    Great video mate! I am a ford tech we mostly get rangers through so heres just a few things I did pick up, with the fuel filter there is a little arrow on the bottom piece of the housing to line up with the arrow on the top, marking it with a marker does no harm and im sure is easier tho, the oil filter housing is a 27mm, those oil filters make a huge mess and oil actually gets into the chassis rail below and will drip out and make a mess of your garage or driveway even days later, to stop it from spilling as much oil and sometimes none at all, loosen the oil filter slowly until you just see oil coming out slowly then tightne it half a turn, drain you oil from the sump, then pull the oil filter out afterwards, makes it a lot easier to clean, make sure you get a new gasket for the sump plug!! and while youre not wrong about the time restraint, 10 minutes is not true, I like to get it done fast and definetly dont leave it without oil in, but Ive found that 20-30 minutes without oil is fine

    • @abdautomotive
      @abdautomotive  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes i always get the chassis rail drip, will try this next time round!

      I always just put a rag over the chassis rail before doing the oil filter change and never get any oil on the chassis. 👍

      @@TheChrisco1969 if you have a 2.2L or 3.2L 5w40 should be fine, I would still recommend 5w30 but it shouldn't be bad, If you have a bi turbo definitely use 0w30

    • @marcusbarnes5929
      @marcusbarnes5929 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheChrisco1969 what brand oil you running?
      For the 3.2L engine it has a range of 0w30, 5w30 , 5w40
      Depending on which country your in, it even has different specs for emmisions.
      JUST MAKE SURE IT MEETS THE SPECS.
      5w30 is a good all rounder weight.
      5w40 if your towing at full capacity in really hot conditions would offer better protection with slightly worse fuel consumption.
      If you have DPF make sure the oil is safe to use with dpf.
      If No dpf use a full PAO synthetic full zinc anti wear package as will offer the ultimate protection.
      The C2/C3 synthetic oils have less anti wear additives and lower TBN and not as good as A5/B5 synthetic oils.

    Awesome video mate. Was sceptical of servicing my 2012 3.2L Ranger myself after hearing of the time limit on the oil change. Just got done with it all and only problem I ran into was I didn’t let the fuel filter housing fill enough before starting and gave myself a bit of a lock, nothing a bit of “start ya bastard” in the air box couldn’t fix.
    Running great now.
    Thanks for all your VERY informative videos

    You certainly can save money doing this yourself if you're confident about the 10 to 15 minute requirement. A few days ago I did an engine oil and filter change, a new sump plug, a fuel filter change plus a new aircleaner element and new cabin filter on my Ranger. Total cost was $302.18. Our local Ford mob would charge at least $650 for that.

    Great video, mate. Thanks for posting. If I could add - While doing the air filter, I like to give the MAF sensor a quick spray with sensor cleaner too, just to keep it clean. As for oil, I run Magnatec in mine (2016 xlt). Runs very quiet, and it is usually on special at supercheap 10 litres for $95.

    This was a vert informative video. I have the exact same car with a front grill too. Mine is 2014 XLT. Not understanding the car has cost me a fortune in terms of repairs including a brand new engine, gearbox change and so many more components. The oil pump issue shows you know your stuff. I once had an oil pump becuase the mechanic (who knows better) took too long when changing the oil. Great work. Looking forward to see many more of your videos on this car. Going cheap on Ford can cost you dearly.

    Thanks a lot for these mate. I have a 2014 Px ranger with 270k on it so getting up there in kms like yours so similar things are going wrong.
    If you ever get a chance, could you go through the process of a full coolant change. I have been told that just draining the radiator from the bung will leave many litres of coolant still in the block and lines and there is a process to go through to make sure it is all fully changed with new coolant.
    Another idea if you get to it would be a full brake fluid change and bleed. The PX has a shared clutch and brake master cylinder and from reading the manual there are seperate bleed points for both but they must be done together.
    Thanks again for the videos mate. They are much appreciated.

    Hi there
    I watched all your videos about ford ranger PX, super informative as there are not a lot of video about this car.
    I’ve got the same model, I managed to do a stupid thing, putting petrol instead of diesel.
    I’ve cleaned I believe everything but now my car won’t crank.
    When I turn the ignition I can’t hear the pump fuel activated, the one inside the tank.
    Do you think it could be the problem ?
    Is there another pump like a high pressure fuel pump ?
    Is there a fuel pump relay or only a fuse for ford ranger t6 ?
    Thanks

    • @abdautomotive
      @abdautomotive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      remove the fuel line at time stamp 3:01 on the video, and see if the low pressure fuel pump in the tank, is pumping fuel to the high pressure injector pump, you should see diesel coming out of the line

    Have you tried K&N air filters? Am wondering why to go with OEM air filters instead of reusable ones. I know a lot of folks have experienced reduced cleaning intervals for their MAF sensors due to oil contamination from reusable air filters, but a few squirts with contact cleaner sorts that out.

    • @HOSPlTALLER

      K&N's let a lot of fine dust particles through - they really are not good, quite a few tests to watch on YT - wouldn't even consider them for street use never mind dusty trails.

    Great Video. Please make a detailed video on Transmission Fluid change. There are a few videos there on TH-cam but it's too dark to see them as lighting isn't good while recording below car. The part that many TH-cam videos haven't covered is the exact quantity of Fluid used , nor the exact level of fill. When to know that oil level is perfect.
    There will be many subscribers like me who would want the answer for this. So a request to cover these points whenever you make the video.
