Lets be historically accurate, Zulfiqar is not the name of every sword, but it was main weapon of Muhammad's best general(and relative) - Ali, and there is no second one like this, this weapon is unique.

I feel like people are missing out about the meaning of the split! It's a symbol for justice. It divides the good from the bad, the right from the wrong and most important the thruth from the untruth. Ali ibn Abi Talib himselfs stands for justice through out his whole life. Especially the way he treated enemys, people of conquered areas and the poor. That's why the Human Rights of the United States named him as the "fairest governor who appeared during human history".

Zulfiqar was a savage slashing weapon and it was not actually designed for piercing and thrusting, the forked edge was made for duelling by Ali to clip/ break/counter his opponent's swords/spears/other weapons. Ali was known to call out the enemy armies' champions before battle for one on one duels. He was the best duelist of his time.
Fun fact: Zulfiqar was given to Ali BY Mohammed s.a.v but the funny thing is that nobody actually knows the sword's real shape. Imitations do exist in museums but they are made based on rumours. However; arabic swords of the particular era that (Hz) Ali lived in were straight and not curved. (Hz) Mohammed's own sword that is displayed in Topkapi museum is straight as well. So it is unlikely that zulfiqar was curved.Plus curved swords are (mostly) utilized by people whose culters' made use of horses excessively. You see; straight swords cannot slash as well as curved ones and this would cause a mounted soldier to fall off of his horse if his sword gets stuck in his opponent's body. That or he would have to let go of his sword which would require the reaction time of a mantis. As for the culters that utilized horses(note that every culter uses them to some degree but some of them makes a philosophy out of it) Turks and circassians are the first people that come to my mind. They fail to mention the most important function of the tip. The tip is fashioned into two edges so when the opponent's sword gets caught between these the wielder is able to grab opponent's weapon and throw it away. So the opponent has to flee, fall back or get killed.

Here is the thing, stabbing is one thing. Anyone who has used a blade in combat knows to stab and twist...it keeps the wound open. This is where I find this particular sword rather frightening. You see when the blade is twisted, and then pulled out, the would remains open and results in a bleed out. That is what this weapon was made to do. You see people slashing, but there is no expertise in the method to that specific sort of madness. There is an awesome scene from that movie face/off explaining this and then I went into researching promptly afterwords as I have a deep interest in any discipline of steel. It is true...just a stab, and then a quick twist with this blade would cause horrific damage considering its' dual edge. Completely frightening as this is a real weapon that was used in battle.

Two blades sword is persian sword. No doubt. But zul-fiqar is different sword. You are an arabic person right? So what is the meaning of al-fiqar jama' of fiqr... So the two blades persian/majoosi sword is really different from zulfiqar.
All I can say is that, if one of the most powerful and influential warrior of the past used it in countless battles it is definitely not a shelf filler. Zufiqar was 1 hit kill sword and it was mostly used in wars to simply to cut enemy's heads with one hit. Talking about 'zulfiqar'; as to my knowledge, it is said that one head is longer than the other so that it results in two consecutive cut in the same place(one head after the other- makes it severe). And the gap can be used to lock the enemy's sword and flip it out of the hands by a simple twist
It was one of a kind sword held by one of the greatest warriors. Another thing that many won't understand, although the sword was unique, the power behind it is the power, God gave Imam Ali in using it. It could never as effective in anyone else's hands. He fought battles 1 to 10 with it.

Prophet Muhammad SAW's swords are straight swords, none of them are curve sword as shown in museum. The two edges were typically used to drop the opponent's weapon. Or even break it. During combat two edges also served as self defense from opponents hit by stopping his blow right in the middle of both edges. Its not at all a shelf filler. Its a combo of giving sharp cuts and tendency to disarm your opponent and stop his fatal blows.

The double headed sword is not made to do the double damage to ribs, it is made to block the attack of sword/s. The double headed sword is used in left hand with single head on right hand, or either side, so as to block attack from one hand and attack from other and also kill the person just close to the left hand at the back. The explanation given by you regarding double damage to ribs may be correct but this is not the primary reason why it was made.

Hazrat Ali A.S. is known as the "Lion of Allah". In Islamic culture it is believed that Ali possessed the strength of 70 men! The "Zulfiqar" in his powerful hands was good enough to cut a man into two parts.
That guy is only concerned about the weapon not able to cut deep. Once you stab with that sword towards the rib cage, the main end is long enough pierce the heart, therefore, crippling the enemy. And since the ribcage stops the sword from going deeper, the wielder doesn’t have to use that much energy to pull the sword out, therefore, allowing for fast recovery so that the wielder can then swing the sword immediately to the cripple enemy. And the dual end allows for greater momentum in swinging which is why it is excellent at cutting. Stab not too deep or you’ll have to use more energy to pull out your sword. It divides the good from the bad, the right from the wrong and most important the thruth from the untruth. Ali ibn Abi Talib himselfs stands for justice through out his whole life. Zulfiqar was a savage slashing weapon and it was not actually designed for piercing and thrusting, the forked edge was made for duelling by Ali to clip/ break/counter his opponent's swords/spears/other weapons. Ali was known to call out the enemy armies' champions before battle for one on one duels. He was the best duelist of his time.
Fun fact: Zulfiqar was given to Ali BY Mohammed s.a.v but the funny thing is that nobody actually knows the sword's real shape. Imitations do exist in museums but they are made based on rumours. However; arabic swords of the particular era that (Hz) Ali lived in were straight and not curved. (Hz) Mohammed's own sword that is displayed in Topkapi museum is straight as well. So it is unlikely that zulfiqar was curved.Plus curved swords are (mostly) utilized by people whose culters' made use of horses excessively. You see; straight swords cannot slash as well as curved ones and this would cause a mounted soldier to fall off of his horse if his sword gets stuck in his opponent's body. That or he would have to let go of his sword which would require the reaction time of a mantis. As for the culters that utilized horses(note that every culter uses them to some degree but some of them makes a philosophy out of it) Turks and circassians are the first people that come to my mind. They fail to mention the most important function of the tip. The tip is fashioned into two edges so when the opponent's sword gets caught between these the wielder is able to grab opponent's weapon and throw it away. So the opponent has to flee, fall back or get killed.

Here is the thing, stabbing is one thing. Anyone who has used a blade in combat knows to stab and twist...it keeps the wound open. This is where I find this particular sword rather frightening. You see when the blade is twisted, and then pulled out, the would remains open and results in a bleed out. That is what this weapon was made to do. You see people slashing, but there is no expertise in the method to that specific sort of madness. There is an awesome scene from that movie face/off explaining this and then I went into researching promptly afterwords as I have a deep interest in any discipline of steel. Zufiqar was 1 hit kill sword and it was mostly used in wars to simply to cut enemy's heads with one hit. I doubt real dzulfiqar sword is like what today people believe, the reasons are:
1. Prophet Muhammad SAW's swords are straight swords, none of them are curve sword as shown in museum.
Today Arab sword and at the age of Prophet Muhammad is different, also how people dress in Arab today is different from at the age of prophet.
2. The real dzulfiqar sword is lost, today sword is just a replica.
3. What is people believe written on the sword that 'no other sword but dzulfiqar and no man but Ali' sounds too much. Is it sounds like what a Shiah believe?

The two edges were typically used to drop the opponent's weapon. Or even break it. During combat two edges also served as self defense from opponents hit by stopping his blow right in the middle of both edges.

The double headed sword is not made to do the double damage to ribs, it is made to block the attack of sword/s. Its not the Zulfiqar,the real Zulfiqar could cut 1.000 heads
That guy is only concerned about the weapon not able to cut deep. Once you stab with that sword towards the rib cage, the main end is long enough pierce the heart, therefore, crippling the enemy. And since the ribcage stops the sword from going deeper, the wielder doesn’t have to use that much energy to pull the sword out, therefore, allowing for fast recovery so that the wielder can then swing the sword immediately to the cripple enemy. And the dual end allows for greater momentum in swinging which is why it is excellent at cutting.
Stab not too deep or you’ll have to use more energy to pull out your sword. Just enough that it pierces the heart or lungs.
These guys need go back in time to see Hazrat Ali (R.A) with the Sword of Zulfiqar.... 🔥👈 then they will realize the power of zulfiqar.... zulfiqar se na koi achi talwar hai... Or na Ali jesa koi bahadur hai....❤👈
Lol , This is an Arab sword, not a Persian
The sentence "the Zulfiqar" annoys me and feels wrong. The part "Zul" kinda does the job of "The" so you don't need a "The" in the start.
Zulfiqar is Zulfiqar when it is in hands of Hazrat Ali (R.A)
