Who cares what it is stuffed with.
That's very impressive. You even have color! I have no idea how to create a versatile wardrobe like yours.
It was great that you showed a try-on of your outfits as well. Very helpful video
I was one of those weekly commute by plane guys, and not having to worry about not having overhead bin space remove 99% of the stress from flying
Another thought besides the door wedge idea is a door prop
Door PROPS work more effectively In certain cases than just door STOPS
Door props are far more effective when someone gets a bit more desperate and urgently tries to break in
I'm talking about situations where they may try to kick the door in
A door PROP can buy you MORE time in such cases because if you have ANOTHER door, at least you can get out the OTHER door in an emergency
The door prop fits under your door knob Comma and when adjusted properly, will make break-ins MUCH HARDER
Door props are good for ANYWHERE you happen to be whether you rent or own
Door props can help you whether you rent short or long-term, ESPECIALLY if you happen to have someone notorious for entering unit uninvited and unannounced such as landlords
If you've ever dealt with a landlord Who Doesn't give notice before entering your unit, and DOESN'T alert you in the event they must enter on emergency, that person must be flagged Period these are the kinds of people tou want to block from entering your unit when you're home, and this is why you should have a door PROP
If someone you're renting from Enters your unit without notice, you can best assure they're up to no good and have some kind of agenda, EVEN if it happens to be SNOOPING with the intent of STEALING
You also don't want to be undressed when someone suddenly Enters your unit without notice, ESPECIALLY If it's a landlord of the OPPOSITE sex
You don't want to be getting into or out of the shower, only to find out someone has entered when they weren't supposed to, and they see you NAKED
Someone who sneaks into your unit, even when you're not there is also up to no good, and you can tell when things are disturbed or if you happen to have a security camera, the camera catches them in the ACT
Another reason why you should Be firm but polite is if someone you didn't see before coming to your unit suddenly shows up out of nowhere
Let's say you come home on a bike, and you dismount and have your key in hand and then suddenly, a person who owns the unit suddenly shows up out of clearly nowhere, wanting into the basement....
Feeling obligated, you let them in, when you should be saying no, you need a 24-hour notice
When this happened to me, I let the person know I really wasn't expecting them, and they NEED to GIVE NOTICE
The person wasn't listening because this happened twice Along with some other stuff that went on for quite a while until I lawyered up, and got the situation cleaned up for the better
So why didn't I speak up SOONER?
Because I was giving the person a chance to realize their mistake and self-correct
Anyway, that didn't happen, and a lawyer had to get involved due to ongoing harassment
Anyway, a door PROP is BETTER than just a door STOP ANY day!
My favorite outfit combo was the flowery black sleeveless top paired with the flowy maroon pants. 🥰
Thanks!
Traveling to Germany and France in 2 months for 14 days. This was so helpful! Ordering a few of these items. Thanks!
Oooo great ideas!!
Thanks for a great packing video.
have an amazing trip!!

USA.2023
They wouldn’t even let me board until I put my water bottle and food I had just purchased inside security into my personal item bag!!
The best packing video that I have seen! These clothing combinations are great and the neck pillow idea is incredible. Thanks for sharing. I loved the black floral blouse with the brown palazzo pants are beautiful.
Thank you! I think that's my favorite combo too 😊
I’m so excited to see your video.
Thank you SO MUCH for letting us know about that foot rest!!! Instant purchase. Back pain, be gone! 😅
Loved that foot hammock - also good on coach tours.
I'm amazed at the versatility of the flowy dark red pants!
Great idea ❤
I understand that airlines now view the neck pillow and fanny pillows pack as an accessory.
Wear your bumbag diagonally across your chest, and you will look like the fashionable kids.
@@milliezumbasomeone needs to verify this.
airnz and some budget airlines in europe will either weigh your travel pillow with the rest of your carry on and/or count it as a personal item. it's not great.
Sounds like you have an amazing summer lined up!
If I get somewhere and need a piece of clothing, there is usually an M&H or local clothing shop where you can pick up a basic (black skirt, dress, shorts etc.) then leave it in the room when you check out if you don't want to bring it home with you.
You are a smart traveler I did buy a suit case backpack such as yards but now I’m ordering a neck roll pack thank you for the tips ❤
One of the best travel videos I’ve ever seen- thank you! I also happened to just have bought that backpack last week and look forward to using!
Careful on the back pack Suze. Airlines like Spurit,Allegiant and Jet Blue are pretty strict about the size.
The stuffable pillow is a great tip, but I'm worried it would be considered like a separate carryon. Is there that possibility?
I wish you had given a link for the backpack. Loved the packing shells.
Is the neck pillow still working? I thought the airlines were clamping down on "extras" like that. Thanks.
Southwest is definitely clamping down.
Thanks for showing your outfits! That is very helpful
Aly, thanks for sharing. 2 questions: 1) What is the weight of the backpack itself i.e. before packing? 2) If you were to include the stuff in the neck pillow, what would the total weight of the packed bag be? Thanks
Thank you 🙏 I have been looking for a way to get our luggage down to one bag each 👍👍
I've watched so many travel videos and have never seen the foot hammock! About to buy two - my husband loved it!
I really like the stuffing a head pillow idea. I’m gonna remove the cover of the one I have now and test it 👍
Fantastic video!!!
You will be required to put your bag in the over-head cabins as they do not want anything blocking exit paths.
same for bulkhead; they took my bag away b4 take off.
Such a great idea with the neck pillow!
I like the tip for the neck pillow. Thanks
Some airlines are not allowing the neck pillow or hip pack if you have a Personal Item already. They are really cracking down.
Even if it’s in your carryon?
I’ve always been a light carry on packer but have recently gone the route of of the under seat backpack as well. I’ll never go back. Half the weight and none of the things I carried, but didn’t use.
I just bought the fillable neck pillow for my long haul flight. I usually buy too much stuff when I come home to the states😆
This was so helpful! This is my first time hearing about the neck pillow hack and I’m totally gonna try it. I came for the packing tips, but I feel like you could totally have a TH-cam channel solely about life married with you and your husband’s height difference! That is so amazing! 🤩🤩
hehe I like that idea!
Just ordered the backpack. My old was was REALLY old and this new one should work perfectly on my trip in May.
This is the BEST travel video I have ever seen!
I actually made a whole video about how to reduce liquids! th-cam.com/video/gf7UzOXKw9E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=otP6j4672aDTeZy3
One of the best videos of this type I’ve seen.
Great packing hacks for travel.💕 Gna have to get me a couple packing cubes soon.🥰Ty for sharing. Enjoyed it subscribed
Thank you so much for this informative video. I use grocery produce bags for my shoes.
Ally - great video! As seasoned cruiser, I gathered a great deal of information. 🙂 The links are VERY helpful!
Well packed like you, my only one excess was I brought 5 pairs of socks when really, I only needed one pair for travel !
hehe coming soon, I promise!
I always think of socks and underwear as 3 sets, one dirty, one on and one clean. These items are easily washed in a sink and air dried.
Best packing video ever. Love that you show your outfits too😊
Thanks for this totally awesome video!!
You mentioned you’re planning an upcoming video on doing laundry. I’m wondering If you’ve tried:
(a) Soak (supposedly a no-rinse liquid soap) in a ziplock baggie
and/or
(b) Breezeo (or similar) dry laundry strips
and if so your thought (I’ve seen each on other videos but haven’t tried either yet)
