- Look at the CK Wire Stripper Model 495001 including the problem with these wire strippers have with single handed operation.
CK are quality tool makers so these wire strippers surprised me with there awkwardness in use.

I've personally owned these for more years than I can recall, and I've never had this issue before.
The problem is a weak spring under the adjusting screw i have replace it with a same length but stronger spring now I can cut wires single handed use the adjuster for different gauge wire 👍
I've exactly the same problem. They feel a bit rough without any wire. But dont work otherwise
I have half the same problem. The strippers do half a cut, leaving a ragged edge that has to be forcefully separated. Annoying to have to take them back. CK have a quality problem.
I agree - I had to take mine back and have them replaced. The replacement pair have been great.
Hi great vid. You should not need to hold or squeeze the jaws you have a faulty stripper.

@@noseknows Yes I think so not sure of the exact model number but ck cable strippers that look like that. I have had them for several years.
I've just bought these and have the same issue! They are useless! What ones do you recommend in stead?
Try the micro adjustment, turn the knob clockwise.
Took them back and got a replacement, new ones work great.
No problems with any of mine ck and fatmax, the jaws are ment to move up and down when opened and closed even without wire in yours ,may have been put together at the manufacturers a little to tight and stopped the free movement of the jaws and handles. I'd use them as an exercise device till they work loose!
Bought these 2 days ago. Wish I'd seen your review first. All I can say is, don't even think about buying these peeps. They should be taken of the market and the company fined for misrepresentation. Utter, utter crap!

Bought a pair today. Mine grip immediately without the need for a second/third hand. It looks like yours are faulty.
Yeah mine were faulty, a previous viewer commented that they were faulty so I sent them back. The new pair work great and grip great. I really like them.

Turn the screw in the middle of the ck strippers clockwise to fix the problem
Thanks for the advice William, I tried that and even stripped the screw out to check it was working but they still didn’t work. I returned them for a replacement set the new set works great.

I have bought a pair and they seem to strip small cables OK like 1.5mm however can't strip bigger cables like 4mm
Dude tighten the small knob to adjust the tension or see if the little spring inside the adjustment knob is missing or faulty!

Hey thanks for watching and commenting, I tend to steer clear of watching big reviews on channels as they can be biased (sponsored) so they always make products look better than they are. I like to test myself and ask the questions from viewers that come to my channel. I purely bought these because one of my other videos had a viewer who said I should try wire strippers (I always use side cutters, wire snips) so I tried and the video is what I found simple as that. On a side note they have since been replaced as one of the first comments was that they were faulty and the new pair works as expected.
Just bought the Stanley "Fatmax" version from screwfix. Not as bad as yours, would clamp and pull the grey away but no chance on the cores. Returned it for the C.K. version. Worked great in the shop but now, same as you, having to find a work around to get consistent results stripping the cores. I've watched other videos on the tools and they work great one handed. there's one simple thing wrong with some of these tools and it's killing me that i can't find what is wrong! How can it be so hit and miss if the tools does what it says on the tin?
