What I love the most is how Alastor is clearly doing this for his own motives, but still he doesn't hide his faith in Charlie.
Yeah, he is using her for his own goals, but that doesn't mean he has a low opinion of her.

Finally! Someone who gets that he can both like these people and have no problem using them or steping over them to get his goals. I constantly see people be like, well he wont give up his goals so he can't actually see them as friends or like them.
@@faithbaker4811 Yeah, exactly lol. Although I have to admit I'm kinda hoping Alastor does reform for real by the end of the series and comes to genuinely see Charlie and the others as true friends and not pawns in his game.
Or, he could also be used as an example of how redemption and being a better person are choices, and that not improving is also a choice. He'll get a lot of the same opportunities to be a better person as other residents of the hotel, and that'll influence him to a degree, but he'll decide not to seek redemption. Hazbin Hotel is supposed to be a show about redemption and how people can change, which means also having an example of how, all things being equal, some people will seek to change and others will choose not to.
Yeah, Alastor is a antihero, not a villain.
He has his own goals and if needed will use his friends as pawns for his plan, but he still values and appreciates his friends, even if not signaling blatantly so

There is something genuinely heartwarming about both Alastor and Rosie supporting Charlie throughout this song like proud surrogate parents, Rosie’s smiling little clap and Alastor’s thumbs up we’re really nice to see for both Charlie and us.

Quick note how much Alastor respects Charlie. He trusted her with his favourite item and main tool. He was highly supportive of her. I do feel as if Alastor has a soul and isn't the monster the show makes him out to be.

Lucifer has the same power. He's just doesn't dream anymore due to the angel only letting him see the negative that came from giving humans free will. Lucifer will go full light bringer mode when he knows he's been deceived and right all along.
I have a vague headcanon that the songs are all diegetic (that is, actually happening in the story as opposed to being just a storytelling device) because Lilith is associated with music and her influence lets people burst into musical numbers whenever is appropriate if they want.

The start of happy day in hell starts with the residents of the hotel saying that Carlie is halfway down the street singing, the end of looser baby gets cut off by the loan sharks saying "here they are and they are F*cking singing" there are even more subtle clues that hint that its all actually happening in universe.

And that is the true strength of this character - Charlie is a quintessential failure hero: every time she tries to do something on her own it blows up in her face, but her actions (flawed as they are) inspire those around her to step up and do things out of the ordinary - from getting sinners to reconsider their ways to convincing cannibals to defend against the angelic purge to reforging a bond with an absent father that gets him out of his complacent position at the eleventh hour, her attempts to do things believed to be impossible (even though they fail) move people into action!
And alastor saying “she’s filled with potential that I could guide” whilst pulled a menacing face

I agree, he’s really just neutral chaotic and no necessarily evil. Self interested and in Finale we even see he’s a bit confused himself that he was risking his life for his “friends”. So I think he has that internal struggles of liking them but also wanting to get rid of his shackles.

@@jayfeather965Being an advisor to one of the strongest things in Hell actually does sound like a really useful card to have in your deck. He seems primarily concerned with gaining his freedom, but its up in the air if he would use that freedom against the hotel.
Support asides, Alastor's facial expression when he looks at Charlie shows he is definitely planning something big for his own gain, but it involves Charlie becoming powerful so for the moment he is on her side.

My impression with him taking the mic back is that its because Charlie didn't need it anymore since the cannibals were following her now. He gave her the mic at first so she can be heard but now that she's like the "leader", she doesn't need a mic but now a cane as I see a leader carrying a cane more easily than a microphone. I love all of Canibal town, They seem like an actually functional and somewhat safe area of hell, during the song they basically yell the message "Ooooh? You give us Angel meat? We are at your service".
Well, they're safe among their own. Alastor likely has a pass because he's also a cannibal, and Charlie is literally a princess. I don't think other sinners would be safe there.

Well.... "safe"... If it is still true, it was mentioned that anyone who doesn't confirm to canibalism towns 1920s style will be cannibalised, so as long as u dress like them you are safe. Also, unless killed by angelic weapon a sinner will recover/regenerate/reborn, so while beating eaten by violent cannibals sucks, at least most of their victims will live. So it depends how you look at it, they have a stable community and are polite if one confirms, but even their violence and horrible crimes aren't AS bad cuz most of their victims probably come back later (unless they keep them in the town as a living one person meat factory, cutting off bits and wating to be regenerated, which honestly sounds worse than being killed and eaten once)
@@aleksabanjevic8316 Possibly a metaphor for America in the late 1800's/ pre-WWI era (which looks like the time period the cannibals' hairstyles/ outfits come from), when its' democracy and society seemed to function 'harmoniously', but you had to meet the standards of WASP society or you would be cut out of those institutions immediately. And beneath that (or even on the surface, depending on the situation) you had appalling levels of racism, ethnic exploitation and segregation... People 'eating' each other, so to speak... maybe I'm thinking too much into it, but that's what I interpreted.
