Creality Ender 3 (Pro) 3D Printer Plotter mod pen upgrade

- Created a holder for pens, snap fit on the fan mount of the Creality Ender 3 (Pro) 3d printer. Used Inkscape to generate the gcode for drawing the logo (Hinterland: The Long Dark).

This pen holder snap fits on the fan housing. Easy and Fun upgrade. No screw needed. Holds e.g. Pen, Pencils, Markers securely for drawing and painting very precise. Version for heavy and fat pens added. Don't forget to set the offsets.

The way you designed this holder is simply brilliant! At a first sight I thought that using a rubber band would have reduced accuracy, instead it is very forgiving of tolerances on the Z axis and allows you to switch many different kinds of pen without changing the holder itself!

Thanks for your comment. Many penholders are grabbing the pen to high and then have to fight the leverage. Just mount the pen as low as possible to keep forces low. A little flex on the z-axis helped to get a cleaner line on most pens if tried. Good luck with your project...
@@globecover Thanks, the reason why I mainly use the elastic bands, is so that I can easily change the pens and I don't need a specific diameter holder for any size pen. I'm using gravity and weight of the Z-carriage to make sure the pen drags on the paper/medium. A servo with a string pulls up the Z-carriage and drops it onto the paper, I used a string because it will pull with force but when it releases, it doesn't stay rigid, causing gravity to do the work for me.

do i need to change anything in firmware? because i cant get this working properly. it draws some lines and then starts scribbling something.
No firmware changes needed. I used Inkscape for the gcode generation and Repetier for code execution.
Will this work for Ender 3 too? or only for Ender 3 Pro?
This should work on every Creality Printer with the same Fan Housing...afaik, all Ender and CR-Series but not the CR-Pro...
I have an ender3 and have made the pen holder I have also looked at many different videos all seem different on how to set up a 3d printer into a 2d printer so I have not had much luck yet have been trying for weeks now most say cura 15.4 think it is but looking at cura thay only go to 231so have no chance of using 15.4 am now getting to the point of having enough and taking it apart and boxing it up as a bad job it looks like you got it off pat I dont suppose you would like to share on how to set up the ender 3 or any help you can give me will help me, thanks for your time and good video
