    Great video 👍 question? You mentioned the hose was 15mm but for a Px2 others have said it’s 16mm is that correct?

      16mm is the standard size, i used some off cut that looked like 15mm when i measured it, used a tape measure tho so not that accurate, go with the 16mm

    Thank you been looking for a video like this for ages. With the EGR to Exhaust manifold blanking plate, I found another guy who slotted the two bottom holes on the plate. Then you only have to completely remove the top centre bolt and only back off the two lower bolts, as you did with the blanking plate at the EGR valve body. Thank you again, job well done.

    Having worked on ships it is vitaly important to maintain your coolant.
    If you're using town water or bore water or not changing the coolant regularly you will get corrosion in the water jacket.
    The exhaust gas won't corrode, the coolant does, if the coolant is maintained these problems shouldn't occur but no-one changes their coolant regularly. The engine is made up of dissimilar metals that react with each other when the coolant gets tired and starts to becomes an electrolyte.
    Cracks may occur from expanding and contracting but corrosion won't if you look after your coolant.

    Great video, 👍 the water line bypass number 1 looks the best. Factory.
    You can also just turn off the EGR valve In the software and it never opens to stop soot build up.
    I also read in the ranger Px3 the EGR acts as a pressure relief valve so it opens to relieve boost but stays closed so exhaust gas doesn't get sucked through when light throttle cruising.

    Thanks for posting mate cheers.
    Just did this to my 2014 3.2L Ranger.
    Had driven it a long way and noticed I was topping up coolant all the time.
    Suspected an issue with the EGR cooler.
    Eventually it was going through more coolant than I could put it, litres at a time. Must have all been going out the exhaust. Also eventually noticed exhaust gases coming out the coolant tank and odours. So decided to do my own bypass before the engine overheated potentially causing serious damage, if that hasn’t occurred already. Have done the coolant line bypass, haven’t done the exhaust yet.
    It is now not loosing any coolant for the first time in a long time. Temp gauge is stable. So must have been the EGR cooler at fault.
    Very disappointed with Ford for these rubbish parts.
    Will be taking it in to the shop ASAP.
    Thanks for the tip mate cheers.

    This is awsome in theory, wish I had this before I did all this in situ in the car. Beware the egr valve the little tabs of the factory gasket are sharper then shark teeth, also if u think the exhaust blank is going in like shown then your dreaming. The only way to really accomplish all this with a full intake clean. Get the intake manifold out to get the best access to the back of the head. U can fully remove the egr cooler and fit the blank with a piece of stiff wire inserted through the top hole of the exhaust manifold, slide the top hole of the blank on and then slide top hole of the egr cooler on and then pull the whole lot back towards the Manifold. In sert the 2 bottom bolts to secure then reef the wire out for the top bolt. Then put all the intake gear back on. Make sure u have some small 10mm 3/8th tube sockets with universals to get at the ex manifold bolts in/out. These will come in handy throughout the intake removal as well. Also tie the bonnet up so it sits straight or 90deg as well, allows heaps of room. Ps hose from auto parts supplier in Australia is almost perfect factory replacement for bypass calibre ch1325c.

    • @wadehughes8986
      @wadehughes8986 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah nah, no need to take the inlet manifold out to do the blanking both sides. If someone like me can do it on a gravel driveway with limited knowledge and tools, then anyone can. The trick is to take out the bolts / nuts from both sides of the EGR out at the same time. If you loosen the 13mm nut that holds the EGR to the motor, then you can do the exhaust side from under the car without undoing the exhaust manifold. The other side is the easy side. No need to take anything else out of the way to do the job.

    Just wondering, if you use a piece of hose to bypass the coolant, like you show in the start of the video, does that now mean that the now hot exhaust will be going straight into the intake? Hence the need for the block off plates? How long can you drive it without the plates fitted? Also, how can you tell if an EGR is dud when buying a Ford PX? I'm flying to Perth to buy, and driving back to VIC, 3500km. Ive just watched 1 video showing the heater hose pulled off the firewall, runs the car, and shows the coolant bubbling. He said this is the exhaust gas mixing with coolant. Correct or no? Thanks. Your videos are really informative :)

Sometime when I start it just clicks, when it finally fires it runs rough for 20-30 seconds from there it is fine. I am now releasing the radiator pressure cap to stop the pressure when it is standing. That seems to temporarily solve that problem. I only blanked the egr valve side because the acess appears so difficult on the exhaust side ,( and by passed the cooler,) any risk in over heating the cooler with exhaust gas being ale to flow from the exhaust side? I guess its not getting any flow as the exhaust gas has no where to go so heating should be minimal .

    Thanks for taking the time.
    Q. On exhaust side blank plate, doing it the way you showed, does it not create an exhaust leak?? You loosened bolts then inserted a 1-2mm blank plate. When you tighten bolts back on exhaust, they would remain slightly off tight up against engine and hence a small exhaust leak?? Just thinking thru this logically or am I missing something??
    Either way, great effort, love your work

      i get what your saying, when you re-tighten the 8 exhaust manifold bolts it will push the cooler over about 1.5 mm , there is 1 bolt that holds the cooler in place (time stamp 13:03) which in theory should be loosened, however i did not this this on mine and it sealed fine.

      I blocked my EGR on both sides last week. And have now got a very high pitch squeal from 1.5K revs and up… (turbo sound leaking through exhaust like you mentioned)
      I thought I may have just minted the gasket when I prayed the manifold back. Because of how much of a c&@$ the job was, I just dumped my car at the tuners to fix,
      They’re under the assumption the eBay plate I bought may have been to thick. They’re going to pull them out and just close it from the tune. Mentioned it’s a gearbox out job to completely remove the cooler…. Which makes sense given how difficult it was to wedge the 2 plates in…

      @@ReeceWatson-fm1me I found the same thing, spent a whole day trying to work it out then gave up and put it back to stock. Apparently the px2 is a different cooler and doesn't fail like the earlier ones. I blanked the egr at the valve and had it turned off in the ecu, also removed the inlet manifold etc and cleaned, goes real good now

      you can remove the EGR cooler , but not the EGR valve itself, if you unplug it , it will go into limp mode

    L/H side blanking plate, 15 mins to do a manual in place but need bent spanners etc for a auto because the dipstick tube blocks access to the top bolt, R/H side takes a while as well but well worth it.

    What subsequent happen to the turbo when removing the EGR system? Does it effect to life spans of the turbo charger or piston? The pressure from the exhaust no longer through the egr cooler. What do you think??

    • @cameronmartin931
      @cameronmartin931 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only a small part of the exhaust goes through the EGR cooler, most exits through the turbo so only has a small effect. In fact most people report a small increase in responsiveness.

    We have a ford ranger wildtrak px2 2017. I want to blank the egr cooler like you did on the video permanently with a hose. Will I also have to blank the egr valve as well. If I do these 2 steps will I have any overheating on the engine or will it be ok. I take full responsibility for my own actions. Just want to know If I do this will it do permanent damage or can I leave it like that
